11	AUTUMN BLITZ (App M Ekdihar)	Saddle slipped backwards marginally mid-race. Inclined to race erratically in the straight. Apprentice advised the he should ensure he utilize a breast-plate in future.

When questioned regarding the performance of THUNDERGOD, Trainer S Hamilton advised that today’s distance was considerably shorter than she wished for the gelding as its best form was around a mile and as such she was not surprised that THUNDERGOD was in a rearward position early and that it ran home strongly.

Jockey SU Lim confirmed that he had been advised that THUNDERGOD would be beaten for pace at the 1200M but had ridden the gelding with significant vigour throughout as it was inclined to “drop off” and in the straight, it had made good ground under hard riding.

The Stewards accepted and noted the explanations, however, advised Trainer S Hamilton that she should endeavor to place her horses so as to be best suited by distance.

RACE 3 (R0946) CLASS 5A – 1200M (LC A4)

2	STAY THE COURSE (WW Cheah)	Raced fiercely in the early stages and had to be checked when crossed near the 625M.
5	BARBARIAN (Z Khairil)	Shifted out at the turn into the straight.
7	STARDICE (App I Fikri)	Fly-jumped at the start, losing ground and was inclined to hang out throughout. Shifted out passing the 650M causing runner to be restrained. *(See Report)

9	TILSWORTH JACOBI (S Hafis)	Raced wide throughout.

On inquiry, App I Fikri, the rider of STARDICE, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, L Moy, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he allowed his mount to shift in causing STAY THE COURSE to check.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App I Fikri’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 4 September 2023 and to expire on 16 September 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

On inquiry, App R Nuqman, the rider of SMOOTH OPERATOR, in the presence of his Acting Employing Trainer, M Sukri, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he allowed his mount to shift in whilst continuing to use his whip causing GURNEY DRIVE to check at the 225M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App R Nuqman’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, recent poor riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) Malaysian race days, 4 September 2023 and to expire on 17 September 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 7 (R0950) METRO A – 1500M (LC A4)

2	TOP KNIGHT (WW Cheah)	Slow into stride. Rider fined RM1000/- under MRA Rule 41(6)(b) for excessive use of the whip. Vet inspection: No significant finding.
4	BLACK THORN (S Ruzaini)	Had to be taken outwards near the 250M to obtain a clear passage.
5	SAN ANDREAS (App R Nuqman)	Due to the gelding’s poor performance, it was impounded. Vet inspection: No significant finding.

RACE 8 (R0951) SUPREME B – 1250M (SC A4)

2	SACRED REBEL (KC Tham)	Slow into stride. Poor performance – 1000M/vet.

5	GOLDEN SARDINE (MM Firdaus)	Rolled off the fence near the 800M with runner striking its heels.
6	QUICKEN AWAY (S Hafis)	Had to be steadied to avoid heels at the 800M.
8	MALAYSIA CAPTAIN (S Ruzaini)	When the start was effected, reared, dislodging rider before “All Clear”, the Stewards ascertained that the gelding was indeed a runner as its action had caused the incident. In light of this, the gelding will be required to pass 2 Starting Stall tests before being declared to race again.
9	SHANG CHI (App AB Riduan)	The saddle slipped backwards near the 1000M, then slipped sideways at about the 150M with the Apprentice becoming unbalanced in the final 3 strides.

When questioned regarding the performance of MOONGATE LIGHT, Trainer R Lines advised the he had instructed the gelding to be ridden forward or even lead, if able to do so with no pressure. Although from its outside gate, he considered this task could be difficult.

App M Seelan stated that he had pushed MOONGATE LIGHT hard from the start but it had shown sufficient pace to be in a prominent position, and that although he had slapped the gelding several times, it had failed to improve its position in the straight. It was evident from the patrol film that the apprentice had ridden to the level of his vigorous from the start but that the gelding had failed to accelerate quickly to attain a leading position. He was advised, however, that he must endeavor to improve his position mid-race when in similar circumstances.

Trainer F Maynard was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to declare riders during Declaration Day on the above date, for his horses in Race 8 (SACRED REBEL) and Race 10 (UNDER OATH).

Trainer F Maynard was also fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to submit his declaration form within the prescribed time.
