STEWARDS’ REPORT – PERAK SEPTEMBER MEETING 2024

SATURDAY – 14TH SEPTEMBER 2024

STATE OF TRACK: RACE 1 to 5 – SOFT, RACE 6 to 10 – YIELDING

Panel of Stewards:

RACE 1 (R0887)          CLASS 5(B) – 1600m (lc)

As App A Nazir, App S Shazmin and Jockey S Ruzaini all encountered transport problem whilst enroute to the Club, the Panel of Stewards permitted App Z Syafifie to replace App A Nazir on TAIWAN CAPTAIN and App P Haris to replace App S Shazmin on JJ STAR.

As there is no suitable jockey available, the Panel of Stewards permitted App H Haikal to replace Jockey S Ruzaini, as the rider of BLACK TAIPAN.

As Jockey M Ganeesh had also encountered transport problem whilst enroute to the Club and as there was no suitable jockey available to the connections of TRINITY HONOR, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal at 12.11pm, as requested by Trainer P Lee.

SIR ELTON which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

Acting on veterinary advice that MYSTICAL STAR (R Narendran) was lame off fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 12.41pm and the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Shortly after the start, SIR ELTON (HS Gill) had to be steadied when JJ STAR (App P Haris) laid out on jumping.

MAGICAL PARK (SU Lim) was racing keenly in the middle stages.

MIGHT IS RIGHT (App SN Shiva) switched out for a clear running on entering the straight and drifted out, finishing the race wide.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MAGICAL PARK and SIR ELTON revealed no obvious abnormality.

MASTER JIANGMEN, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

As App S Shazmin had encountered transport problem whilst enroute to the Club.  The Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DARCY at 1.01pm, as requested by Trainer R Lines, as there was no suitable rider to the connections.

BIG FRANCK (AK Lim), VILLAGE TYCOON (KC Tham) and ADIRA PEGASUS (App Z Syafifie) were all examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and were passed fit to start.

CIRCUIT STAR (HS Gill) and BANG BINGO (S Ruzaini) were obliged to race wide rounding

ROCK N ROLL (App A Nazir) had a tendency to lay in from the 400M-mark.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BIG FRANCK, BANG BINGO and SPEEDY SWALLOW (SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R0889)    CLASS 4(A) – 1600m (lc)   

MAESTRO, a course scratching as it had sustained stone bruise near fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

As Jockey Y Aify had encountered transport problem whilst enroute to the Club, the Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey R Narendran to replace him as the rider of CASTELO.

The Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey KC Tham to replace Jockey WW Cheah as the rider of HEARTS OF GOLD on compassionate ground.

As App S Shazmin and App T Ammar both had encountered transport problem whilst enroute to the Club and as there was no suitable rider available to the connections, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawals of LANKARAN at 1.29pm and DISCRETELY RED at 1.33pm, as requested by the respective trainers.

Acting on veterinary advice that HEARTS OF GOLD (KC Tham) was lame near fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.43pm and the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Approaching the 1400M-mark, SUSPICIOUS MIND (App A Nazir) had to steady when MANDRAKE (HS Gill) rolled in.

NORTHERN STAR (S Ruzaini) had to be steadied approaching the first bend when RAGNAR (App H Haikal) rolled in.

MANDRAKE was racing keenly in the early and middle stages.

Passing the 200M, CASTELO (R Narendran) laid out, inconveniencing PEER GYNT (App P Haris).   Jockey R Narendran, the rider of CASTELO was shown the video of this incident and was warned that he should straighten his mount in future, failing which action would be taken.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SUSPICIOUS MIND and CAPTAIN PEGASUS (App Z Syafifie) revealed no obvious abnormality.

As Jockey Y Aify had encountered transport problem whilst enroute to the Club, the Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey HK Cheng to replace him as the rider of BULLSEYE.

ASIAN JET (R Rueven) and NOVA PHOENIX (App H Haikal) were examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and were passed fit to start.

Acting on veterinary advice that DIAMOND PEGASUS (S Ruzaini) had sustained a nail prick near fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 2.11pm and the mare will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

PENANG STAR (App SN Shiva) was slow into stride.

YULONG DREAM (KC Low) jumped awkwardly.

NOVA PHOENIX was difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.

BULLSEYE (HK Cheng) was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

Passing the 400M-mark, PENANG STAR had a tendency to drift out, finishing the race wide.

Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of BULLSEYE reported that passing the 300M-mark, his whip got entangled with his rein, resulting in his mount throwing its head up on several occasions.   He was shown the video of this incident and was advised that he must ride all his mounts out so as to leave no room for query.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SECRET AGENT, BULLSEYE and NOVA PHOENIX revealed no obvious abnormality.

ELITE SAINT, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CHER (Y Aify) and D’GREAT TIMING (App S Shazmin) were both slow into stride.

Passing the 1100M-mark, GOLD EIGHTY-THREE (S Ruzaini) and LAGI BOLEH (J Chuah) brushed and shortly thereafter, GOLD EIGHTY-THREE had to steady when LAGI BOLEH rolled in.

At approximately the 1000M-mark, FAST AND SUPER (App T Ammar) had to be steadied when ULURU (App Z Syafifie) rolled inwards.   Shortly thereafter, CHOSEN ONE (AK Lim) had to steady when LAGI BOLEH rolled in.

GOLD EIGHTY-THREE was obliged to race wide rounding the turn.

