Jockey Z Khairil (THE STORM) appeared before the Panel of Stewards, and was shown the patrol films of the race and questioned regarding the indecisive nature of his riding in the early stages. His attention was specifically drawn to the fact that the form of this horse suggested that it races in a handy position, however, upon jumping, there appeared to be no intent to either go back and take cover nor go forward and obtain a handy position on this horse. Jockey Z Khairil explained that his instructions were to obtain cover from a deep draw and that he had anticipated with this being a sprint race, he would be able to slot in behind the front runners as the pace would be fast in the early stages. However upon jumping the pace was not as quick as he had anticipated which resulted in him being positioned wider than he preferred. He further explained that once trapped wide, he did not want to concede further ground and elected to allow his mount to stride forward in the running. Jockey Z Khairil was further questioned regarding the stride of his horse in the straight where it appeared that his mount raced awkwardly. In this regard, he explained that this horse had previously had a tendon issue and therefore had a tendency to overreach and change legs in races as well as in training. The Panel noted the explanations of Jockey Z Khairil.
