Although the Stewards accepted this as accidental, Jockey SU Lim was warned that he must stop riding with his whip when his horses shift ground.

RACE 3 (R323) CLASS 5 (A) – 1500M (LONG COURSE)
BERLINETTA (KC Wong) which was standing with its head turned sideways, missed the start. An inquiry into the riding of BERLINETTA was opened. Jockey KC Wong was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10). The particulars of the charge being that he did not present BERLINETTA to jump properly prior to the start being effected, thereby missing the start causing BERLINETTA to be ridden in a rearward position.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey KC Wong’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 19 April 2021 and to expire on 18 May 2021, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
App A Suriya (BELIEVER) was questioned as to why he kept looking down in the run to the first turn. He stated that he believed BELIEVER was striding badly, and also was not showing any pace. Trainer C Leck stated that he might have erred in starting BELIEVER on consecutive weekends and that the gelding had been unsuited by this. It was his intention to space BELIEVER’s runs in future.
BELIEVER was inclined to drift in under pressure in the straight when struck with the whip.
At the 250M, Jockey Y Aify (LA FAMILIA) broke his whip.
BERLINETTA was held tight near the 75M when IDEAL GUIDE (App WW Cheah) shifted in.

RACE 4 (R324) CLASS 4 (A) – 1500M (LONG COURSE)
It was established that there was an anomaly in Race 4, No. 7 was incorrectly printed, and should be amended as “TIME TO INVEST (K376)”. An announcement to the effect was made to correct this.
Acting on veterinary advice that JUSTICE FAIR had sustained an injury to its both hind legs (float injury), the gelding was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 1:15pm. The gelding will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
WALKING THUNDER (App S Uzair) was slow into stride.
After being slow to begin, SHADOW SPEED (R Shafiq) was carried inwards by WALKING THUNDER. SHADOW SPEED then commenced to race very fiercely and shifted out, carrying WALKING THUNDER wide.
SHADOW SPEED raced extremely wide until into the straight. When questioned regarding this, Jockey R Shafiq stated that SHADOW SPEED had raced extremely fiercely, and the gelding quickly became uncontrollable and he had taken SHADOW SPEED outwards as a safety precaution. In light of this, Trainer CC Ooi was advised that SHADOW SPEED will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
TIME TO INVEST (HS Gill) raced wide in the early stages.
SOUTHERN MAN (SU Lim) was inclined to lay inwards from the 250M, brushing GOOD NEWS (J Low) at about the 200M. SOUTHERN MAN was then taken out to obtain a clear passage when FIRST LIGHT (L De Souza) drifted out over the concluding 75M.
A post-race veterinary examination of TIME TO INVEST revealed no significant finding.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App WW Cheah, the rider of STAY THE COURSE, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for shifting in at this stage.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App WW Cheah’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. GENERAL REPORT (S) – SLTC
RACE 2 (R291) CLASS 5 (A) – 1400M (LONG COURSE), SATURDAY, 10 APRIL 2021, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2021
The Stewards, on 14 April 2021 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded the inquiry into Jockey HS Gill’s riding of ELITE BEAST in the above race. Jockey HS Gill stated that he had been instructed to ride ELITE BEAST where it was comfortable and to wait until straightening before putting pressure on. Trainer BT Lim advised that ELITE BEAST had a habit of getting its head up and racing with its mouth open. Further, that the gelding was broken winded and seemed reluctant to gallop freely when off the bit.
The Stewards viewed two (2) of ELITE BEAST’s performances (one when winning) from Singapore where it had raced with its head in the air. Trainer BT Lim stated that ELITE BEAST resented any form of noseband which he had tried on the gelding.
In considering the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that ELITE BEAST’s racing mode and manner was to be ridden without being subject to undue early pressure and that it had proclivity to race with head high action.
Trainer BT Lim was advised that it was expected that ELITE BEAST be ridden in future consistent with these traits in mind.
RACE 8 (R297) CLASS 4 (A) – 1100M (SHORT COURSE), SATURDAY, 10 APRIL 2021, SELANGOR TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2021
The Stewards, on 16 April 2021 at the Selangor Turf Club, inquired into Jockey W Faizal’s riding of EBRAZ (placed 5th) in the above race. Evidence was taken from the gelding’s trainer and rider, Trainer AB Abdullah and Jockey W Faizal respectively.
After reviewing the films and considering the evidence, Jockey W Faizal, the rider of EBRAZ, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being; that his level of riding in the straight, was insufficiently vigourous to ensure that EBRAZ was properly tested.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey W Faizal’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months, to be deferred, with effect from 19 April 2021 and to expire on 18 August 2021, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
REPORT OF ANALYSIS ON CLEARING SAMPLE
A Clearing Sample taken from WINNING STAR, which was received on 28 March 2021 by the USAINS BIOMICS Laboratory [report dated 8 April 2021 (CLS/V21/001)], was analysed and reported to be negative to Prohibited Substances and as such, WINNING STAR is cleared to resume racing under MRA Rule 134(12).
