RACE 1 (R285) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400M (LONG COURSE A)
3 | SHOW ROYALE(SU Lim) | Drifted out passing the 250M, causing LEADING CELLIST to be restrained. Then shifted in considerably over the final 150M. Rider was struck twice with the whip of other rider and was advised that his riding of allowing his mount to drift in and out, bordered on incompetent and that a repetition would lead to significant sanction. |
4 | LEADING CELLIST(J De Souza) | Had to be restrained and taken inwards to obtain a clear passage near the 250M and crowded over the final 75M. Rider struck other rider accidentally with the whip on two occasions. |
5 | MR CONNERY(L De Souza) | Raced wide throughout. |
9 | I’M THE MAN(KC Tham) | Vet exam: Cast off fore plate & respiratory distress – 1000M/vet |
An objection was lodged by Jockey J De Souza (LEADING CELLIST), placed second, against SHOW ROYALE (SU Lim), being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 250M. The Panel of Stewards overruled the objection.

After taking evidence from App R Nuqman, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, BT Lim, the Stewards believed they could not justify a charge in terms of the Rules, however, warned App R Nuqman that his riding, particularly with regards to the veracity with which he used the whip failed to meet the standard required.

After considering the evidence and also reviewing the performance of LITTLE PONY, the Stewards found App R Nuqman guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that the Stewards considered that the use of his whip was in a feigning manner and as such, did not ensure that LITTLE PONY was fully tested.
The Stewards took into consideration App R Nuqman’s riding record, mitigating factors and his submissions on penalty. GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
TUESDAY, 1 MARCH 2022, SLTC OFFICIAL BARRIER TRIAL 7
The Stewards, on 2 March 2022 (Wednesday), inquired into the reason for LEADING CELLIST (App A Suriya) checking severely near the 700M in the above trial. It was established that “Unnamed” (K414 – KP Lim) had begun slowly, raced erratically and had charged up on the inside of LEADING CELLIST and hung out causing LEADING CELLIST to check. The Stewards warned Jockey KP Lim that he ought to exercise greater control under the provisions of MRA Rule 44(9) and further that “Unnamed” (K414), trained by Trainer M Sukri, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.
TUESDAY, 1 MARCH 2022, SLTC OFFICIAL BARRIER TRIAL 3
The Stewards, on 2 March 2022 (Wednesday), inquired into the reason for GOLDEN YEARS (App K Pavinthran) checking near the 700M in the above trial. It was established that Pre-Apprentice H Arif had attempted to lead on GIFTED and continued to shift in, causing GOLDEN YEARS to be taken inwards off the marker poles and checked at this stage. Pre-Apprentice H Arif was reprimanded for his action under the provisions of MRA Rule 44(9) and advised that approval related to his licence to ride in races would be deferred for an indefinite period.
