RACE 1 (MRA 0729)   CLASS 5 (A) – 1400M 

ROCK N ROLL which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SUPERB SWEYNESSE (S Salee) jumped awkwardly.

ROCK N ROLL (S Hafis), SUNNY FIGHTER (S Saddam), BEIJING STAR (KC Low) and RULE THE WORLD  (HS Gill) were all slow into stride.

SUNNY FIGHTER showed no early pace despite being urged.

SUPERB SWEYNESSE and RULE THE WORLD were obliged to race wide on the turn.

BEIJING STAR shifted away from the whip in the home straight.  

Post-race veterinary examinations of TILSWORTH SYDNEY (SU Lim) and SUNNY FIGHTER revealed no obvious abnormality.  SUNNY FIGHTER which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet)before being declared to race again.

RESTRICTED MAIDEN – 1100M

[2 & 3 YEAR OLD ONLY]   

EPIPHANY (S Salee) broke through the gate, returned to the start, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race. 

PRIDE OF SANTOS (App Clyde Leck) was fractious and became cast in the barrier.  The gelding was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was withdrawn at 2.19 pm.  PRIDE OF SANTOS will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

EPIPHANY (S Salee), CHARMING WIN (J Daniel) and FLEXI LAD (KC Low) all jumped awkwardly.

Approaching the 800M-mark, EPIPHANY was tightened for room when CHARMING WIN rolled in when there was insufficient room, resulting in EPIPHANY having to steady.  Jockey J Daniel was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that EPIPHANY bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Trainer S Dunderdale was questioned regarding the improved performance of CHARMING WIN.  The only explanation he could offer was that CHARMING WIN was racing in a stronger field in its last 2 runs and today’s distance suited the gelding.  Trainer S Dunderdale’s explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding “in-and-out” running.

RAPID STAKES A – 1300M

(ONLY APPRENTICES ALLOWANCES PERMITTED)

SINCERELY which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

QUICKEN AWAY (S Hafis) jumped awkwardly outwards, brushing SINCERELY        (L De Souza) .

NO REGRETS (HS Gill) and SKYDANCE ECLIPSE (S Saddam) were slow into stride.

At about the 300M-mark, QUICKEN AWAY (S Hafis) shifted in abruptly and bumped GOLDEN SARDINE (KC Low).  Jockey S Hafis was shown the video of the incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GAMESTONKS (App Clyde Leck), BIG DOCTOR (HK Cheng) and EMPEROR TAIZONG (O Chavez) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Prior to the ‘All Clear’ being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey WH Kok, rider of REVOLUTION, placed second, against QUICKEN AWAY (S Hafis), being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference at about the 300M-mark.  After considering the evidence and viewing the video, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

CLASS 4 (A) – 1200M                                    

Emergency acceptor,  TERMS OF REFERENCE was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

JOJU (O Chavez)  stood and was slow into stride.

ALL WHITE (SU Lim) was slow into stride.

POLO BOY (L De Souza) was obliged to race wide on the bend.

RICH N POWERFUL ((TK Barnabas) was racing wide on the bend.

At about the 900M-mark, RICH N POWERFUL shifted out over the heels of MODRIC (A Suriya).

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of BATTLESTAR, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of BATTLESTAR revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SIMLONG BEACH (S Saddam) and DRAGON  RYKER (WH Kok) revealed no obvious abnormality

CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M

CASTLE OCEAN and WHITE RABBIT which were down 38kgs and 20kgs in body weight respectively since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were both passed fit to start.

WHITE RABBIT (S Saddam), INVISIBLE (WH Kok) and DIGGING EIGHT (Y Aify) all jumped awkwardly.

ROCK ME EASY (App T Ammar) showed no early pace.

BRANDENBURG (TK Barnabas) was obliged to race wide on the bend and shifted in away from the whip in the home straight.

Jockey J Daniel, the rider of JULIUS CAESAR, reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of JULIUS CAESAR revealed no obvious abnormality.

