After the running of this race an objection was lodged by the 3rd placed horse HUNTER PEGASUS (S Ruzaini) against the 1st placed horse HARVEYWALLBANGER (App S Shazmin) and the 2nd placed horse LIM’S SINAI (S UZAIR) on the grounds of interference in the straight. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Objection Panel overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Panel took into consideration the finishing distanced between the runners at the finish and that, from the side on angle in particular, it could not be definitively established that but for the incident in question, HUNTER PEGASUS would have finished ahead of HARVEYWALLBANGER and LIM’S SINAI. Accordingly, the objection was overruled and the judge’s result was allowed to stand.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey L De Souza, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding JOJU he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BARBARIAN (App S Shazmin) at the 300m. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Panel imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 2 race days. Jockey L De Souza waived his right of appeal and requested a deferment which was granted by the Panel. Suspension dates: 9 September 2024 – 15 September 2024 both days included.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Apprentice M Ekdihar, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding MELODY FAIR he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to OLYMPIA (L De Souza) and TRIBUTO (WW Cheah) in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Panel imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 2 race days and a fine of RM1000 in lieu of 1 race day. Apprentice M Ekdihar waived his right of appeal. Suspension dates: 2 September 2024 – 14 September 2024 both days included.
