Jockey S Salee (SHENG WARRIOR) was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 107(10) in that he was unable to make the carded weight. The Stewards granted permission for Jockey KC Low to replace Jockey S Salee as the rider of SHENG WARRIOR.

App Clyde Leck appeared before the Panel and was questioned regarding his tactics on PACIFIC SOLDIER. In this regard, he explained that after his mount jumped well and showed good early speed, he elected to use this advantage and use obtain a forward position. He stated that it was not his intention to lead, however, this was a product of his quick beginning. He further explained that moving through the 1200M when he attempted to slow the speed, JING JIN (L De Souza) had raced alongside him which had resulted in PACIFIC SOLDIER taking a hold of the bit and him being able to restrain. This, in his opinion, had contributed to the fast early pace to his mount. The Panel noted the explanation of App Clyde Leck.

Chinese New Year Stakes

1	ANKARA (AK Lim)	Disappointed for a clear run at the 250M and had to switch out. Thereafter, tightened for galloping room in the concluding stages.

App A Azizi was examined by the Club Doctor who stood him down from his riding engagement for the remainder of the races today.

Gong Xi Fa Cai Stakes

1	MAJESTIC WAY (AL Da Silva)	Tightened for galloping room at the 1100M. Had to steady off heels at the 350M, thereafter hung out in the straight.
3	DUMA (B Queiroz)	Hung in in the straight. Shifted in away from the whip in the concluding stages.
4	LIM’S BESTBREAKER (App I Fikri)	Squeezed out shortly after the start. Jockey cautioned regarding the consistency of his riding.
7	PACIFIC DIAMOND (TH Koh)	Slow to begin. Vet inspection: Respiratory distress – 1000M/Vet (1 month embargo)
8	COMMANDER (App PH Seow)	Shifted out in the straight.
10	PLATINUM HARVEST (XC Liang)	Rider dropped whip at the 150M and cautioned for dropping his whip.

Spring Festival Harmony Stakes

3	INTREPID (L De Souza)	Hung in in the straight and switched out to continue its run at the 350M.
6	LUCKY MAGIC (R Shafiq)	Switched out to continue its run at the 400M.
7	FATAL ATTRACTION (B McDougall)	Over-raced in the early stages, raced onto and severely clipped heels at the 1400M. Hung out in the straight and brushed on at least 3 occasions with another runner. Carried out at the 400M.
9	LUEN ON FEELINGS (KC Low)	Raced wide throughout and commenced to give ground to the field at the 700M.

RACE 5 (R0063) SUPREME A – 1600M (LC A)

Chinese New Year Prosperity Trophy

1	BERRY BLISS (App Clyde Leck)	Bumped at the 550M.
2	ANTIPODEAN (R Shafiq)	At the 1000M, over-raced, shifted out and bumped another runner. *(See Report)
5	BIG HEARTED (KC Tham)	Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Hung in in the straight and made contact in the concluding stages with another runner, causing the gelding’s hind-quarters to be turned out and it to shift in whereupon corrective measures were immediately taken.
7	SMART STAR (L De Souza)	Slow to begin.
8	MEGA GEMS (AK Lim)	Carried out at the 1000M. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
9	PASIR PINJI (App I Fikri)	Raced wide throughout. Severely tightened in the concluding stages and had to ease when awkwardly placed between 2 runners.
10	SNOW STORM (A Suriya)	Became unbalanced and bumped another runner at the 550M.
11	NOAH KHAN (App Z Syafifie)	Bumped at 1000M. Laid out slightly in the concluding stages.
12	PACIFIC PADRINO (B Queiroz)	Raced wide in the early stages. *(See Report)

At the 800M, ANTIPODEAN (R Shafiq) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of PACIFIC PADRINO (B Queiroz) which shifted in after ANTIPODEAN was unable to secure and position on the rail. Thereafter in the concluding stages, ANTIPODEAN had to ease when racing onto heels whilst being shifted out to continue its run.

A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Jockey R Shafiq, the rider of the third placed horse (ANTIPODEAN) against the winner, PACIFIC PADRINO (B Queiroz) on the grounds of interference at the 800M and in the concluding stages.

After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection as it could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, ANTIPODEAN would not have finished ahead of PACIFIC PADRINO.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey Y Aify, the rider of ACHILLES PEGASUS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to STEALTH SIXTY-ONE (I Saifudin) at the 800M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey Y Aify’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 3 February 2025 and to expire on 9 February 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Trainer J Leck was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for presenting SMART RACER with an incorrect saddle cloth number.

Jockey R Shafiq was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for not using the allocated colours for the above barrier trials.
