Two recent imports Roar for Glory
KUALA LUMPUR: October 6, 2024
Two recent imports by leading trainer Simon Dunderdale are set to light up the local scene and hold their own even with the impending exodus of horses from Singapore to Malaysia.
LIMITLESS ROAR and INFINITY GLORY are showing that their modest record in their native countries do not portray their true potential and will continue to grow in the months ahead.
Unplaced in two runs at two, LIMITLESS ROAR was placed in four of five starts in New Zealand without winning but he created a big impression with an easy first-up win in a Class 4B – 1020m sprint on the No 2 track at Sungai Besi two weeks ago.
The son of Embellish followed that up with a sustained run to take the Mitavite Asia 26th Anniversary Cup over 1020m, again on the No 2 track, today.
Ridden by apprentice Fikri Ismail, LIMITLESS ROAR settled in third spot behind the pacemaker RICH N POWERFUL in the Class 4A race with SURFIE BOY tracking the leader from the start.
RICH N POWERFUL was nicely clear going into the straight but soon came under pressure. SURFIE BOY collared him 200m out and hit the front soon after. LIMITLESS ROAR was gradually moving into top gear and managed to get up in the last few strides to beat SURFIE BOY by a head.
“I am happy to ride him twice for two wins and I have a trophy to show this time,” said Fikri.
“Half way down the straight I knew I had a good chance of winning as he still had plenty in him. Hopefully he can go further.”
After a first-up second in Malaysia, INFINITY GLORY romped to a seven-and-a-quarter-length victory in a Class 4A – 1200m sprint two weeks ago.
INFINITY GLORY then defied a promotion to capture the Magic Millions Gold Coast Horses In Training Sale Trophy, a Class 3 – 1200m sprint, today.
After an early tussle for the early lead, the Overshare gelding broke away to lead comfortably. The five-year-old kept up a bright gallop for the rest of the journey to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths from PACIFIC FLASH.
INFINITY GLORY did not race at two and was placed in four of nine runs at three in Australia. He had another four placings in five starts at four but was later promoted to first after finishing second in one of the races.
“He got to the front easily and kept up a bright gallop all the way,” said apprentice Tuan Nurwaki Ammar who admitted that the trainer (Dunderdale) put him on the horse to take advantage of his 3-kg claim.
“LIMITLESS ROAR is a very progressive horse having won his only two races in Malaysia,” said Dunderdale.
“Strong finish to beat the stablemate SURFIE BOY by a head. He has a promising future.”
“INFINITY GLORY was up a class today and had a hard run leading in front but still managed to come out in top. He was well ridden by Ammar.”
