SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2017

STATE OF TRACK: Good (Races 1 to 7), downgraded to “Yielding” after Race 7.
Panel of Stipendiary Stewards:
Mr Marcus J Weedon (Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward), Mr Philip Anderson (Senior Stipendiary Steward), Mr Thanaraja Kasinathan (Stipendiary Steward), Mr Nigel Chong (Stipendiary Steward) & Mr Jarry Chong (Stipendiary Steward).
RACE 1 (R1165) CLASS 5 – 1400M (LONG COURSE B)
DELTA WING (Lou Ho) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race at the request of the jockey and was passed fit to start.
D’GREAT LEGION (KC Wong) was slow to begin.
SUNTZU (C Goon) laid out approaching the first bend causing TRUMPS UP (App W Faizal) to be trapped wide. SUNTZU continued to race wide with no cover around the bend and then laid out again on straightening. A post-race veterinary examination of SUNTZU revealed no significant finding. SUNTZU which was beaten 24 ½ lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance. The gelding was impounded.
At the 1000M LIM’S RANGER (App A Zaimuddin) was switched to the left to avoid the heels of NOVA ACE (Y Aify), taking FLY HIGH (App AK Lim) towards the inside and causing TWODOLLARMUPPET (SU Lim) to be tightened on the inside and lose its position.
Jockey SU Lim, the rider of the winner, TWODOLLARMUPPET, was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 41(6)(c)(i) for hitting his horse forward of the shoulder.
A post-race veterinary examination of D’GREAT LEGION revealed no significant finding. D’GREAT LEGION which was beaten 23 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

RACE 2 (R1166) CLASS 4 – 1400M (LONG COURSE B)
ARECIBO (J De Souza) was slow to find its stride.
JERAM VILLAGE (SS Vanan) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 1000M, JERAM VILLAGE laid out briefly causing AUD DOLLAR (App S Zulfikri) to take a minor check.
Between the 500M and the 400M, ARECIBO was forced to switch out twice to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 400M, JERAM VILLAGE laid in under pressure causing Jockey SS Vanan to stop riding for a few strides in order to straighten it.
AUD DOLLAR laid out under pressure in the closing stages.
A post-race veterinary examination of PICASSO revealed that it was diagnosed with upper respiratory tract abnormality. PICASSO which was beaten 25 1/4 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

RACE 3 (R1167) CLASS 4 – 1400M (LONG COURSE B)
The saddle on PERFECT PEARL (SS Vanan) was readjusted behind the barriers.
PERFECT PEARL was urged to take the lead and raced well clear of the field until the 300M. The Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of PERFECT PEARL. After taking initial evidence from Jockey SS Vanan and Trainer L Moy, the rider and Trainer of PERFECT PEARL, the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed. A post-race veterinary examination of PERFECT PEARL revealed no significant finding. The gelding was impounded.
GRAND SHOW (App AM Aizat) was racing in the fifth position until the rider eased in the last 100M, and GRAND SHOW finished sixth. A post-race veterinary examination of GRAND SHOW revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
LIKA TIGER (App AK Lim) was switched out in the closing stages to continue its run.
The winner, ARC CARA (App S Zulfikri) laid inwards in the closing stages.

RACE 4 (R1168) OPEN MAIDEN – 1400M (LONG COURSE B)
On leaving the stalls, BIG GHOST (App A Zaimuddin) laid in causing ADMEISTER (F Yap) and D’GREAT ARES (SS Vanan) to race tight together and jostle each other for the first 100M.
At about the 1000M, GOLDEN CHOICE (App WK Lee) shifted slightly to the outside causing D’GREAT ARES to be pushed to the right and have to check off the heels of ADMEISTER. After taking evidence from Jockey F Yap and Jockey SS Vanan and reviewing the films, it was established that no particular rider was to be blamed for this incident and as such the Stewards deemed it as a racing incident.
Turning into the straight, BIG GHOST raced greenly, shifted out abruptly, lost momentum and finished tailed out.
HK DOLLAR (H Bukhari) raced greenly and continually laid out in the straight.
At about the 300M, HK DOLLAR laid out in response to the jockey drawing his whip causing ADMEISTER to check and lose momentum.
ECLIPSE FORCE (Y Aify) which was beaten 23 1/2 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.

