Prior to the running of Race 1, the Stewards advised and instructed all jockeys and apprentices that they must strictly comply with the Mounting Procedure at the Penang Turf Club, failing which action may be taken against them.

RACE 1 (R1370) CLASS 5 (A) – 1700M
JEFFREY and GRAND SHOW, both course scratchings as they had sustained a stone bruise off fore and was bruised both fore fetlocks respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
NASI LEMAK (M Yusri) shifted inwards on jumping away, taking BEST DREAM (K Eirwan) onto TOP TURF (S Muniandy) which was checked and lost its position.
AMISTAD (HS Gill) over-raced in the early stages of the race and threw its head up on several occasions.
WEATHER MAN (SU Lim) had to steady passing the 600M to avoid the heels of MODRIC (S Salee).
TOP TURF and BEST DREAM both dislodged their riders on pulling-up. Both Jockeys S Muniandy and K Eirwan were medically cleared to continue riding for the remainder of the day.
Jockey S Anandan, the rider of GHOST CITY, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that GHOST CITY
returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of NATURAL WATER (App CC Foo) and NASI LEMAK revealed no obvious abnormality. NASI LEMAK which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R1371) CLASS 5 (B) – 1300M
EASTWOOD which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of ULTIMATE HERO (S Muniandy) at 2.15pm acting on veterinary advice that it was lame off hind. ULTIMATE WARRIOR will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
BASTION (App S Hafis) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.
The whip of App S Saddam, the rider of SUPREME SASSO, was accidentally struck off his hand by App S Hafis, the rider of BASTION at about the 50M.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ANAK WARRIOR (Z Khairil) and MR WHYTE (HK Cheng) revealed no obvious abnormality. ANAK WARRIOR was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

RACE 3 (R1372) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M
ARECIBO (App WW Cheah) steadied shortly after the start to avoid the heels of MASTRO GEPPETTO (HS Gill) which rolled outwards.
POLO TYCOON (K Eirwan) had to be steadied racing to the 700M to avoid the heels of D’GREAT LUCK (AK Lim).
Jockey HS Gill and App S Saddam, the riders of MASTRO GEPPETTO and WHISPERINTHEWIND respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of MASTRO GEPPETTO and WHISPERINTHEWIND revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of INDOMITABLE SPEED (SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.
App CT Lee, in the presence of his Trainer, HS Lim, was shown the vision of his ride on THE MILLIONAIRE in the straight and was reminded of the rules with respect to the use of the whip forward of his horse’s shoulder.
The Stewards questioned Trainer S Siva into the improved performance of AUSSIE EAGLE (R Shafiq). He stated that AUSSIE EAGLE had stayed in Penang and had been freshened up during the week and that the gelding was ridden more aggressively from the wide barrier. He further stated that apart from the run on 26th October 2019, the gelding’s form had been consistent. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding “in- and-out” running. (MRA Rule 117(3)).

OLIVER (App S Hafis) was slow to begin.
App P Haris, in the presence of his Trainer, HS Lim, was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 121(7) for returning more than 1kg over the weight he weighed out on ASTRO FAME.
App P Mogun, the rider of MULTIBLUE SHARK, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MULTIBLUE SHARK revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of BLUE DANUBE (Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality. BLUE DANUBE which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 5 (R1374) CLASS 4 (A) – 1400M
LUCKY COIN, a course scratching as it was bruised right knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
ONE MORE ACHIEVER (S Salee) which was very fractious in the barrier, reared when the gates were released and was slow to begin.
Jockey HS Gill, the rider of HAPPY SIXTYSIX reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of HAPPY SIXTYSIX revealed no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of SAKURA JAPAN (AK Lim) and ONE MORE ACHIEVER revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R1375) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M
CERDAN which was up 24kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
Jockey C Goon, the rider of AUDACIOUS, got his whip entangled in the reins at about the 300M.
SMART EAGLE (App P Mogun) laid in approaching the 200M, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten the gelding.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TARZAN BOY (J Low) bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
Jockeys K Eirwan and R Shafiq, the riders of POLO BOY and OPTIMUS respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of POLO BOY and OPTIMUS revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of AUDACIOUS revealed no obvious abnormality.
SMART EAGLE returned having cast its near hind plate.
The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of NORTHERN KNIGHT in the absence of Trainer PS Kumaran into the gelding’s improved performance today. Jockey S Ruzaini stated that the only explanation he could offer was that NORTHERN NIGHT was better suited by today’s going and racing at 1200M. His explanation was noted.

The State of Track was upgraded to “SOFT” after the running of this race.
RACE 7 (R1376) CLASS 5 (A) – 1100M
THAI BAHT, a course scratching as it had sustained a nail prick off fore foot, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Trainer MP Thwaites was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours for ROCKET FIGHTER (S Salee).
MARTELLO (App CT Lee) jumped away awkwardly and was checked shortly after the start when D’GREAT EMPRESS (J Low) shifted inwards.
Post-race veterinary examinations of MARTELLO, ROCKET FIGHTER and D’GREAT EMPRESS revealed no obvious abnormality.

POST-RACE URINE:
20TH OCTOBER 2019
PERAK TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2019
The report dated 31st October 2019 (V19/134) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 33 bottles of coded urine samples and 35 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 20th October 2019 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
