The Stewards inquired into Jockey KC Tham’s riding of BEIJING STAR. Evidence was taken from the rider and Trainer HY Cheng’s Assistant Trainer. Jockey KC Tham stated that the gelding had dwelt when the start was effected and he had lost considerable ground and had steadiedly made up ground to follow the field by the 750M. On straightening, he had allowed BEIJING STAR to become balanced before riding vigourously from near the 375M. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that it was lame off fore.
After taking into consideration BEIJING STAR’s poor trial history whereby it had been referred for trials and failed on several occasions and the post-race veterinary reports, the Stewards considered they could not substantiate a charge against Jockey KC Tham under the Rules however, he was severely reprimanded for what they consider was a lack of vigour.
Trainer HY Cheng’s Assistant Trainer was advised that given BEIJING STAR’s history, it will be required to pass 2 (1000M/vet) tests before being declared to race again.

8 |
LEOPARD ECLIPSE (App A Nazir) |
Veered inwards on jumping, crowding runner. |
The Stewards questioned App S Uzair (FLYING BABY) and Trainer CC Ooi related to the riding of the gelding. It was established that FLYING BABY was ridden in a rearward position after being tightened by LEOPARD ECLIPSE shortly after the start and that the gelding had tended to lay outwards from the 800M. App S Uzair stated that he had purposely ridden with the whip in his non-preferred right hand as the gelding had hung out at its previous start. Further, FLYING BABY had again laid outwards in the straight and that he had attempted to straighten whilst riding with the whip in the right hand.
Whilst accepting this in part, the Stewards severely reprimanded App S Uzair for what they considered was a lack of vigour in trying to ride his horse out albeit when laying outwards.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
RACE 2 (R1205) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M (A LONG COURSE), SATURDAY, 15 OCTOBER 2022, SELANGOR TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2022
The Stewards concluded an inquiry into App S Shazmin’s riding of D’GREAT DUCHESS in the above race.
After taking initial evidence from App S Shazmin, the rider of D’GREAT DUCHESS, in the presence of his Employing Trainer’s representative, and also Trainer S Siva, the Trainer of D’GREAT DUCHESS, the Stewards considered they could not substantiate a charge in terms of the Rule. However, App S Shazmin was severely reprimanded for not having positioned D’GREAT DUCHESS in a midfield position in the early stages of the race.
Trainer S Siva was advised that his riding instructions must be consistent with prior racing styles unless specifically advised to the Stewards.
