At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey HS Gill, the rider of LIM’S RANGER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at about the 950M in this race, he failed to allow sufficient space for horses on his inside resulting in FULL BET (M Zairi) being tightened and forced to check as SONG KID (App L De Souza) laid inwards in response to being crowded.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey HS Gill’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 26 February 2018 and to expire on 4 March 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (2pm).

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC
RACE 2 (R209) CLASS 5 – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A) – BEST OF LUCK STAKES, SATURDAY, 17 FEBRUARY 2018, SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2018
The Stewards, on 24 February 2018 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of GHOST AFFAIR in the above race. Evidence was taken from App P Haris, the rider of GHOST AFFAIR, in the presence of his Master, Trainer BT Lim.
After reviewing the vision of the race and considering the evidence tendered, App P Haris pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that:
- Between the 900M and the 600M, he made no attempt to make progress on the inside of LONESOME ME (App S Saddam) when he had the opportunity to do so, and therefore remained in a mid-to-back position when he had been instructed to ride the horse forward;
- At about the 600M, he restrained GHOST AFFAIR unnecessarily and forfeited up to two lengths which resulted in GHOST AFFAIR being placed further back in the field and further behind the leaders;
- Between the 400M and the 150M, having obtained a clear run on the outside, he failed to ride with his full vigour.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App P Haris’ guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months with effect from Monday, 26 February 2018 and to expire on 25 April 2018, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (12:10pm).
