WITNESSIMPACT THE ONE TO BEAT
1 February 2025, Kuala Lumpur
A tough day for punters on Friday with plenty of upset results and of course the defeat of Antipodean in the Chinese New Year Prosperity Trophy to Pacific Padrino in the RM100 000 feature race and after a season of nine wins and just one defeat, it’s hard to believe he’s yet to have won in his first two starts for 2025. However, every cloud has its silver lining as Jason Ong and Richard Lim both opened up their Malaysian feature race wins as Faithful Leader managed to take home the Japan Racing Association Trophy for the Lim stable.
Moving on to Sunday and the feature race is the Wilayah Silver Bowl in race 8 and everything points in the direction of Witnessimpact to win again. The S Dunderdale runner has been drawn in barrier one and with PH Seow retaining the ride, she’ll claim a valuable 2kgs and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him go start to finish in front just as he won earlier in January when beating Antipodean in a rather comfortable manner. It is a long wait until the feature race but punters can look towards Hasten in race 3 to build a kitty throughout the day. The R Lines stable is in hot form of late and WW Cheah has formed a strong partnership with the stable. He rode Hasten on his local debut when finishing second to Grand Avante who has subsequently come out to finish second in class 3 company. Second up, he’ll strip fitter and should be hard to beat.
In the next race, Lucky To Win steps out for the CW Choi stable with KC Low taking the ride. He won in just his second start in Malaysia and was not disgraced in his latest effort finishing 2,5 lengths behind Red Dragonfly who is unbeaten from five starts in Malaysia.
The first race is off at 13:00 local time with ten races on the card.
