12 April 2025, Kuala Lumpur

Racing took place at the Selangor Turf Club on Saturday the 12th of April which saw 10 races completed as the 11th and final race was abandoned due to inclement weather. There were tight finishes, impressive wins and big upsets throughout the day, but it was a red letter day for trainer Richard Lines who saddled three winners on the program.

WW Cheah and Kim Power fight off Cinnamon Blaze and R Nuqman

The first of the winners was the fancied Release The Spirit in race 2 which was fought out with Pacific General in what was an agonisingly close finish with only a nose separating the first two. This was the shortest priced winner for the Lines yard as the next two arrived at big prices.

Kim Power was the second of the treble with WW Cheah completing a double as well. He beat the heavily backed favourite Cinnamon Blaze as Kim Power hit the front but almost hit the front too early as Cinnamon Blaze, although headed, fought right back down to the line where only a head was declared as the winning margin. Kim Power first up in the country had some decent trials heading into this race but the winning dividend showed RM188 for the win.

The final of the treble was completed by Electronic Boom who came from nowhere to fly up and beat the heavily backed Wins Eight in the final stages of the final race. Wins Eight pretty much looked a winner from the jump, went to the front in the rain, shot clear at the top of the straight and looked almost a certain victor. However, all the while Shazmin and Electronic Boom were quietly working their way into the race on the outside and in the dying strides to the line Electronic Boom quickened up to win by a neck. Electronic Boom certainly sent shockwaves as he won at RM145 for a win.

J Ong saddled a treble of winners as well with all of The Wild Prince; Pacific Star and Pacific Victory to cement his place at the top of the Trainers Championship. Of the jockeys, only WW Cheah and R Nuqman (Sincefoon Hero & Boomba) rode more than one winner with the pair celebrating a double each. Racing returns to the Selangor Turf Club next week Sunday on the 20th of April.
