RACE 1 (R1164) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400M
LUCKY MONEY, a course scratching as it had colic, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Acting on veterinary advice that SOKOR GEDEBE (S Anandan) was lame near hind, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.41pm. SOKOR GEDEBE will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
TURNED OUT (HK Cheng) jumped away awkwardly and was brushed from both sides and lost its position.
GHOST CITY (SS Vanan) was slow into stride.
Post-race veterinary examinations of SEE FOR YOURSELF (App I Firdzriel), RANGITAIKI (J Mallyon) and RAINBOW STAR (A Aucharuz) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low and Trainer F Maynard, the rider and trainer of SNOW DANCER respectively, into the improved performance of the gelding today as against its last start in Penang on 16th September 2018. Jockey J Low stated that he was of the opinion that the wide barrier and “heavy” track on 16th September 2018 did not suit SNOW DANCER and the gelding had shown no early speed despite his urging. Trainer F Maynard told the Stewards that with a better barrier and the better going today, SNOW DANCER would be better suited and he expected better performance today. The Stewards, in the presence of Jockey J Low and Trainer F Maynard reviewed the vision of the race on 16th September 2018 and agreed that the track conditions and the barrier draw today were more favourable for SNOW DANCER. Trainer F Maynard was advised of the rules regarding “in-and-out” running (MRA Rule 117(3)). Their explanations were noted.

The State of Track was upgraded to “Yielding” after the running of this race.
RACE 2 (R1165) CLASS 5 (A) – 1400M
RUSH which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
SING DARCI (HS Gill) was slow into stride.
Jockey S Salee, the rider of OUR RIVER DANCER, broke his whip during the running of the race at the 200M.
Over the concluding 100M, ONE O NINE (S Ruzaini) shifted away from the whip in the left hand, taking ELUSIVE GENIUS (App S Rosmizan) wider on the track.
BLACK IS POWER (SU Lim) shifted out and away from the whip in the left hand over the final 50M and finished wider on the track.
Post-race veterinary examinations of GOOD TASTE (S Anandan), SING DARCI and COLONEL LINCOLN (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R1166) COSMO D – 1700M

[ONLY APPRENTICE ALLOWANCES PERMITTED]
PURPLE RAIN LADY, a course scratching as it was bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Emergency acceptors, SECOND CHANCE and D’GREAT GLORY were withdrawn due to a capacity field.
ARIF (App S Rosmizan) jumped away awkwardly, brushing the outside barrier.
ALASAMO (J Mallyon) shifted out on jumping away, tightening BLOOD ROYAL (App KC Wong) which in turn tightened ROYAL GREEN (S Anandan) out onto GROUND CONTROL (HS Gill) which was pushed out and lost its position.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TONGARIRO (J Low) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of GROUND CONTROL, MOGAN’S PRIDE (App CK Khaw), XZUBERANCE (J De Souza) and SNAGGLE PUSS (M Yusri) revealed no obvious abnormality. XZUBERANCE was Impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 4 (R1167) CLASS 3 – 1400M
Emergency acceptors, LOUEY VELOCE and TURQUOISE KING were both withdrawn due to a capacity field.
PISCES STAR which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
Trainer W Lim was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to seek the Stewards’ permission within the stipulated time to use blinker pacifier on SATELLITE BOY (S Ruzaini).
GOLDEN CASINO (R Rueven) was slow into stride.
WINDCHASER (HK Cheng) raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.
Jockey R Rueven, the rider of GOLDEN CASINO reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
Jockey SS Vanan, the rider of PISCES STAR, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that PISCES STAR returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of WINDCHASER and SATELLITE BOY revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R1168) CLASS 4 (A) – 1300M
TARZAN BOY (J Low) broke through under the barrier, galloped for some distance and after being restrained, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 3.53pm. A veterinary examination revealed that the gelding sustained a cut on the right shoulder. TARZAN BOY will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test and a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
GORDON G (App KC Wong) jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start, was brushed by MOLLY BROWNE (J Mallyon).
GRAND CANYON (M Hanif) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.

