At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey AK Lim, the rider of SMALL CHILLI, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SMALL CHILLI, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PROVOCATEUR (App T Ammar) and NEW GARDEN (CK Khaw) leaving the 800M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AK Lim’s guilty plea mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 10 June 2024 and to expire on 15 June 2024, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey Z Khairil (CAVALLA COURT) appeared before the Panel and explained that his instructions were to sit midfield on CAVALLA COURT. Trainer NM Selvan appeared before the Panel and explained that his instructions were to sit midfield. The Panel pointed out to the Trainer that in each of CAVALLA COURT’s recent starts, the Jockey jumped out with the intent to go forward, however, today, it was evident from the footage of the race that the Jockey had jumped out with a hold on the horse that would result in the horse being dropped in behind runners. The Panel explained to the Trainer that this amounted to a change in tactics and therefore he was fined RM1000/- under MRA Rule 35 (8).

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of FLYING DURUMI, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding FLYING DURUMI approaching the 1100M mark, he adopted a racing line which resulted in FATAL ATTRACTION being pressured in and EXIT STRATEGY which was positioned inside FATAL ATTRACTION, having to ease.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 10 June 2024 and to expire on 15 June 2024, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM2,000/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, App K Pavinthran, the rider of FROM THE NAVY, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, C Leck, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding FROM THE NAVY at approximately the 1100M mark in this race, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to FATAL ATTRACTION, FLYING DURUMI, NIMBUS FLARE, THOUSAND MILE EYE and WATCH OUT BOSS.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App K Pavinthran’s guilty plea mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 10 June 2024 and to expire on 23 June 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

BE YOURSELF (HS Gill) was inconvenienced on at least 2 occasions from the 200M when awkwardly placed on the inside of CHIEF OF ARMY (SU Lim) which shifted in away from the whip marginally and thereafter was carried in by MGR ROCKET (Z Khairil) which was hanging inwards in the straight and shifted in away from the whip.
A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Jockey HS Gill (BE YOURSELF), the rider of the fourth placed horse against the third placed horse, MGR ROCKET (Z Khairil) on the grounds of interference from the 200M.
After considering the evidence in this matter, the Panel overruled the objection and allowed the judge’s result to stand as from the footage, it could not be established that but for the incident, BE YOURSELF would have finished ahead of MGR ROCKET.
GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
RACE 7 (R0542) METRO A – 1150M (Track II +6), SUNDAY, 2 JUNE 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2024
The Stewards, on Sunday, 9 June 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of FA FA STAR and took evidence from Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of FA FA STAR.
After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, highlighted the inconsistency of Jockey S Ruzaini’s riding and advised him that should he appear before the Panel regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.
SUNDAY, 9 JUNE 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2024
App I Fikri (SAHM) broke his whip during the running of Race 6. Additionally, App A Azizi’s and Jockey Z Khairil’s whips were inspected respectively and both were found to be defective. Both whips were confiscated by the Stewards and warnings were issued to both riders regarding the use of defective equipment.
AMENDMENT
RACE 8 (R0543) OPEN MAIDEN – 1020M (Track II +6), SUNDAY, 2 JUNE 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2024
A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Jockey J Daniel (CHARMING WIN), the rider of the second placed horse against the winner, GULF EAGLE (S Ruzaini) on the grounds of interference in the straight.
After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered that it appeared at all times down the straight that GULF EAGLE would race passed CHARMING WIN, notwithstanding the afore- mentioned incident.
Consequently, the Board was satisfied that but for the above incident, CHARMING WIN would not have finished ahead of GULF EAGLE, therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge’s result to stand.

The report dated 30 May 2024 (V24/082) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 30 coded urine and 32 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 26 May 2024 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
