On inquiry, App A Najib (OTTAWA), in the presence of his Employing Trainer, F Maynard pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he continued to drift out causing MR GUN GUN to be restrained at about the 250M.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Najib’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 30 September 2023 and to expire on 8 October 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Threw its head badly on jumping and lost considerable ground and was subsequently ridden rearward. Had to be steadied when attempting a run near the 250M. In light of the start, the gelding will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again. |

Eased down in the straight. Vet inspection: No significant finding. In light of its performance, the gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again. |

Raced wide in the early stages. Saddle slipped sideways near the 700M, placing the rider at a disadvantage. |
The Stewards inquired into Jockey M Ewe’s riding of ROYAL FLUSH in the straight. Evidence was taken from Jockey M Ewe and Trainer HY Cheng.
After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performance of ROYAL FLUSH, the Stewards charged Jockey M Ewe under MRA Rule 44(8) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that ROYAL FLUSH was given full opportunity of winning or of obtaining the best possible placing in that he had failed to ride the mare out in the straight from the 200M mark.
The inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed in order to allow Jockey M Ewe to provide further evidence and witnesses.

RACE 5 (R0948) CLASS 5A – 1400M (LC A4), SUNDAY, 3 SEPTEMBER 2023, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2023
App R Nuqman (SMOOTH OPERATOR) who lodged an appeal against his suspension of four (4) Malaysian race days for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii), applied to withdraw his appeal on 18 September 2023. After consideration by the Appeal Panel, his application was acceded to, and his deposit was refunded. His suspension will commence on 18 September 2023 and to expire on 1 October 2023, both dates inclusive.
RACE 3 (R0994) CLASS 5A – 1250M (LC A), SATURDAY, 16 SEPTEMBER 2023, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2023
Jockey Z Khairil (BAGHDAD) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Panel of Stewards considered the application for a stay which was granted. The appeal hearing against the penalty of the suspension of three (3) months will be held at a date to be fixed.
