Stick Seeker wins The Selangor Gold Cup
Trainer Lawson Moy’s Stick Seeker, will be the favourite to capture the final leg of the Triple Crown Series – Piala Emas Sultan Selangor in October.
The six-year-old by Excities, put up a sterling performance in the 23rd edition of the Selangor Gold Cup over 1600m at Selangor Turf Club on Sunday.
Stick Seeker with Apprentice Jockey W Faizal aboard, was placed in a handy seventh spot most of the journey and as the field turned and headed for the run home, he then drew out the challenge in the final 200m to battle out with Captain Jazz to win narrowly by a short head.
Stick Seeker is capable to perform well beyond the 1600m and now stands a great chance to win the final leg over the gruelling 2000m.
Trainer Frank Maynard trained Captain Jazz, who led from the start was distinctly unlucky to be headed out at the post by Stick Seeker bears watching in the next outing.
Truson and Verbal Link which finished third and fourth respectively should have a say next time out.
Both were running very well at the final stages of the race.
