25 April 2025, Kuala Lumpur

Racing takes place on Sunday the 27th of April for the last meeting of the month and the Selangor Turf Club will host an 11 race program with race 1 off at 12:30pm local time. Take note that races 1-3 will be contested on the short course; R4-R7 on Track 2 and the remainder of races 8-11 will take place on the long course.

Red Dragonfly bounced back to winning ways in his last start taking his Malaysian record to 6 wins from 7 starts only tasting defeat on one occasion since moving to Malaysia. He rises up in class in race 8 and faces Class 3 opposition for the first time but does come in with a handy galloping weight of just 53kgs. The usual jockey, CK Khaw retains the ride for the CC Ooi trained runner and with the light weight, they’ll be looking to make it 7 wins from 8 starts. The surprise package could be Flying Nemo if he jumps on terms. He has a terrible habit of being slow away but stepping up to 1400m could be the trick to allow him time to work back into the race if he is slow away.

Faithful Leader steps out for the R Lim stable in race 9 in a competitive class 2 event over 1400m, the same track and trip in which he finished a gutsy second to Antipodean who is arguably one of the best horses in Malaysia. In that race, Te Akau Ben finished 4,5 lengths behind Faithful Leader and is only 0,5kg better off at the weights this time round. On paper, it does look like Faithful Leader should hold Te Akau Ben at bay, but I think you can expect a much better effort from the S Dunderdale runner and it should be a closely contested race.

These are a few runners to follow on the day of what is a rather tricky card with no clear standouts which should make the dividends pay a reasonable amount with some good value on offer.
