JB Kaingeh battles to seventh win in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Apr 13, 2024
JB KAINGEH has been a model of consistency since he crossed the causeway to join the stables of Simon Dunderdale with six wins and eight placings in 17 starts prior to today, racing mostly in Class 5.
This year, the Australian gelding has taken his game up a notch. A win in Class 5 was quickly followed by another in Class 4 two weeks later two months ago.
JB KAINGEH subsequently ran fourth last month but he bounced back with a gutsy win in a Class 4 – 1400m handicap at Sungai Besi here today.
Ridden by Ruzaini Supien who rode him in his last two starts, JB KAINGEH settled just behind the pace set by WAR SNIPER in a very compact field.
WAR SNIPPER led into the straight with JB KAINGEH trying to get to him next on his outside and IRONCLAD coming through nicely on the rails. The trio were almost in a line at the 200m.
The hard-ridden JB KAINGEH finally surged ahead 100m out and went on to win by a neck. WAR SNIPER was headed by IRONCLAD momentarily but fought back to take second placing, a neck in front of IRONCLAD.
“JB KAINGEH always gives his best,” said Dunderdale. “This is his seventh win in Malaysia from only 18 starts and eight minor placings as well. Well done Ruzaini for the good ride.”
Purchased for A$100,000 as an unraced two-year-old, JB KAINGEH was placed four times in 21 starts in Singapore without winning.
“He (JB KAINGEH) is a good type and is very genuine at this level. I am looking forward to his next performance,” said Ruzaini who brought up a double following his win on GOLD SKY BILLION in the previous race.
