STATE OF TRACK: RACES 1 to 3 – YIELDING, RACE 4 – SOFT

RACE 1 (R028) CLASS 5(A) – 1600m (lc) START AFRESH HANDICAP

Acting on a request from Trainer Evert van Breukelen, the Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey R Rueven to replace Jockey M Yusri as the rider of MASTER JIANGMEN.

FIRE AWAY (App R Nuqman) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

MIEJ (AK Lim) was slow into stride.

RULE THE WORLD (HS Gill) over-raced in the early and middle stages.

THE JEWELLER (S Ruzaini) was obliged to race wide throughout.

RACE 2 (R029) CLASS 5 (B) – 1600m (lc) LUCKY START HANDICAP

SECOND CHANCE (KC Tham) was slow into stride.

SHYLOCK (HS Gill) over-raced in the early and middle stages.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of CHERISH reported that his mount was not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of CHERISH and MAGICAL PARK (App R Nuqman) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Panel of Stewards questioned Jockey KC Tham with regards to his ride on SECOND CHANCE today. After hearing his explanations, the Panel of Stewards were not entirely satisfied and warned him that in future, he must ride all his mounts in a manner so as to leave no room for query.

RACE 3 (R030) CLASS 4 (B) – 1400m (lc) RACING RE-BOOT HANDICAP

Heavy rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

GALAXY LAW (M Yusri), HENG KINGDOM (M Ewe), TRAFALGAR (Y Aify) and SORBETA (KC Tham) were slow into stride.

A post-race veterinary examination of MYSTERIOUS CAPTAIN (App R Nuqman) revealed no obvious abnormality.

All riders returned an average of 1.5kg over.

The state of track was down-graded to ‘Soft’ after the running of this race.

RACE 4 (R031) OPEN MAIDEN (WFA) -1000m (sc) WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR STAKES

READY TO GOOD LUCK, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

REY ELVIS which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start

The Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of REY ELVIS (R Rueven) at 3.19pm, when it could not be boxed and will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

The Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of YOUARETHEBEST (KC Tham) at 3.21pm, as it was difficult to proceed to the start and was unable to be loaded, as such, and will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test [to be ridden unaided to the start] before being declared to race again.

Heavy rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

All riders returned an average of 2.0kg over.

Due to the inclement weather and the underfoot conditions, the remainder of today’s races were abandoned.

GENERAL REPORT –PRTC

PERAK JANUARY MEETING – DAY 1, SATURDAY. 7^TH JANAURY 2023

RACE 6 (R027) CLASS 5 (B) – 1100m (sc) HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY HANDICAP

The Panel of Stewards today concluded an Inquiry into the running and handling of SUNTZU, trained by Trainer K Coetzee and ridden by Jockey M Yusri in the above race. After hearing evidence from Trainer K Coetzee, Jockey M Yusri and Dr. Reza Singam, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, PRTC and after reviewing the race videos, Jockey M Yusri was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards, in that he failed to make sufficient effort to place his mount, as instructed in the early stages and thereafter, he failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination, failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Jockey M Yusri’s disciplinary records and mitigating factors. Jockey M Yusri was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months, effective from Monday, 9^th January 2023 and to expire on Monday, 8^th May 2023, both dates inclusive. In addition, Jockey M Yusri was fined the sum of RM10,000/-. He was advised of his right of appeal (1.10pm).

RACE 5 (R032) CLASS 5(A) –1100m(sc) CURTAIN RAISER HANDICAP

ASIAN JET, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

RACE 6 (R033) CLASS 5 (A) – 1100m (sc) HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS LIFE HANDICAP

BEST BAY, a course scratching as it had sustained swollen face and muzzle, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

STAR INVINCIBLE which was up 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start
