RACE 1 (R788) CLASS 5 (B) – 1300M (LONG COURSE)
On jumping, ASIAN JET (J Daniel) veered inwards and bumped MOOGATE GOLD (App WW Cheah) heavily which was tightened by SPARKLE LOT (MM Firdaus) which shifted out. Jockey J Daniel was warned the he must afford runners on his inside sufficient room.
From its wide barrier, TRINITY FLYING (HS Gill) raced wide in the early stages.
The saddle on MOONGATE GOLD slipped backwards mid-race.
Trainer HY Cheng was questioned as to the reason that SHOW ROYALE (App AB Riduan) had led as opposed to its previous start. He stated that the gelding was stepping up to 1300M from the 1100M when he had instructed that the horse to be ridden where it was comfortable on the pace. However, SHOW ROYALE had jumped only moderately and able only to race in midfield. He instructed the same today and App AB Riduan was able to easily lead from its inside barrier. Trainer HY Cheng was advised that he is expected to ensure that SHOW ROYALE would be ridden in consistent fashion in future.
A post-race veterinary examination of NEWTON (S Zulfikri) revealed that the gelding bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of SATELLITE GENIUS (Y Aify) revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of ASIAN JET revealed no significant finding.

COMMODORE LINCOLN (Y Aify) was slow into stride.
NORTHERN KNIGHT (SU Lim) shifted out sharply and tightened TWENTYSIXTWELVE (J Daniel) which caused FIVE HUNDRED (C Goon) to check. FIVE HUNDRED was then ridden in a rearward position.
At a conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey SU Lim, the rider of NORTHERN KNIGHT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted out at this stage. In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey SU Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Selangor Turf Club race days with effect from 18 October 2021 and to expire on 30 October 2021, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
Running to the turn near the 1000M, UNLIMITED STAR (App WW Cheah) shied outwards quickly, inconveniencing ATTENTION (HS Gill) which then carried LUCK MAK MAK (L De Souza) wide. UNLIMITED STAR then raced erratically in the straight. Trainer R Lines was advised to take remedial action with the gelding.
NORTHERN KNIGHT was inclined to lay inwards in the straight.
A post-race veterinary examination of LUCK MAK MAK revealed no significant finding.

RACE 3 (R790) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M (LONG COURSE)
PEARL DANCER (C Goon) raced wide in the middle stages.
Trainer C Leck was questioned as to the reason STAY SOUND (placed third) had led by a considerable margin as opposed to its rearward performance on 2 October 2021. He stated that he was mystified as to how STAY SOUND had led so easily as he believed the gelding would have displayed a considerable different attitude than its previous starts in order to be able to race prominently. He could only offer a suggestion that STAY SOUND was fresh, given that he had confined the gelding work with swimming since its previous start. Whilst accepting that STAY SOUND had not been ridden vigourously from the start nor mid-race, the Stewards advised Trainer C Leck that it was expected that STAY SOUND to be ridden in a similar fashion, leading or handy, in its future starts.
UNION JAC (App R Nuqman) was slow into stride.
D’GREAT STRIKE (KC Wong) was inclined to lay inwards in the straight.
App AB Riduan (LET’S COME ON BABY) reported that from a wide barrier, LET’S COME ON BABY did not relish the shifting nature of the track.
The saddle on ULURU (L De Souza) slipped backwards on straightening.
A post-race veterinary examination of UNION JAC revealed that it returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

In light of the gelding’s actions, Trainer C Leck was advised that UPSTART will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
Near the 1000M, MAGIC SEVENTY TWO (App R Nuqman) which was racing wide, veered outwards away from the heels of ATLANTIC ARROW (S Ruzaini) and continued to race wide until into the straight.
At the 850M, BANG BANG (App A Suriya) steadied when crossed by LUCKY TIGER (App AB Riduan) and shifted in. This caused PROPLAYER (SU Lim) to be restrained. On inquiry, App AB Riduan was reprimanded for failing to afford sufficient room when crossing.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
RACE 6 (R761) CLASS 3 – 1300M (SHORT COURSE), SUNDAY, 10 OCTOBER 2021, SELANGOR TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2021
Jockey M Ganeesh (CHINESE TEA) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Panel of Stewards considered the application for a stay which was not granted. The appeal hearing against the penalty of the disqualification of eighteen (18) months and fine of RM50,000/- will be held at a date to be fixed.
FRIDAY, 15 OCTOBER 2021, SLTC TRACKWORK
Trainer HY Cheng was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for presenting GOLDEN CRAFTSMAN with an incorrect training saddle cloth number for the above trackwork.
RACE 9 (R764) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE), SUNDAY, 10 OCTOBER 2021, SELANGOR TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2021
The Stewards, on 15 October 2021 (Friday), inquired into Jockey S Zulfikri’s riding of AUSSIE EAGLE in the above race. Evidence was taken from Jockey S Zulfikri and Trainer S Siva, the rider and trainer of AUSSIE EAGLE respectively.
After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performance of AUSSIE EAGLE when winning on 26 September 2021, the Stewards found Jockey S Zulfikri guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that:
- He had unduly restrained AUSSIE EAGLE at the start although instructed to be in a handy-to-mid position;
- He remained behind SUPER BB (AK Lim) from the 450M until into the straight although presented with opportunities to improve his positon;
- His whip action and its veracity in the straight were inconsistent in affording AUSSIE EAGLE the best chance to improve.
The Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Zulfikri’s recent riding record, mitigating factors and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) months, to be deferred, with effect from 18 October 2021 and to expire on 17 January 2022, both dates inclusive. He was also fined the sum of RM20,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 10 (R765) CLASS 5 (A) – 1100M (SHORT COURSE), SUNDAY, 10 OCTOBER 2021, SELANGOR TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2021
At the conclusion of an inquiry today (17 October 2021), Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of D’GREAT SONG, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in near the 800M causing KUBERA’S CHIEF (App R Nuqman) to check.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Selangor Turf Club race days with effect from 18 October 2021 and to expire on 30 October 2021, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 9 (R764) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE), SUNDAY, 10 OCTOBER 2021, SELANGOR TURF CLUB OCTOBER MEETING 2021
The Stewards, on 17 October 2021, concluded an inquiry into Jockey S Ruzaini’s ride on LIM’S TORPEDO. Jockey S Ruzaini explained that he had been instructed to ride in rear position consistent with its previous start although the gelding was drawn on the inside.
On jumping, he had been bumped by MERCURIAL TURN (J De Souza). He had then been behind that gelding and was unable to improve until straightening. When attempting a run on straightening, he had been marginally blocked when BAOYE CHAMPION (App AB Riduan) had drifted in and although he had placed LIM’S TORPEDO thereafter under significant pressure with the whip, the gelding had failed to past a horse in the straight. His explanations were noted.
