TARZAN (Y Aify) showed no pace in the early stages.
THAI BAHT (M Ganeesh) showed no pace in the early stages, despite Jockey M Ganeesh administering reminders at intervals from about the 1000M. When questioned, Jockey M Ganeesh reported that his instructions were to relax the gelding and conserve his energy for a late finish but THAI BAHT raced with little enthusiasm in the early stages. Jockey M Ganeesh further stated that THAI BAHT displayed some response when urged in the middle stages and caught up to the remainder of the field. However in the straight, the gelding displayed a tendency to shift away from the whip under pressure and he felt unable to use his whip with full vigour. He added that due to THAI BAHT’s greenness under pressure, the gelding was denied a clear run on more than one occasion. A post-race veterinary examination of THAI BAHT revealed no significant finding.
Approaching the 400M, D’GREAT RISE (J Low) was disappointed for a run on the heels of CONFOUND (S Ruzaini).
From the 400M, TRUMPS UP (App S Uzair) had a tendency to lay inwards under pressure causing the rider to ease and correct on several occasions.

ALRINA (Z Khairil) was slow to find its stride.
LIM’S STARDOM (App A Zaimuddin) raced greenly and laid inwards in the early stages.
DAHEES (O Chavez) shifted inwards under pressure from the 200M.
CHARLIES MISSILE (App WK Lee) which was beaten 23 lengths, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a poor performance.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, App AM Aizat, the rider of HALO BRIGHT, in the presence of his Master, Trainer F Maynard, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at about the 1200M, he moved across DAHEES when not sufficiently clear, causing that horse to be carried inwards towards CHARLIES MISSILE which in turn was carried onto TILSWORTH JACOBI (J Low), which was severely checked.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App AM Aizat’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of App AM Aizat’s suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) Malaysian race days with effect from 23 July 2018 and to expire on 5 August 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5:45pm).

RACE 5 (R879) METRO A (SW) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)
OPTIMUS (M Ganeesh) reared as the gates opened and was slow to find its stride.
D’GREAT SONG (App KC Wong) jumped inwards and crowded D’GREAT CONQUEROR (App AM Aizat) on the outside of BRILLIANT DEAL (App W Faizal), which was bumped outwards by HATTA (S Ruzaini).
Between the 600M and 500M, D’GREAT CONQUEROR was forced to ease in order to avoid the heels of COMMANDO ECLIPSE (Y Aify) which laid in around the bend. As a result of this, Jockey Y Aify was warned by the Stewards that he must show greater awareness of runners on his inside in future.
Approaching the 300M, BIG BOSS (App WK Lee) was shifted outwards to obtain clear running.
At about the 100M, LUKE MAN (F Yap) laid outwards abruptly and bumped with D’GREAT SONG and became unbalanced. D’GREAT SONG was carried outwards and bumped with BIG BOSS.
Approaching the 50M, BRILLIANT DEAL (App W Faizal) shifted out under pressure causing LUKE MAN to be briefly eased in order to avoid his heels in the latter stages. App W Faizal was warned that he must exercise greater care to keep his horses straight under similar circumstances in future.
JERAM VILLAGE (Z Khairil) was forced to race wide in the middle stages in an attempt to make progress. When questioned, Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of JERAM VILLAGE, stated that his instructions were to race with cover. However, he felt that JERAM VILLAGE was struggling to maintain the pace over today’s shorter distance of 1200M, and therefore allowed JERAM VILLAGE to continue to race wide in order to maintain his momentum.
App AM Aizat, the rider of D’GREAT CONQUEROR, returned to scale 1.8kgs overweight. Initial evidence was taken from App AM Aizat, in the presence of his Master, Trainer F Maynard, and Track Rider Muhammad Aiman Bin Mohd Nazir (TR.110), an employee of Trainer F Maynard. The Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.
JERAM VILLAGE shifted outwards shortly after the line, causing OPTIMUS (M Ganeesh) to be eased to avoid his heels. The Stewards warned Jockey Z Khairil to take greater care when pulling up after the line.

Approaching the 600M, SIX EMPIRE (C Goon) was crowded between ALWAYS D’GREAT (App L De Souza) and STEP BY STEP (HS Gill), and was forced to check.
FOR FUN ONLY was forced to race wide in the middle stages in order to maintain a forward position.
Approaching the 200M, FOR FUN ONLY laid inwards under pressure and came across SIX EMPIRE which was being shifted outwards to obtain clear running. At this point, SIX EMPIRE made contact with the heels of FOR FUN ONLY and blundered, causing the rider to lose his irons. After reviewing the vision of the incident, the Stewards established that no particular rider was to be blamed for this incident and as such the Stewards deemed it as a racing incident.
At about the 100M, METALLOCENE laid in slightly under pressure and brushed with RA FORCE (App P Mogun).
At about the 50M, STEP BY STEP laid in under pressure and briefly crowded METALLOCENE on the outside of RA FORCE.

