Selangor Turf Club Spends Big in the NZB Sale
Chairman of Selangor Turf Club, Tan Sri Datuk Richard Cham Hak Lim led a delegation of new and existing owners, trainers and management staff of the Club to attend the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale at Karaka on 16 and 17 November 2022.
It was a bold move that became an instant success when the Selangor Turf Club group amassed a total of 20 horses costing a total of almost NZD1.3 million, amidst a very competitive and cosmopolitan crowd of buyers at Karaka.
Our owners and trainers walked away with some very nice youngsters as listed below:-

Notably present were owners Mr Tan Wei Kee and Mr Johnny Wood whom were rightly advised by trainer HY Cheng; owners Datuk Lai Ting Kam and Mr Tan Tiang Huat accompanied by trainer KC Tiang, Mr Eric Koh with trainer Simon Dunderdale and trainer Ooi Chin Chin who was also on site with few orders in hand.
“We are targeting to hold 50 race days in 2023. These fresh purchases would help the Club to strengthen the existing 650 horse population. Moreover, the increased race days would certainly support the ever expanding outbound telecast market of the Club’s racing picture. I am also overwhelmed by the support shown by the horse owners and trainers who took the effort to attend and made purchases at the Sale. A big thank you from the Club to all of them”, said Tan Sri Richard Cham who was very pleased with the fruitful trip to New Zealand.
