Ridden forward from its wide barrier upon jumping and thereafter, shifted in when insufficiently clear of runners on its inside. Hung out in the straight. *(See Report) Jockey fined RM250/- under MRA Rule 41(7) in that his horse was equipped with a defective equipment (girth). Returned cast off fore plate.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey A Suriya, the rider of NEVER ASK MORE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to LITTLE PONY, LUCKY WARRIOR and ROAD OF TIGER.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey A Suriya’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 17 February 2025 and to expire on 22 February 2025, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/.  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Inconvenienced at the 1200M. Returned cast off fore plate.

ROCKY PEGASUS which was hanging in in the straight, was carried out by INFINITY VICTORY which was directed out from the 400M. Thereafter in the concluding stages, INFINITY VICTORY was carried in by ROCKY PEGASUS which shifted in away from the whip from the 250M.

A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Trainer S Dunderdale, the Trainer of INFINITY VICTORY (CK Khaw), placed second, against the winner, ROCKY PEGASUS (Y Aify) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages.

After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection as it could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, INFINITY VICTORY would not have finished ahead of ROCKY PEGASUS.

App PH Seow appeared before the Panel and was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on PACIFIC ATLANTIC. In this regard, she explained that it was her intention to obtain cover, however after jumping well, PACIFIC ATLANTIC had found a good position and became keen in the race which was run at a slower pace than she had anticipated. Consequently, she elected to allow this gelding to lead rather than to restrain for cover as, this in her opinion, would be the least prejudicial to PACIFIC ATLANTIC. The Panel noted her explanation. Trainer D Kok appeared before the Panel and confirmed App PH Seow’s statements relating to this gelding.

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 February 2025, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of PACIFIC WARLORD and took evidence from App PH Seow, the rider of the PACIFIC WARLORD, in the presence of her Employing Trainer, J Ong.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, highlighted the inconsistency of her riding and advised her that should she appear before the Panel regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.


RACE 1 (R0090) CLASS 5A – 1150M (Track II), SUNDAY, 9 FEBRUARY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 February 2025, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of MOCHI and took evidence from Jockey AK Lim, the rider of MOCHI.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, advised her to ride so as to leave no room for query.


RACE 6 (R0095) CLASS 4A – 1300M (LC A4), SUNDAY, 9 FEBRUARY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 February 2025, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of MEGA OCEAN and took evidence from Jockey AK Lim, the rider of MEGA OCEAN.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, highlighted the inconsistency of his riding and advised him that should he appear before the Panel regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.


RACE 3 (R0092) CLASS 4A – 1020M (Track II), SUNDAY, 9 FEBRUARY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 February 2025, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of ACROBAT and took evidence from Jockey WW Cheah, the rider of ACROBAT.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action. Trainer R Lines was cautioned regarding the change of tactics adopted on his horses.


RACE 9 (R0098) OPEN MAIDEN – 1200M (SC A4), SUNDAY, 9 FEBRUARY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 February 2025, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of KITSUNE and took evidence from Jockey S Uzair and Trainer F Maynard, the rider and trainer of KITSUNE respectively.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, highlighted the inconsistency of his riding and advised him that should he appear before the Panel regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.


RACE 6 (R0095) CLASS 4A – 1300M (LC A4), SUNDAY, 9 FEBRUARY 2025, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2025

The Stewards, on Sunday, 16 February 2025, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of ETERNAL ROMANCE and took evidence from App S Bahauddin, the rider of ETERNAL ROMANCE, and Trainer C Leck, his Employing Trainer’s representative.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, informed App S Bahauddin that he will be referred back for retraining at the SLTC Apprentice School.


FRIDAY, 14 FEBRUARY 2025, SLTC TRACKWORK

Trainer SY Lim was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for presenting PALETAS with an incorrect saddle cloth number for trackwork on the above date.


INQUIRY INTO A REPORT RELATING TO A POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “37069” TAKEN FROM THE HORSE “BILLY ELLIOT” WHICH RACED IN RACE 8 ON SUNDAY, 26 JANUARY 2025 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB JANUARY MEETING 2025, AND WAS FOUND TO CONTAIN “FLUNIXIN”

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matter on Friday, 14 February 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, and evidence was taken from Trainer S Siva, the Trainer of BILLY ELLIOT.

Trainer S Siva was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for racing the horse BILLY ELLIOT which finished third in Race 8 on Sunday, 26 January 2025 at the Selangor Turf Club, and its post-race urine sample was found positive to “Flunixin”.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the type of drug, the nature of the drug involved, Trainer S Siva’s mitigating factors and previous record. Trainer S Siva was fined RM6,000/- and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), BILLY ELLIOT was disqualified from the race and the results will be amended accordingly. 


REPORT OF ANALYSIS ON CLEARING SAMPLE

The Clearing Sample which was taken from BILLY ELLIOT (Trainer S Siva) on 9 February 2024, revealed that no prohibited substance was detected and as such, BILLY ELLIOT is cleared to race under MRA Rule 134(12).

The report dated 13 February 2025 (V25/016) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 26 coded urine samples and 28 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 31 January 2025, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
