The Panel noted the explanation of Jockey R Nuqman.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App S Shazmin, the rider of FA FA STAR, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, EP Tan, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BILLY ELLIOT and NORTHERN ALLIANCE between the 900M and the 800M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Shazmin’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day, to be deferred, with effect from 24 March 2025 and to expire on 30 March 2025, both dates inclusive.  In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1000/-.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the 250M, PULSE BOMB (App S Shazmin) which was hanging out, was bumped in by ACHILLES PEGASUS which was shifting in away from the whip from the 350M.

A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by App S Shazmin, the rider of the PULSE BOMB, the second placed horse, against the winner, ACHILLES PEGASUS (App A Azizi) on the grounds of interference at the 250M.  

After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection as it could not be satisfied that without the above incident, PULSE BOMB would not have finished ahead of ACHILLES PEGASUS.

The start of this race was reviewed pertaining to COMMANDER which was drawn barrier 6. In this regard, it was established that as the start was effected, COMMANDER (B McDougall), reared up in the stalls which led to Jockey B McDougall being dislodged. The Panel of Stewards was of the view that any prejudice suffered by this gelding, was as a result of its own behavior. Therefore, COMMANDER was deemed a runner.

Jockey HS Gill (ACE SOVEREIGN) was examined by the Club Doctor who stood him down from his riding engagement for the remainder of the races today.

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 March 2025 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of SO WE FIGHT (App T Ammar).

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, advised him to ride his mounts so as to leave no room for query from the Stewards.


RACE 11 (R0172) CLASS 5B – 1400M (SC A6), SUNDAY, 9 MARCH 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 March 2025 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of ARABIAN NIGHTS and took evidence from Jockey KC Tham, the rider of the gelding.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, he was reminded not to cover unnecessary ground in races.

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 March 2025 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of ICHIKA BACHIKA and took evidence from Jockey KC Wong, the rider of the gelding.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, advised him to ride his mounts so as to leave no room for query from the Stewards.


RACE 3 (R0138) CLASS 5A – 1150M (Track II +4), SATURDAY, 1 MARCH 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 March 2025 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of MONDAY and took evidence from Jockey HS Gill, the rider of the gelding.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.


RACE 12 (R0147) CLASS 5A – 1600M (LC A4), SATURDAY, 1 MARCH 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 March 2025 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of PACIFIC RAINBOW and took evidence from Jockey TH Koh, the rider of the gelding.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.


POST RACE URINE:                                  

1 MARCH 2025

SELANGOR TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2025

A report dated 7 March 2025 (V25/034) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 36 coded urine and 36 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 1 March 2025, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded “37259” which revealed the presence of “Methamphetamine”. After decoding the sample number, it was established that this sample was reported to have been taken from the horse “NO MORE DELAY”, which finished first (1st) in Race 8 on Saturday, 1 March 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club March Meeting 2025.

On 12 March 2025, Trainer WC Lim was advised of the contents of this report and his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 134(12) which prohibits this horse from racing until it is cleared by the Stewards, and MRA Rule 137(1)/MRA Regulation 46.1 & 46.2 relating to the referee sample. An Inquiry related to this matter will be conducted at a date to be fixed.

No prohibited substances were detected.