Passing the 100M-mark, ULURU had to steady outwards over the heels of FAST AND SUPER which rolled out.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of GEORGETOWN reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of GEORGETOWN revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of GOLD EIGHTY-THREE revealed no obvious abnormality.

The state of track was upgraded to “Yielding” after the running of this race.

RACE 6 (R0892)       CLASS 4(B)   – 1100m (sc)                     

AUTUMN BLITZ, a course scratching as it had sustained stone bruise off fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

STAR LEGEND (App P Haris) which could not be boxed, was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 3.22pm.   The gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

FLYING BABY (App H Haikal) was slow into stride and dipped thereafter.

HARVEYWALLBANGER (AK Lim) was trapped wide in the early and middle stages.

Passing the 300M-mark, GOLDEN SHOW (App Z Syafifie) shifted out over the heels of ROGER ROGER (A Suriya) to obtain a clear running and in so doing, carried THUNDER SPIRIT (HS Gill) outwards onto HARVEYWALLBANGER and continued to drift out, finishing the race wide.   App Z Syafifie, the rider of GOLDEN SHOW, in the presence of his Employing Trainer K Coetzee was shown the video of this incident and was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future, failing which action may be taken against him in future.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FLYING BABY and HARVEYWALLBANGER revealed no obvious abnormality.

FA FA STAR (AK Lim) was slow into stride.

PEAKY BLINDER (HS Gill) jumped awkwardly, brushing the off side gate.

GLORIOUS BISCUIT (KC Tham) and HAPPY BIRTHDAY (HK Cheng) were obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages. 

HAPPY BIRTHDAY entered the straight wide and finished the race wide.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of ROCKETSHIP reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of ROCKETSHIP revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SILENT BOSS (S Ruzaini), GLORIOUS BISCUIT and HAPPY BIRTHDAY revealed no obvious abnormality.

FIRE AWAY which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

RETALLICA (SU Lim) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

Acting on veterinary advice that GOOD LUCK CHARM (AK Lim) was lame near fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.15pm and will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

FADABOY (R Rueven) and ST ALWYN (M Ganeesh) were slow into stride.

BRANDENBURG (HS Gill) and RETALLICA brushed shortly after the start.

JULIUS CAESAR (App Z Syafifie) jumped awkwardly.

FIRE AWAY (App P Haris) showed no early pace despite being urged.

At approximately the 1100M-mark, BRANDENBURG was tightened between STORM TO WIN (Y Aify) and THE WONDERBOLT (App S Shazmin) which rolled in.

BAGHDAD (S Ruzaini) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ST ALWYN and THE WONDERBOLT revealed no obvious abnormality. 

When questioned with regards to the improved performance of KNIGHT LOVE today, Trainer KF Wong stated that in his opinion, the apprentice’s claim and a weaker field had contributed to the gelding’s improved performance and his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding in-and-out running.

Trainer K Coetzee was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for wrongly declaring App Z Syafifie instead of Jockey Y Aify on EKRAAR PHOENIX.   The Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey Y Aify to ride EKRAAR PHOENIX.

WAR CODE which was up 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

Acting on a report from the Club Veterinary Surgeon that WE CAN DO IT had sustained a nail prick to its off hind foot, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 3.23pm.   WE CAN DO IT will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WAR CODE (HK Cheng) and COUNTRY LAW (R Rueven) bumped on jumping.

NIMBUS FLARE (App SN Shiva) and EKRAAR PHOENIX (Y Aify) were slow into stride.

WAR CODE and COUNTRY LAW raced wide rounding the turn.

SALAAM NAMASTEY (HS Gill) entered the home straight wide.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of COUNTRY LAW reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of COUNTRY LAW revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of  SUPER WHIRLWIND (J Chuah) revealed no obvious abnormality.

D’GREAT OCEAN and BOSSKU, both are course scratching.  D’GREAT OCEAN had sustained a stone bruised near fore foot whilst BOSSKU sustained corneal ulcer on its right eye.   Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Shortly after the start, PROVOCATEUR (SU Lim) had to steady when TILSWORTH MALI (A Suriya) rolled inwards.

KIPEH (App A Nazir) was obliged to race wide rounding the turn.

GOLD PLAN (HS Gill) was racing keenly in the early and middle stages.

Passing the 300M-mark, BAKUTEH (M Ganeesh) shifted in away from the whip.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of PURPLE RAIN reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises.  A post-race veterinary examination of PURPLE RAIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GOLD PLAN and BAKUTEH revealed no obvious abnormality and KIPEH returned lame near fore.  As such, KIPEH will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Panel of Stewards enquired into the riding of BAKUTEH by Jockey M Ganeesh today.   After hearing the explanations from Jockey M Ganeesh,  the Panel of Stewards were not entirely satisfied with his explanations, however he was warned to ride all his mounts out in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

POST-RACE ANALYSIS (EQUINE):

18th August 2024 – PERAK AUGUST MEETING 2024

The report dated 29th August 2024 (V24/134) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 25 coded urine and 29 sets of coded blood samples from the above- mentioned race meeting were received on 18th August 2024, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.

JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES:

The report dated 29th August 2024 (V24/135) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics  Laboratory stated that two (2) coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 18th August 2024, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.

POST-RACE ANALYSIS (EQUINE):

25th August 2024 – PERAK AUGUST MEETING 2024

The report dated 5th September 2024 (V24/139) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 26 coded urine and 28 sets of coded blood samples from the above- mentioned race meeting were received on 25th August 2024, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.

JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES:                   

25th August 2024 – PERAK JUNE MEETING 2024
