RACE 1 (R763) CLASS 5b – 1250M (A sc)

1	CHERISH (SU Lim)	Slow into stride. Vet inspection: Lame off fore – 1000M/vet (2 weeks embargo)
3	SORBETA (App S Shazmin)	The Stewards inquired into the Apprentice’s riding of the gelding.*(See Report).
4	BAGHDAD (S Ruzaini)	Bumped inwards at the start.
5	TILSWORTH JACOBI (V Espindola)	Veered inwards when the start was effected, crowding runners. Ridden wide in the middle stages.
8	UNSHADOWED GENERAL (App Clyde Leck)	Slow into stride.
9	SUPER DRAGON (O Chavez)	Slow into stride. Vet inspection: No significant finding.
11	ELEGENT (R Rueven)	Trainer fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to submit an application for its rider to ride overweight. Crowded at the start, losing ground. Impeded passing the 200M.
13	META GREAT (App A Najib)	Crowded and carried inwards passing the 200M. Vet inspection: Laceration over the near hind tendon – Vet exam.

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the riding of SORBETA and evidence was taken from App S Shazmin, the rider of SORBETA, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, EP Tan, and Trainer R Lines, the Trainer of SORBETA.

After considering the evidence tendered, App S Shazmin was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being:

At about the 250M, he dwelt considerably before bringing SORBETA to the outside for a clear passage;
His riding on SORBETA was hesitant and was not consistent with what the Stewards believed was a positive riding style.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Shazmin’s mitigating factors, previous riding record with regards to this ride and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 17 July 2023 and to expire on 16 August 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Struck the gate on jumping, losing ground. Rider was referred to apprentice retraining related to his position in saddle.

Slow to begin and then raced wide throughout, taking the turn into the straight wide.

RACE 4 (R766) OPEN MAIDEN (WFA) – 1250M (A sc)

1	SUPERNATURAL (L De Souza)	Shifted out quickly at the start, inconveniencing runner. Veered outwards on jumping, inconveniencing runner, drifted out over the final 200M, carrying runner wide. Rider severely reprimanded for continuing to ride his mount with the whip and failing to straighten when his mount shifted. Advised that a repetition of such level of riding would result in a suspension.
2	DRAGON SANDS (App R Nuqman)	After being loaded when the rider mounted, it became fractious, reared over backwards, became cast over the back gate. Withdrawn at 2:48pm. In light of this, the gelding will be required to pass 2 Starting Stall tests before being declared to race again.
3	LIM’S BETTERREADY (App I Fikri)	Impeded near the 250M and brushed runner on the outside. Then carried outwards wide on the track over the final 175M.
4	TWINKLE STAR (V Espindola)	Raced wide in the middle stages.
9	HONG GILDONG (S Ruzaini)	Impeded at the start and thereby slow to begin. When racing in a rearward position by itself, raced erratically, losing ground. Rider advised that the gelding had been wayward and attempted to jump patches on the track mid-race, thereby losing ground. Trainer was advised to take remedial action.
10	QAFILA (O Chavez)	Raced greenly throughout and shifted outwards quickly passing the 175M.
11	LUNA’S GAMBIT (App M Ekdihar)	Inclined to be sitting on the back gate when the start was effected, thereby losing ground.

4	SAN ANDREAS (O Chavez)	Had to be restrained when tightened at the 75M. *(See Report)
5	ARC TRIUMPH (SU Lim)	Crowded near the 1350M.
6	SINCERELY (App WW Cheah)	Shifted out, bumping runner at the 250M, then shifted in considerably over the final 150M causing runner to be restrained near the 75M. *(See Report)
7	KONG FU PANDA (J Kamaruddin)	Bumped outwards at the 250M.
8	CHINA CAPTAIN (App M Ekdihar)	Bumped at the start, thereby losing ground.
9	SACRED GURU (App A Najib)	Shifted out onto runner at the start.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App WW Cheah, the rider of SINCERELY, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in over the final 150M causing SAN ANDREAS to be restrained.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App WW Cheah’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days, with effect from 17 July 2023 and to expire on 29 July 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

1	ALSHEIKH (O Chavez)	Shifted out passing the 300M, brushing runner and then was crowded considerably, having to be restrained near the 275M. *(See Report 1)

4	GOLDEN SPRINT (App R Nuqman)	Squeezed at the start, losing ground. Shifted out over the heels of runner near the 250M, bumping its hind-quarters, thereby crowding runner causing it to be restrained. (See Report 1). Drifted out over the final 150M, carrying runner wide. (See Report 2)
5	MANDRAKE (HS Gill)	Raced wide throughout.
6	MR HANKS (R Rueven)	Brushed near the 250M. Shifted in causing runner to be tightened. *(See Report 1).
7	STRAIGHT N ARROW (S Ruzaini)	Raced wide throughout.
8	AGUERO JR (App M Ekdihar)	Laid inwards and had to be steadied from the heels near the 150M. Vet inspection: Lame off fore – 1000M/vet (2 weeks embargo)
10	TRAFALGAR (App H Haikal)	Struck the gate on jumping with rider injuring his left ankle. Apprentice was examined by the Club Doctor who subsequently stood him down from his riding engagement for his remainder ride
11	ELITE SAINT (App A Suriya)	Held tight over the concluding 150M.

It was established that MR HANKS shifted in, crowding ALSHEIKH and at the same time, GOLDEN SPRINT shifted outwards across the heels of the tiring MAGNITUDE and struck the horse’s hind-quarters with GOLDEN SPRINT continuing to shift out and badly crowding ALSHEIKH which made heavy contact with MR HANKS. Jockey R Rueven was reprimanded for shifting in and holding ALSHEIKH tight at this stage.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App R Nuqman, the rider of GOLDEN SPRINT, in the presence of his Acting Employing Trainer, SY Lim, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii).

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App R Nuqman’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 17 July 2023 and to expire on 29 July 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App R Nuqman, the rider of GOLDEN SPRINT, in the presence of his Acting Employing Trainer, SY Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he permitted his horse to drift out considerably over the final 150M and carried BLUE MARINE outwards over the final 70M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App R Nuqman’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be served consecutively with any other penalty, with effect from 30 July 2023 and to expire on 5 August 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