RACE 5 (R1169) METRO A – 1700M (LONG COURSE B)
FORTUNIQUE (App KC Wong) was very slow to begin. The gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
At about 400M, DROGBA (SU Lim) shifted out, taking SUNNY (App L De Souza), DRAGONFLY (M Zairi) and GOOD BABY (App AK Lim) to the right. At the same time, LISTEN (Y Aify) shifted inwards in response to the jockey drawing the whip causing GOOD BABY and DRAGONFLY to take a check and lose momentum. Jockey SU Lim and Jockey Y Aify were both shown the film of the incident, and were severely reprimanded and warned that they would be expected to display greater awareness of other horses and riders.
The Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of TRUSON. After taking initial evidence from Jockey F Yap, the rider of TRUSON and Trainer F Maynard who was representing Trainer S Cook, the Trainer of TRUSON, the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed. A post-race veterinary examination of TRUSON revealed no significant finding. The gelding was impounded.

RACE 6 (R1170) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE B)
This race was run in heavy rain.
All riders returned to scale an average of 2 to 3kgs overweight due to the adverse weather conditions.
App AK Lim, the rider of CATCH ME GREAT, reported that his horse did not handle the going.

RACE 7 (R1171) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE B)
This race was rescheduled to start at 4:30pm due to rain delay.
The State of Track was downgraded to “Yielding” after the running of this race.
Acting on veterinary advice that TEDDY BEAR (Y Aify) was found to have sustained superficial skin laceration on the near hind and to be lame near hind (float injury), the gelding was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 2:19pm. TEDDY BEAR will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
On leaving the stalls, App S Zulfikri, the rider of BANKERS CALL, had his feet out of the irons and never regained them at any stage during the race. The Stewards opened an inquiry into this incident and after taking evidence from App S Zulfikri, in the presence of his Master, Trainer PS Kumaran, the Chief Starter and the Assistant Starter, the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
POLO BOY (App AK Lim) was slow to begin.
LIM’S INVINCIBLE (App A Zaimuddin) raced fiercely on the outside in the first half of the race. From the 600M to the 400M, DIRAC (Lou Ho) was forced to race wide on the outside of LIM’S INVINCIBLE.
At about the 400M, KUTTNER (SU Lim) began to lay in under pressure. At about the 300M, KUTTNER had to be straightened to avoid the heels of POLO BOY. At about the 200M, when passing POLO BOY on the outside, he again laid inwards causing POLO BOY to check and at the 100M, he had to be straightened to avoid the heels of LIM’S INVINCIBLE.

RACE 8 (R1172) CLASS 4 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE B)
This race was rescheduled to start at 5pm due to knock-on effect of rain delay in Race 7.
IMMORTALITY (App L De Souza) was late to get to the post due to a jockey change as App S Zulfikri felt unwell at a late stage and was subsequently stood down by the Club Doctor.
Jockey Lou Ho, the rider of CHIPS, felt unwell at the barriers and was subsequently declared unfit to ride by the Club Doctor. As there was insufficient time to arrange for a replacement rider, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of CHIPS at 5:02pm.
MR DREYFUSS (App AM Aizat) was slow to begin.
SO THE THING (SS Vanan) jumped out to the right causing ZHAN SHEN (App WK Lee) to be brushed to the right and bumped with MR DREYFUSS.
SEE FOR YOURSELF (C Goon) raced wide throughout.
IMMORTALITY shifted out under pressure in the concluding stages.

RACE 9 (R1173) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE B)
JUST DUIT (C Goon) spread a plate and had to be reshod behind the barriers.
YOU DA ONE (SU Lim) was a little slow to begin.
On leaving the stalls, KING ROULETTE (H Bukhari) jumped slightly outwards and brushed PERFECT PRIZE (App A Aizat) which lost its position and then had to be urged to obtain a forward position.
Approaching the 1000M, KING ROULETTE was over-racing on the outside without cover.
After 50M, MR MIURA (App AK Lim) rolled in causing JUST DUIT (C Goon) to take a slight check and lost its position. ALOHA (App A Zaimuddin) was forced to check in turn to avoid the heels of JUST DUIT.
