The Stewards granted permission for App M Lukman to replace App R Nuqman on BIG LAWYER as the latter was unable to make the carded weight. App R Nuqman (BIG LAWYER) was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 107(10) for failing to make the carded weight.

Jockey KC Tham was fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 41(7) in he was the person responsible for MEWTWO being equipped with a defective gear prior to this race.

RACE 5 (R0460) STAYER STAKES A – 1797M (Track II +6)

This race was rescheduled to start at 4pm.

4	BLACK THORN (SU Lim)	Raced wide in the early stages and carried outwards at the 1500M. Jockey’s whip was briefly entangled with the reins at the 300M, thereafter Jockey lost the use of his left side rein.
5	GOLDEN KING (S Ruzaini)	Over-raced early. *(See Report)
6	SEMANTAN PRINCE (R Shafiq)	Slow to begin. Raced onto the heels of runner.
7	TORNADO PEGASUS (App A Azizi)	Jumped awkwardly. Returned cast off fore plate.
8	PACIFIC DIAMOND (App R Nuqman)	Slow to begin. Failed to negotiate the turn at the 1500M, became unbalanced and had to ease.
10	CAVALLA COURT (Z Khairil)	Over-raced early.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of GOLDEN KING, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding GOLDEN KING approaching the 1500M mark, he significantly reduced the speed of GOLDEN KING which resulted in him taking up the running of KING’S COMMAND causing it to race wide thereafter.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 13 May 2024 and to expire on 18 May 2024, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey KC Tham, the rider of MR G, pleaded not guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards in that he failed to ride MR G to the satisfaction of the Stewards in this race. The particulars of the charge being that whilst riding MR G in this race, his riding was passive, non-vigourous, lacking in determination and inconsistent. In this regard, his body position, reins and whip motion were not the norm of the standard expected of a Jockey, particularly when his mount was in contention at the finish.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey KC Tham’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 13 May 2024 and to expire on 12 June 2024, both dates inclusive. In addition, he was also fined RM10,000/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

TUESDAY, 7 MAY 2024, SLTC TRACKWORK

Trainer F Maynard was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for presenting CLERGYMAN with an incorrect saddle cloth number for the above trackwork.

RACE 1 (R0360) CLASS 5B – 1400M (SC A), SATURDAY, 13 APRIL 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 12 May 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of HAZARD and took evidence from App A Azizi, the rider of the HAZARD, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer NM Selvan.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, advised him that should he appear before the Board regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.

RACE 11 (R0445) CLASS 5A – 1020M (Track II), SUNDAY, 5 MAY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 12 May 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of NOVA PHOENIX and took evidence from Jockey SU Lim, the rider of the NOVA PHOENIX.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.

RACE 11 (R0445) CLASS 5A – 1020M (Track II), SUNDAY, 5 MAY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2024

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Sunday, 12 May 2024 at SLTC, Jockey O Chavez, the rider of THE SAINT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding THE SAINT, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ALWAYS INNOCENT (App H Haikal) at approximately the 700M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey O Chavez’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 13 May 2024 and to expire on 26 May 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 11 (R0445) CLASS 5A – 1020M (Track II), SUNDAY, 5 MAY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2024

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Sunday, 12 May 2024 at SLTC, App M Lukman, the rider of CITY KNIGHT, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, WC Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding CITY KNIGHT, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to GENERAL CHENG (App R Nuqman) approaching the 800M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App M Lukman’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 13 May 2024 and to expire on 19 May 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
