Four winners for emerging trainer NM Selvan
KUALA LUMPUR: Feb 18, 2024
Jockey-turned-trainer Mogana Selvan a/l S Ramiah enjoyed his best meeting yet when he won half the card of eight races at Sungai Besi here today.
Selvan had a very successful first season last year when he saddled 26 winners to finish 11th in the trainer’s table.
The momentum has continued into the new season and he is currently fourth in the table with seven wins.
Putting his faith in his stable apprentice Azizi Awang, Selvan won the opening race with BARBARIAN and the pair went on to score again with CAVALLA COURT and ARTHUR PEGASUS.
BARBARIAN started joint favourite and prevailed by a neck to record his fifth win in the country after a winless campaign in Singapore.
CAVALLA COURT was a runaway winner when picking up fourth win in Malaysia and his fifth overall.
ARTHUR PEGASUS was another runaway winner, notching his ninth win in the MRA circuit.
“I have been working hard and I am glad that I was given the chance by my trainer,” said Azizi. It was his first ever treble. “I am also happy that my trainer managed to win four races today.”
Selvan saddled his fourth winner of the afternoon when RS DIAGO (Ruzaini Supien) recorded his fourth win in the Class 5 – 1400m handicap.
