At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey B Pinheiro (PERFECT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in at this stage causing WATCH THE THRONE to check.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey B Pinheiro’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days, to be deferred, on 4 June 2023 and 11 June 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App M Ekdihar’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 29 May 2023 and to expire on 4 June 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
APPEAL BY JOCKEY CALVIN GOON TUCK LEE (C GOON) AGAINST THE SUSPENSION OF TWO (2) MONTHS AND FINE OF RM20,000/- FOR CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 44(10) IMPOSED BY THE PANEL OF STEWARDS RELATED TO HIS RIDING OF RACEHORSE “BIG G” IN RACE 2 (R110) ON SUNDAY, 29 JANUARY 2023 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB JANUARY MEETING 2023
The Selangor Turf Club Appeal Panel heard the above appeal on Friday, 26 May 2023.
After considering submissions from Jockey C Goon, his legal representative, Mr. V.K. Raj from Messrs. A. Rajadurai P. Kuppusamy & Co., App A Suriya (Jockey C Goon’s witness) and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, the Appeal Panel dismissed the appeal.
The Appeal Panel substituted the sentence of 2-month suspension and RM20,000/- fine with a warning and advised that he should ride his mounts in a more positive manner to give his horse a chance to be more competitive.
The deposit was refunded.
RACE 2 (R515) CLASS 5a – 1400M (E lc), SUNDAY, 14 MAY 2023, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2023
The Stewards investigated the essence of a report on post-race received from the analyst that OFFICIAL (unplaced) had “failed the pre-race testing criteria”.
USAINS Biomics has been asked to clarify certain significant aspects of their report including:
-
the reporting of an antibiotic;
-
the delay in reporting, given the result of the pre-race sample was advised only after the race;
-
the non-advice of the interruption to the pre-race analysis.
RACE 4 (R554) CLASS 4a – 1175M (II), SUNDAY, 21 MAY 2023, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2023
App WW Cheah (MYO) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The Appeal will be held at a date to be fixed.

No prohibited substances were detected.
