RACE 1 (R837) Class 5B – 1400M (A lc)

2	DETERMINE TO WIN (S Hafis)	Inclined to lay inwards near the 500M. Bumped, then crowded inwards near the 300M.
3	TILSWORTH JACOBI (AM Aizat)	Bumped on several occasions near the 800M.
4	ALWAYS AFRAID (App A Suriya)	Difficult to load. 1 Starting Stall test.
5	FARDUS (App R Nuqman)	Laid inwards, bumping runner at the 800M.
6	SPEEDY SWALLOW (KP Lim)	Withdrawn at 12:18pm: Refused to enter the stalls. Due to its history – 2 Starting Stall tests.
8	NOVA DASHING (M Ewe)	Dwelt when the start was effected, losing considerable ground. 1 Starting Stall test. Subsequently travelled wide throughout. Inclined to race erratically near the 1000M and had to be straightened when laying inwards.
9	JAKAMA PEGASUS (App M Lukman)	Shifted in, bumping runner near the 350M and continued to shift in, carrying runner inwards. Apprentice was reprimanded for shifting in at this stage.

RACE 2 (R838) Class 5B – 1400M (A lc)

1	CHER (Z Khairil)	Trainer questioned. *(See Report). Vet inspection: No significant finding.
3	JJ STAR (M Ewe)	Withdrawn at 12:44pm: It was ascertained that the gelding was stepping short and stumbling at the start – 1000M/vet (2 weeks embargo) & to be ridden unaided to the start.
4	APOLLO ROCK (App WW Cheah)	Raced wide and in a fierce manner from its outside stall throughout.
7	CHIEF CLERK (R Rueven)	Slow into stride. Vet inspection: Respiratory distress – 1000M/vet (1 month embargo)
9	OVERSEER (D Prastiyou)	Took the turn into the straight wide.

When questioned regarding the poor performance, Trainer NM Selvan advised he had only recently taken over CHER’s training. He stated that he had instructed that it should be ridden in a similar fashion to when winning. He could offer no explanation but undertook not to start the mare for 3 weeks. A post-race veterinary examination of CHER revealed no significant finding.

RACE 3 (R839) Class 5A – 1700M (A lc)

2	LIM’S UNIQUE (App I Fikri)	Shifted in passing the 300M, causing runner to steady.
3	SHANGANI (App A Najib)	Carried out near the 1000M.
4	HENG KINGDOM (M Ewe)	Carried wide passing the 1000M.

8	READY TO SEVENLUCK (S Ruzaini)	Bumped at the start, losing ground. Taken wide from the 1100M. *(See Report)
9	TIN’S MACHINE (App WW Cheah)	Shifted out when over-racing near the 1100M. Rider advised to exercise greater control when shifting. Carried inwards near the 300M.
10	TARZAN (App M Lukman)	Blocked for a clear run and had to be taken out across the heels near the 275M.

When questioned regarding the performance of READY TO SEVENLUCK, Jockey S Ruzaini stated that he intended to ride the gelding on the pace however, after being bumped heavily at the start, he found himself rearward, where it had commenced to race fiercely and was striding onto the heels of runners. Due to the slow pace of the race, he had elected, for safety reasons, to take the gelding wide at about the 1150M but had been unable to secure a better position closer to the fence as horses improved on his inside until straightening.

11	PURE PERFECTION (App WW Cheah)	Restrained near the 900M in general crowding. Carried inwards passing the 900M, having to be restrained. *(See Report)

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App M Lukman (ARAGON PEGASUS) in the presence of his Employing Trainer, WC Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in when insufficiently clear.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App M Lukman’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days, to be served cumulatively with any other suspension, with effect from 21 August 2023 and to expire on 2 September 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

7	WAIMEA (App I Fikri)	Whilst being loaded, the head gear came off the gelding. After being replaced, the gelding then refused to enter the stalls and subsequently withdrawn at 5:18pm. In light of its history – 2 Starting Stall tests.
8	PACIFIC ARMANI (App R Nuqman)	Laid inwards in the straight.
9	BEIJING STAR (M Ewe)	Slow into stride.
10	MARTIN VJ (App A Suriya)	Shifted in, having to straightene several times over the final 200M. Rider advised to moderate the use of his whip.

On inquiry, App M Lukman (REMO MAMA), in the presence of his Employing Trainer, WC Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for shifting in, crowding EL MACHO over the final 75M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App M Lukman’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 7 August 2023 and to expire on 19 August 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