Post-race veterinary examination of BRANDENBURG and CASTLE OCEAN (J Chuah) revealed no obvious abnormality.  CASTLE OCEAN, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before  being declared to race again.

MALAYSIA GROUP 1  – 1400M

AWESOME STORM and CHEVAL BLANC are course scratching as they had sustained a bruised off fore fetlock.  Both geldings will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Shortly after the jump, KONG FU PANDA (O Chavez) shifted out crowding GOOD FIGHT (App T Ammar) which in turn bumped GOLDEN KING (KC Low) which had to steady.

STREETS OF FIRE (L De Souza) was obliged to race wide on the bend.

TEOCHEW KID (App N Shahronnizam) entered the home straight wide and raced wide.

At approximately the 1100M-mark, GOOD FIGHT shifted in over the heels of KONG FU PANDA and bumped WECANDO (S Saddam) inwards.

At about the 800M-mark, WECANDO was racing tight on the inside of GOOD FIGHT and had to steady when crowded for room.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MISTY SWIFT (KC Tham) and TEOCHEW KID revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer HY Cheng and Jockey HS Gill were questioned regarding the running of SHANG CHI today.  Trainer HY Cheng stated that he had expected SHANG CHI to come from off the pace.  Jockey HS Gill explained that he was held up at about the 200M-mark  behind GOOD FIGHT and had to shift in for clear running in the straight.  The Stewards noted their explanations, however, Jockey HS Gill was warned that he should ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.

LIMITLESS VENTURE, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

ARIF (A Suriya) reared at the jump when the start was effected.

DISCRETELY RED (S Saddam) was obliged to race wide on the bend 

Approaching the crossing, RADETZKY MARSCH (App Z Syafifie) ducked in sharply and bumped ARIF.  App Z Shafifie lost the use of his off side iron  momentarily.  In this incident, DISCRETELY RED, which was following, was inconvenienced.

A post-race veterinary examination of DISCRETELY RED revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer S Hamilton, when questioned regarding the improved performance of  LEATHERHEAD, explained that in its last run, LEATHERHEAD suffered interference and today’s distance suited the gelding.

PENANG STAR, a course scratching as it had sustained a cut on the right hip and bruised left hip (float injury), will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

PENANG GENERAL which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Acting on veterinary advice that INTROIT (KC Low) was lame near fore, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 5.19pm.  INTROIT will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

MYSTICAL STAR (App N Shahronnizam) and PENANG GENERAL (R Narendran) were both slow into stride.

PENANG GENERAL showed no early pace despite being urged.

WINNING SMILE (App Z Syafifie) was obliged to race wide on the bend.

Jockeys HK Cheng and R Narendran, the rider of CHIEF OF ARMY and PENANG GENERAL respectively, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examination of CHIEF OF ARMY revealed no obvious abnormality and PENANG GENERAL returned lame near fore.  PENANG GENERAL will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

PENANG SPRINT TROPHY MEETING 2024 

Trainer S Hamilton was questioned with regards to the improved performance of SIMLONG BEACH (S Saddam) in the above race.  She explained that she had kept SIMLONG BEACH fresh and that, coupled with the “Good” track, suited the mare.  Trainer S Hamilton’s explanation was noted and her attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding “in-and-out” running.


GENERAL REPORT(S) – PRTC 

RACE 7 (R0691), CLASS 5 (B) – 1400m (sc), SOCIETY HANDICAP

SUNDAY, 14TH JULY 2024, PERAK JULY MEETING 2024 

Trainer R. Lines was questioned with regards to the improved performance of TRAFALGAR (AM Aizat) in the above race. The only explanation he could offer was that TRAFALGAR was racing in a weaker field compared to its previous run and that, coupled with the “Good” track, suited the gelding.  Trainer R Lines’ explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding “in-and-out” running.

The report dated 26th July 2024 (V24/114) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 26 coded urine and 28 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 14th July 2024, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.
