On inquiry, App M Ekdihar, the rider of SPIN FIRE, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Mr SY Lim pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at the 800M, crowding GOOD WARRIOR causing that horse to dip and lose ground.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App M Ekdihar’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 4 July 2022 and to expire on 10 July 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

On inquiry, App S Sia, the rider of MISE ON GARDE, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Mr R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in approaching the 800M, tightening WINNER NUMBER ONE causing that gelding to be restrained with AUSSIE EAGLE which was following, to be inconvenienced.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Sia’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 4 July 2022 and to expire on 10 July 2022, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 4 (R762) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M (A SHORT COURSE)

1	TRINITY PIONEER (App R Nuqman)	When questioned, rider stated that he had intended to ride in a forward position, however, had been crowded and eventually was in a rearward position. From this stage, the gelding failed to respond and finished last. Vet inspection: Lame near fore – Vet exam (3 weeks embargo)
2	BLOOD ROYAL (L De Souza)	Crowded near the 100M.
4	GOOD FIGHT (R Rueven)	Reared prior to the start and jumped awkwardly, unbalancing rider, thereby losing ground. Raced wide throughout. Trainer fined RM250/- for failing to declare cross-nose band.
5	LEO (App S Shazmin)	Drifted out shortly after the start. Rider reprimanded.
7	SHINE SHINE (MM Firdaus)	Jumped awkwardly and lost ground, then raced wide, taking the turn into the straight extremely wide. Rider stood down by Club Doctor from his riding engagement for his remainder rides.
10	OBSIDIAN (App K Pavinthran)	Slow into stride and raced wide throughout.
11	IAMBUTTER (Y Aify)	Had to steady shortly after the start when LEO drifted out. Brushed the running rail several strides on straightening. Blocked for clear running near the 250M and when taken out passing the 175M, was inclined to lay inwards, crowding runner.

11	CAPONE (App R Nuqman)	Jumped awkwardly, losing ground. Rider’s rein became entangled with the mane at the turn into the straight.

Objections were lodged by Jockey HS Gill (WHITE HOOF BIRD), placed third, against BLACK THORN (R Rueven), being declared the winner and ARC TRIUMPH (J Shankar), placed second, alleging interference over the final 100M. The Panel of Stewards dismissed the objections.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 9 (R756) SUPREME A – 1250M (A SHORT COURSE), SATURDAY, 25 JUNE 2022, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2022

When questioned, Jockey R Woodworth (AWESOME STORM) stated that he had been instructed to go forward and to take a sit unless able to get a soft lead. He believed he had crossed easily from his wide barrier, although having to work in some regard to obtain the lead. Further that on straightening, although travelling well, as soon as he asked AWESOME STORM for an effort, the gelding failed to respond but only faded in the last 75M.

Trainer S Dunderdale confirmed these instructions, however, was of the opinion that AWESOME STORM had been asked to work too hard in being asked to lead and he considered that this had taken a toll on the gelding in the straight. He advised that AWESOME STORM had pulled up well and that the gelding would not start for three (3) weeks.
