SELANGOR GOLD CUP AN OPEN CONTEST
There are numerous chances in the Selangor Gold Cup with three group winners engaged in the group one contest. Last year’s G1 Tunku Gold Cup winner AWESOME STORM, arguably Malaysia’s premier sprinter over the past two seasons, will head the weights (60kg) and will be racing over the mile for the fist time. Recent G1 Penang Sprint trophy winner, BERRY BLISS is in career best form and has been freshened since that victory from barrier 13. This year’s G1 Tunku Gold Cup winner, SAN ANDREAS failed last start but has maintained solid form, including his 3rd placing in the Penang sprint Trophy. The weights will play a big part in Sunday’s feature with some progressive types receiving big weight advantages on their higher rated rivals. PASIR PINJI, boasting an excellent Malaysian record of 8 wins from ten starts, makes his group one debut while LEOPARD ECLIPSE backs up from his 1400m victory here last Saturday. Stable mate SACRED GURU broke the winning drought when defeating SINCERELY a fortnight ago and could provide the value on the lightweight.
