Leaving the 800M, THUNDERSTORM had to be eased when awkwardly placed on the inside of NIMBUS COURAGE and PACIFIC DELIGHT.
A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by the Mr. L Moy, the Trainer of the second placed horse THUNDERSTORM against the winner PACIFIC DELIGHT, on the grounds of interference at approximately the 800M.
After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. Consequently, the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, THUNDERSTORM would have finished ahead of PACIFIC DELIGHT, therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge’s result to stand.
The Stewards, today, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of DIAZ. Evidence was taken from Jockey Z Khairil and Trainer NM Selvan, the rider and trainer of DIAZ respectively.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, Jockey Z Khairil was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that despite his mount obtaining an advantage in the field from about the 900M to the 750M, he unreasonably restrained his mount despite having the opportunity to hold in his position on the rail, which restraint ultimately resulting in DIAZ becoming awkwardly placed, stumbling, having to ease and lose a significant distance in the running.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey Z Khairil’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) months with effect from 9 December 2024 and to expire on 8 March 2025, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM10,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey R Shafiq (ANSU) was examined by the Club Doctor who stood him down from his riding engagements for the remainder of the races today.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey AK Lim, the rider of NOAH KHAN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ANGEL’S ONG at approximately the 900M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AK Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day, with effect from 9 December 2024 and to expire on 14 December 2024, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM2,000/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 2 (R1090) CLASS 4A – 1020M (Track II), SUNDAY, 1 DECEMBER 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2024
Jockey WW Cheah (SNOW DRAGON) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Panel of Stewards considered the application for a stay which was granted. The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.

Trainer S Siva was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for breaching the condition regarding trainer’s scratchings for HAZARD in Race 3 on Sunday, 8 December 2024.
