RACE 1 (R018) CLASS 5 – 1200m(lc) – SWEET MEMORIES HANDICAP

BLOOD ROYAL and FLEDGELING, both course scratching as they had colic and sustained a bruised foot respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Shortly after the start, HENNESSY DRAGON (HK Cheng) and SPARKLER (SS Vanan) bumped.

Racing to the 900M, SPARKLER which was over-racing, had to be steadied for a few strides.

HENNESSY DRAGON dipped and became unbalanced for a short distance racing to the 500M.

A post-race veterinary examination of LITTLE BUT FIERCE revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SPARKLER returned having cast its near fore plate.

RACE 2 (R019) CLASS 4 –1400m(lc) – GALLOPING ONCE AGAIN HANDICAP

Jockey CK Tan (ALLIED MARINE) was dislodged whilst enroute to the barrier. ALLIED MARINE was apprehended shortly after, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

Racing to the 1100M, SACRED KLASS (J Low) had to be steadied off the heels of HELLO SAYANG (App KC Wong), which rolled out and lost some ground.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GOLIATH (App T Krisna), SACRED KLASS and AVANTI (App S Saddam) revealed no obvious abnormality. SACRED KLASS was impounded.

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low as to the poor performance of SACRED KLASS today. He stated that his instructions were to be handy, but because the gelding had no early speed, he settled midfield and when he tested with the whip, the gelding did not respond in the soft going and failed to respond to his riding. His explanation was noted.

RACE 3 (R020) CLASS 4 – 1400m(lc) – AUSPICIOUS START HANDICAP

CANDY CRUSH which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SUGAR BABY (Lou Ho) was slow to begin.

SANDY MIGHT (App CK Khaw) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped ZHAN SHEN (WK Yan).

Shortly after the start, SANDY MIGHT had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DAWN PROSPECT (F Yap) and shortly thereafter, ZHAN SHEN shifted inward and brushed ACOUSTIC (App SU Lim).

SUGAR BABY which was racing greenly, rolled out and bumped SANDY MIGHT at about the 700M.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ARC CARA (J Low) and WHISPERINTHEWIND (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality, whereas CANDY CRUSH returned broken-winded and as such, CANDY CRUSH will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 4 (R021) CLASS 4 – 1000m(sc) – NEW DREAMS NEW HOPE HANDICAP

FATKID WONDERER, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised back, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CLASSIC KING (CK Tan) jumped away awkwardly.

STAR CHOICE (J Low) was slow to begin and dipped shortly after the start.

STAR CHOICE which was over-racing, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of RUSSELL THE CROWE (F Yap) racing to the 800M.

Post-race veterinary examinations of AUDACIOUS (M Yusri), LUCK ALOT (App SU Lim) and RUSSELL THE CROWE revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R022) ENRICH STAKES A – 1000m (sc) – HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY STAKES (SET-WEIGHTS)

Steady rain fell prior and during the running of this race.

LITTLEBITOFJOY (App KC Wong) was slow to begin.

LEE BANK (SS Vanan) which was restless in the barrier, bucked as the start was effected and was slow to begin. Thereafter, LEE BANK was difficult to settle and racing to the 700M, hung out and had to be steadied.

Racing to the 100M, FLYING ZERO (App T Krisna) shifted in under the whip, resulting in GOLD PEREGRINE (App CK Khaw) shifting in, inconveniencing KUTTNER (F Yap). App T Krisna, the rider of FLYING ZERO was shown the vision of the incident and advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances.

CALIFORNIA CAT (HK Cheng) whilst being loaded into the barrier, sat down and shortly after, stood back up. CALIFORNIA CAT was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start. As the gates were released, CALIFORNIA CAT jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

Post-race veterinary examinations of revealed CALIFORNIA CAT, BRIGHT LIFE (J De

Souza), FRAAJILISTIC (CK Tan) and DEVIL’S CUT (SS Vanan) revealed no obvious abnormality. FRAAJILISTIC returned having cast its off fore plate.

GENERAL REPORT

PENANG DECEMBER YANG DI-PERTUA NEGERI GOLD CUP MEETING 2016 – 1st DAY, SATURDAY, 17th DECEMBER 2016
RACE 8 (R1564) – CLASS 5 – 1100M

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry today (Monday, 2nd January 2017) into the incident at the 350M. Evidence were taken from Jockey S Sandana, the rider of SHINING SUPREME and App CK Khaw, the rider of EYE FOUR GET in the presence of his master, Trainer R Lines.

After viewing all the films and hearing their evidence, it was established that SHINING SUPREME (S Sandana) had to be steadied racing to the 400M when getting onto the heels of EYE FOUR GET (App CK Khaw) and then shortly thereafter, EYE FOUR GET rolled out, resulting in SHINING SUPREME clipping that gelding’s heels, dislodging

Jockey S Sandana. The Stewards considered it to be a racing incident and as such, no further action was taken.
