RACE 1 (R301) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400M (LONG COURSE)

LIM’S LEADER (HS Gill) dwelt at the start, losing considerable ground. In light of the gelding’s continuous tardiness, Trainer KF Coetzee was advised that LIM’S LEADER will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of LIM’S LEADER revealed no significant finding.

LUCKY VICTORY (J Low) was slow into stride.

Shortly after the start, CAPE LINCOLN (J Shankar) steadied when bumping the hind-quarters of BULLISH LUCK (App S Uzair).

A post-race veterinary examination of WINNING STAR revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R302) CLASS 5 (A) – 1400M (LONG COURSE)

The vaccination in the passport of GIGANTE DEL ANDRE (R Rueven) was verified prior to the horse being presented. On inquiry, it was established that Trainer KC Tiang had not produced the passport of GIGANTE DEL ANDRE to the Veterinary Department for endorsement when the gelding was presented for vaccination. Trainer KC Tiang was reprimanded and advised that he must ensure all paperwork is completed before declaring any runners.

SILENT PRINCE (App N Varmah) was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 1:15pm acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was lame off hind. SILENT PRINCE will be required to pass a 1000M/Vet test before being declared to race again.

Shortly after the start, D’GREAT SPEED (J Low) threw its head when crossed by BAMSI BEY (J Shankar).

Near the 1200M, KYO (App WW Cheah) and GIGANTE DEL ANDRE (R Rueven) were crowded when BAMSI BEY shifted in. BAMSI BEY continued to shift ground and pressured KYO in onto GIGANTE DEL ANDRE which became unbalanced and had to be restrained.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J Shankar, the rider of BAMSI BEY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for shifting in at this stage.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Shankar’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 19 April 2021 and to expire on 25 April 2021, both dates inclusive. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

VOYAGER (App R Nuqman) raced wide at the rear of the field.

Near the 750M, KYO steadied when LUCK HAPPY (KC Wong) rolled in slightly.

RACE 3 (R303) CLASS 4 (A) – 1300M (LONG COURSE)

At the start, STAY THE COURSE (J De Souza) crowded SATTAR (W Faizal) which bumped with FUSION POWER (J Low). Jockey J De Souza was advised that he must make more positive efforts to straighten his mount more quickly.

GUILTY PLEASURES (App A Suriya) was slow to begin and raced wide in the middle stages.

Near the 1100M, STAY THE COURSE was buffeted when MAGIC SEVENTY TWO (App A Zaimuddin) shifted inwards slightly.

SATTAR was ridden wide in a forward position in the middle stages. When questioned regarding this Jockey W Faizal stated that SATTAR had pulled hard but he had been reluctant to cross over as he believed that he was not clear. Whilst accepting his explanation, the Stewards advised Jockey W Faizal that he must position his mounts more positively in future.

RACE 4 (R304) CLASS 2 – 1300M (LONG COURSE)

EYE GUY (J Daniel) veered outwards at the start, inconveniencing SUPER HERO (J De Souza) and SARAAB (W Faizal).

DUTROW (S Ruzaini) was inclined to lay inwards over the concluding 150M.

BUENOS AIRES (KC Wong) was ridden wide throughout. When questioned regarding this, Jockey KC Wong advised that he had been instructed to ride the gelding midfield from its wide barrier. He had been crossed by a horse from his outside and he had been carried wide at the first turn by ALJAWHRA (Y Aify). Jockey KC Wong advised that he had been unable to secure a position closer to the fence and this has taken its toll on BUENOS AIRES. The Stewards advised Jockey KC Wong that his failure to secure a better racing position for BUENOS AIRES was not acceptable however, they believed they could not substantiate a charge under the Rules and warned him that a reputation could lead to a suspension. A post-race veterinary examination of BUENOS AIRES revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

CONSTANT JUSTICE (J Low) returned with a cut to its off hind leg. The gelding will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

RACE 5 (R305) OPEN NOVICE (SW) – 1300M (LONG COURSE)

CONFEAT (W Faizal) bounded in the air at the start.

AMETHYST (App K Pavinthran) jumped awkwardly, losing ground and then was inclined to race greenly.

In the middle stages, EMIRATES WARRIOR (C Goon) and HARLEY FLAME (S Salee) were obliged to race wide.

BINELZAAM (Y Aify) and HANGRY (App R Nuqman) raced greenly in the middle stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of ROCKET PEGASUS revealed that the gelding bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

RACE 6 (R306) CLASS 3 – 1500M (LONG COURSE)

SELANGOR STAR (HS Gill) jumped awkwardly, losing considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination of SELANGOR STAR revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RACE 7 (R307) CLASS 4 (B) – 1100M (SHORT COURSE)

READY TO ROLL (S Ruzaini) slipped at the start.

ITOLDYOUSO (J Shankar) jumped inwards at the start, crowding LEADING CELLIST (App A Suriya) which was eased.

Approaching the 850M, ATLANTIC ARROW (App S Uzair) checked when striking the running rail on the inside of MAESTRO ECLIPSE (App A Nazir). It was established that SCOOBY DOOBY DOO (J Daniel) had shifted in, crowding CHAMPION KING (Z Zuriman) which in turn shifted onto MAESTRO ECLIPSE.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J Daniel, the rider of SCOOBY DOOBY DOO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) for shifting in and initiating this interference.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Daniel’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record, severity of the incident and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) Malaysian race days with effect from 12 April 2021 and to expire on 24 April 2021, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

The saddle on READY TO ROLL (S Ruzaini) slipped backwards.

RACE 9 (R309) CLASS 3 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE)

GOD HELPS ME (L De Souza) steadied on the inside of SACRED GURU (App A Nazir) near the 1050M.

The saddle on HONEY BOWL (S Ruzaini) slipped backwards during running.

SACRED GURU hung inwards in the straight and near the 175M, had to be restrained when striding onto the heels of SECRET AGENT (J Low).

A post-race veterinary examination of RADICAL FORCE (Y Aify) revealed no significant finding.

A post-race veterinary examination of LARSON (KC Wong) revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

WONOSOBO (App S Uzair) shifted out at the start, inconveniencing D’GREAT STRIKE (KC Wong) which was then inclined to lay inwards.

NEWTON (S Zulfikri) jumped awkwardly.

In the early stages, TRINITY SPIRIT (SU Lim) raced wide on the outside of SPIN FIRE (HS Gill).

Over the final 200M, WONOSOBO bore out with ALRALI (W Faizal) having to steady to avoid its heels at about the 125M.

Shortly after the start SO BEAUTIFUL (L De Souza) eased off the heels of ELEGANT (C Goon).

SO BEAUTIFUL, ELEGENT, EMPEROR WARRIOR (Y Aify) and ZOLVED (S Zulfikri) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Jockey S Ruzaini (READY TO STAR) was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 41(6)(c)(i) for using his whip forward of the shoulder.