When questioned, Trainer R Lines, the trainer of RAINBOW FISH, stated that App AM Aizat reported that the horse had run flat. He added that RAINBOW FISH had been training well during the week. He was therefore unwilling to attribute the gelding’s disappointing performance to backing up within 7 days. The Stewards instructed Trainer R Lines to report anything he subsequently discovers that may have affected RAINBOW FISH’s performance.
BAHAR was observed to over-race in the early stages.
I’M COMING BABY (App A Suriya) showed no pace in the early and middle stages despite being urged.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
RACE 6 (R848) CLASS 4 – 1300M (LONG COURSE B), SUNDAY, 8 JULY 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JULY MEETING 2018
The Stewards, on 10 July 2018 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of LIM’S ELUSIVE. Evidence was taken from App A Zaimuddin, the rider of LIM’S ELUSIVE, in the presence of his Master, Trainer BT Lim. App A Zaimuddin was assisted by Ms Ramizah Bt. Ab Rahim (SC. 35), an employee of Trainer BT Lim, as an interpreter.
Trainer BT Lim stated that this was the first time that LIM’S ELUSIVE had raced under his training, having been transferred from Singapore. He informed the Stewards that he had instructed App A Zaimuddin to take up a position where the gelding was travelling comfortably, and to ride a patient race.
App A Zaimuddin stated that LIM’S ELUSIVE was frequently changing its legs, which he reported to a Stipendiary Steward after the race. In the circumstances, he had concentrated on keeping LIM’S ELUSIVE balanced in the middle stages of the race rather than attempting to make progress towards the leaders. He added that LIM’S ELUSIVE had given little response to pressure from the 400M.
Trainer BT Lim further stated that he believed that LIM’S ELUSIVE had struggled to cope with the undulations of the track, and may be better on softer going.
After reviewing the vision of the race and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards warned App A Zaimuddin that in future he must ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.
RACE 6 (R848) CLASS 4 – 1300M (LONG COURSE B), SUNDAY, 8 JULY 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JULY MEETING 2018
The Stewards, on 10 July 2018 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of GOLDEN PENINSULA. Evidence was taken from App CK Khaw, the rider of GOLDEN PENINSULA, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, and Dr James Yu, Veterinary Surgeon of Selangor Turf Club.
Trainer R Lines stated that he believes that the gelding performs best when obtaining a handy position in the early stages. He therefore instructed App CK Khaw to adopt similar tactics to GOLDEN PENINSULA’s previous start in Penang, where it had raced prominently under App CK Khaw and finished second, beaten half-a-length.
App CK Khaw stated that he was unable to obtain the forward position he wanted from barrier 9, as several horses on his inside showed early speed. He therefore opted to shift in behind his stable mate, RAINBOW FISH (App L De Souza) so as not to be forced wide around the bend. Thus he found himself further back in the field than intended, and explained that although GOLDEN PENINSULA responded to pressure from the 400M, he was unable to reach the leaders. App CK Khaw added that, with the benefit of hindsight, he should perhaps have attempted to make progress on the outside of RAINBOW FISH between the 800M and the 600M.
App CK Khaw further stated that GOLDEN PENINSULA had changed his legs under pressure approaching the 200M and appeared to be moving short when returning to the unsaddling area. Dr James Yu, Club Veterinary Surgeon, reported that although GOLDEN PENINSULA displayed no abnormalities immediately post-race, the gelding was significantly lame on its near fore leg the following morning.
At the conclusion of the inquiry, App CK Khaw pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(11) in that he failed to report to a Stipendiary Steward something that may have affected the performance or the chances of his horse in the race. He was fined RM1000/- and was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, which was deferred to commence with effect from 16 July 2018 and to expire on 22 July 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (2:45pm). The Stewards also warned App CK Khaw that in future he must do his best to ride to his instructions.
TUESDAY, 10 JULY 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB OFFICIAL BARRIER PRACTICE
NOVA ACE (W2) which was lame off fore after its Barrier Practice, will be required to pass a 1000M/Vet test before being declared to race again.
RACE 12 (R854) CLASS 4 – 1300M (LONG COURSE B), SUNDAY, 8 JULY 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JULY MEETING 2018
Jockey I Saifudin (SOON SEEKER) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.
TUESDAY, 10 JULY 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB TRACKWORK
It was observed by a Stipendiary Steward on Tuesday, 10 July 2018, that the following horses were being exercised on a section of the Number 2 Turf Track that was clearly marked as not for use. The trainers and riders of the respective horses were all warned that a penalty may be imposed under similar circumstances in future.
- D’GREAT ERA (TR WW Cheah) – Trainer R Lines
- VOLCANIC GENERAL (STR KP Lim) – Trainer C Leck
- AUSONE (C Leck) – Trainer C Leck
