Bransom showed the benefit of one run under his belt in Malaysia to score an easy win in a Class 3 – 1020m sprint on the No. 2 track at Sungai Besi today.

It was the first success in that class for the Brazen Beau gelding who won five races from Restricted Maiden to Class 4 in Singapore. After his last win in June, he was unplaced in four runs in Class 3 before moving across the causeway to join trainer Simon Dunderdale.

His win today came just three weeks after he went with the pace but faded to finish eighth to Snow Dragon over 1200m on his local debut.

Snow Dragon was also in the line-up today and, as expected, started favourite.

But Bransom, ridden by Carlos Henrique this time, came in for strong support despite the recent results.

Big Bad Mama took up the front-running role as usual with Bransom tracking him early.

Bransom was passed by three other horses gunning for the leader at the 600m but Henrique kept his cool and kept his position on the rails in fifth place.

As the other runners swung wide making the turn into the straight, Bransom easily moved up second again on their inside.

Bransom ranged alongside Big Bad Mama at the 200m and shortly after, began to draw away and went on to win by 2-1/4 lengths.

January beat Snow Dragon in a tussle for the minor placings.

“I rode him in track work everyday this week. He galloped nicely and I was confident of a win,” said Henrique who brought up a double with the win. Earlier he scored onboard Nineoneone for trainer Tan Eng Peow.

“He was ready for this race and the inside draw (1) helped me to get into a good position in the race. He kicked very well and won easily.”

“He (Bransom) enjoyed the shorter trip today (than the previous run 1200m),” said Dunderdale.

“It was an excellent ride by Carlos (Henrique).”