RACE 6 (R1169) CLASS 4 (B) – 1300M
STIRLING which was down 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
Acting on veterinary advice that HENNESSY DRAGON (J Mallyon) was lame near fore, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4,21pm. HENNESSY DRAGON will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
STIRLING (SS Vanan) shifted out on jumping away and bumped FOR FUN ONLY (App J Daniel),
MR DREYFUSS (HK Cheng) shifted out on jumping away, resulting in DOUBLE RAINBOW (App R Ruwaidy) and LAUGHING BUFFALO (App W Faizal) being tightened and losing their position.
FUNKADELIC (S Salee) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the race.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BLACK GHOST (C Goon), BEST DREAM (A Aucharuz) and YOU ARE GENIUS (M Yusri) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Stewards questioned Jockey S Salee and Trainer S Hamilton, the rider and trainer respectively of FUNKADELIC into Jockey S Salee’s riding in the early stages of the race. Jockey S Salee stated that his instructions were to get a good jump and ride the gelding where it was comfortable. Trainer S Hamilton confirmed the instructions. Jockey S Salee further explained that after being tightened at the start by THE DODGER (SU Lim), FUNKADELIC raced ungenerously in the first 400M. The Stewards showed Trainer S Hamilton and Jockey S Salee the vision of the race and advised Jockey S Salee that if his instructions were to ride where his mount was comfortable, he should allow FUNKADELIC to stride out and to ride in a manner so as to leave no room for query. A post-race examination of FUNKADELIC revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 7 (R1170) CLASS 5 (B) – 1600M
SUPER VICTORY, a course scratching as it was bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Trainer K Coetzee was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for SUCCESSION (HS Gill).
SUCCESSION was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to race.
NAPOLEON (R Rueven) jumped away awkwardly.
RUNFORIT (J Low) was slow into stride.
Jockeys HS Gill and R Rueven, the riders of SUCCESSION and NAPOLEN respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of both geldings revealed no obvious abnormality.
Jockey S Anandan, the rider of FLIGHT OFTHE SAKER, was shown the vision of the race in the straight and reminded of the rules in respect of use of the whip.

RACE 8 (R1171) RESTRICTED MAIDEN – 1100M
[3 YEAR OLDS ONLY] [WEIGHT-FOR-AGE]
SMART EAGLE (App I Firdzriel) cast its near hind plate behind the barriers and had to be reshod. SMART EAGLE was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.
D’GREAT SPEED (J Low) jumped away awkwardly.
CONSENSE (App KC Wong) showed no early pace despite being urged.
TEAM WINNER (A Aucharuz) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SMART EAGLE at the 200M and shifted out to obtain clear running.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SMART EAGLE returned having cast its near hind plate.

CONTINUATION OF HEARING OF APPEAL BY TRAINER ANNA MAREE
SCOTT (TRAINER A SCOTT) AGAINST THE ONE-YEAR DISQUALIFICATION AND RM50,000/- FINE IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS UNDER
MRA RULE 134(6)(A) AS READ WITH 134(13) PUNISHABLE UNDER MRA RULE 134(7) IN CONNECTION WITH THE POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “08342” SAID TO BE TAKEN FROM “ILUMINADO’” WHICH FINISHED 1ST IN RACE 6 (R1588), MALAYSIA GROUP 1 – 2000M, SUNDAY, 25TH DECEMBER 2016 AND WHICH RETURNED POSITIVE TO “METHAMPHETAMINE”, A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE UNDER THE MRA RULES AND REGULATIONS
At the continuation of the above appeal hearing on Friday, 21st September 2018 at the Penang Turf Club, the PNTC Racing Stewards heard submissions from Trainer A Scott, Mr. Philip Anderson, Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Soo Choon, Chief Analyst, USAINS Biomics Laboratory and Dr. Khor Li Li, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, PNTC.
After considering the submissions tendered, the Racing Stewards adjourned the hearing to a date to be fixed.
RACE 3 (R1149) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M, SUNDAY, 16TH SEPTEMBER 2018, 1ST DAY, PENANG SEPTEMBER MEETING 2018
The Stewards today (22nd September 2018) questioned Jockey SS Vanan into his failure to arrive on course on time to fulfill his riding engagement on MR WHYTE in the above race. Jockey SS Vanan submitted documents pertaining to his car breakdown en route to the Penang Turf Club. The Stewards accepted his explanation and took no further action.
PRTC GENERAL REPORT
PRTC, WEDNESDAY, 19 SEPTEMBER 2018
Jockey WK Yan was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 41(4)(a) and (b) in that he was not wearing a helmet and a body protector whilst mounted on SANGKURIANG (E301) on Wednesday (19/09/2018) at Perak Turf Club.
SLTC GENERAL REPORT
RACE 8 (R1133) CLASS 3 – 1400M (SHORT COURSE A), SUNDAY, 9 SEPTEMBER 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2018
The Stewards, on 20 September 2018 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of BLACK THORN. Evidence was taken from Jockey C Goon and Trainer SY Lim, the rider and trainer of BLACK THORN respectively.
After reviewing the vision of the race and considering the evidence tendered, Jockey C Goon was found guilty of a charge of incompetent riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii).
The particulars of the charge were that:
1. By his own admission, he was not confident to switch his whip to the left hand and to use it accordingly, when it may have been the most appropriate course of action due to BLACK THORN’s tendency to lay inwards.
2. On several occasions in the last 200M, his attempted whip strikes made no contact with BLACK THORN.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey C Goon’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) weeks with effect from 24 September 2018 and to expire on 4 November 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (2:40pm).
RACE 8 (R1133) CLASS 3 – 1400M (SHORT COURSE A), SUNDAY, 9 SEPTEMBER 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2018
Jockey C Goon (BLACK THORN) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.

The report dated 20 September 2018 (V18/104) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 33 bottles of coded urine and 39 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 9 September 2018, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
