Ammar celebrates Malaysia Day with double

Apprentice Tuan Nurwaki Ammar, who won five races (from just 11 rides) last month, continued his good run with a double astride ANSU and WHIZ FIZZ at Sungei Besi here today.
The winning duo were among his five winners in August and brought up back-to-back wins today.
ANSU arrived from New Zealand in September last year with a record of one win and three placings in 10 starts.
The Press Statement gelding was unplaced in two runs eary in the year. He began to show form after a short break with two placings before breaking through in his last start in a Max Two event over 1300m.
A confident Ammar sent ANSU to the front on settling down in the Malaysia Day Stakes today and the five-year-old set a steady pace. The favourite SHANG CHI made vain bid on the rails in the final 100m but ANSU held on well to win by three quarters of a length.
“After going to the front, I took a steady on him and waited for a final effort in the straight. He fought and won well,” said Ammar who won his debut ride early this year.
“I am happy with so many winners of late and that has boosted my confidence. It’s all thanks to my boss who gave me all the rides.”
Ammar’s master Simon Dunderdale who trains ANSU said: “ANSU has take a while to acclimatise after arriving from New Zealand. Stepping up to Class 3 and he won well today. Ammar rode a very good race.”
Ammar and Dunderdale completed a double in the next event, the Sky World Racing (Class 4 – 1200m) with odds-on favourite WHIZ FIZZ who also led from start to finish.
Winner of one race in 11 starts in Singapore, the Argentinean gelding has picked up three wins in nine since arriving in Malaysia.
Dunderdale saddled a third winner today when odds-on favourite OLYMPIA easily won the Sky Racing International (Class 5 – 1100m) race.
Sharing honours with Dunderdale today was trainer Wayne Lim who was successful with MIEJ, GOLDEN HORSE and BACK TO THE FUTURE, the latter two ridden by apprentice Mohamed Lukman.
Jockey Md Khairil Zulkiflee also landed a double on TITAN PEAGSUS and XANTHOS.
