Apprentice I Fikri takes his first race ride
Apprentice I FIKRI is set to have his first race ride at Selangor Turf Club on Saturday, New Year’s Day auspiciously coincides with the opening race day of the Malaysian racing season for 2022.
Apprenticed to trainer Lawson Moy, 24 year old Fikri, who hails from Kelantan, has qualified through the Selangor Turf Club Apprentice School by having 37 official trial rides for a number of trainers.
Head of the Apprentice School, L L Tai said that Fikri is a hardworking student who had applied himself diligently in all aspects of the School’s curriculum. To date, a total of 14 students from the School has graduated to race riding with Fikri being the latest addition.
Trainer Lawson Moy also has 2021 Champion Apprentice S UZAIR under his care, who rode 20 winners in the shortened 2021 racing season, at an astonishing 17.7% winner to rides.
Apprentice I Fikri will be seen in action aboard TRUMP’S UP in Race 2, a winner of five races and will be riding last start winner LIM’S SPHERE in Race 8.
