RACE 1 (R011) CLASS 4 (B) – 1400m(lc) – RACING RE-BOOT HANDICAP
BIG CITY (Z Khairil) jumped away awkwardly and threw its head about in the early stages.
ONE MORE ACHIEVER (App J Daniel) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.
BRISTOL DIAMOND (HS Gill) was checked shortly after the start, to avoid the heels of BIG CITY.
TIC TAC TOE (M Yusri) which stood in the early stages and when racing to the 1100M, had to be checked on several occasions.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BIG CITY returned having bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
Jockey S Anandan, the rider of MAZANDRAN reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MAZANDRAN revealed the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of KARIGARA (App L De Souza) revealed no obvious abnormality and TIC TAC TOE returned with a cut to its off stifle. TIC TAC TOE will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of BIG CITY was questioned into his ride on the gelding and he explained that his instructions were to be forward, but after getting a poor jump, the gelding threw its head up and raced keenly. As a consequence, he was caught racing wide racing from the 800M until entering the straight. His explanations were noted.

RACE 2 (R012) CLASS 4 (A) – 1400m(lc) – TRACK HERALD HANDICAP
Q NINE MAGIC, a course scratching as it had a bruised off fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
LEON (Z Khairil) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.
LEON and OPTIMUS (App CK Khaw) bumped on jumping away.
BATTLE HORSE (M Hanif) and RA FORCE (AM Aizat) were slow to begin.
DROGBA (HK Cheng) was slow into stride.
Over the concluding stages at about the 150M, RA FORCE laid in and took HALO INSPIRE (HS Gill) inwards. Jockey AM Aizat, the rider of RA FORCE was shown the video of the incident and warned to keep his mount straight under similar circumstances in future.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BRAHMS AND LISZT (App L De Souza), LEON and BERCHAM (App S Saddam) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R013) CLASS 5 (A) – 1400m(sc) – CURTAIN RAISER HANDICAP
D’GREAT ACHIEVER (App CK Khaw) and LUCKY GIANT (F Yap) both raced very wide from the 800M until entering the straight.
Jockey R Rueven, the rider of JUST NAME IT reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of JUST NAME IT revealed no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BEIJING STAR (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality and AIR POWER (App L De Souza) returned with epiglottic entrapment. As such, AIR POWER will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that ROSES FOR ME (HS Gill) and BORN A FIGHTER (AM Aizat) returned with cut off hind cannon and cut near hind fetlock respectively. Both these horses will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer S Edwards and Jockey J Mallyon, the trainer and the rider of ROGER respectively into the performance of the gelding today. Trainer S Edwards stated that his instructions were to be mid to back, which is the gelding’s usual racing pattern. He further stated that the performance today is disappointing, as opposed to its last start in Kuala Lumpur. Jockey J Mallyon confirmed the instructions and stated that ROGER had got an awkward jump and got its head up and he elected to settle mid to back. He further stated that from the 1000M to the 100M, ROGER’s racing actions were uncomfortable and had a tendency to get its head up on several occasions. When he commenced to ride from the 600M, ROGER responded fairly and in the straight, only finished the race fairly. Their explanations were noted. A post-race veterinary examination of ROGER revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R014) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400m(sc) – STARTING ANEW HANDICAP
AMI ELEVEN and MAYWEATHER, both course scratching as they had a bruised off fore fetlock and bruised near fore cannon respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
PEACH BOWL (AM Aizat) was slow to begin.
Jockeys S Sandana and Y Aify, the riders of EVIL TRAIN and JETSTAR EAGLE respectively, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of EVIL TRAIN and JETSTAR EAGLE revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of GOLDEN EMPIRE (App S Saddam) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5(R015) CLASS 5 (A)– 1000m (sc)NEW DREAMS NEW HOPE HANDICAP
MIRACLE KID which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
MIRACLE KID (S Sandana) stood and RAMIFICATIONS (J Mallyon) reared when the gates were released and both these horses lost ground.
SHARON’S STAR (App J Daniel) was slow to begin.
RAJA MAHESA (App CK Khaw) had to be steadied racing to the 300M to avoid the heels of ALAN (J Low) and then again, had to be steadied racing to the 200M and shifted out to avoid the heels of HOFFMAN (App L De Souza).
Jockeys J Low and HS Gill, the riders of ALAN and NEVERUNCONDITIONAL respectively, both reported that their mounts were making respiratory noises. Post-race veterinary examinations of ALAN and NEVERUNCONDITIONAL revealed no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of HOFFMAN and EMPIRE BAY (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality and RAJA MAHESA returned with respiratory distress. As such, RAJA MAHESA will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Jockey KC Wong, the rider of BELIEVE IT OR NOT pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding BELIEVE IT OR NOT, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of RAMIFICATIONS at the 150M, resulting in RAMIFICATIONS having to be checked and EMPIRE BAY which was following, had to be steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running. In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey KC Wong’s guilty plea and mitigating factors. Jockey KC Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Panel of Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey KC Wong’s suspension to take effect from Monday, 14th January 2019 and to expire on Sunday, 20th January 2019, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4.55pm).

RACE 6 (R016) CLASS 5 (B) – 1000m(sc) – GALLOPING ONCE AGAIN HANDICAP
SUPER GOOD, a course scratching as it had a bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
MAGICAL TEN which was up 23kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
Acting on veterinary advice that LOYALTY’S ANGEL (Z Khairil) was lame near fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.33pm and the mare will be required to pass a test (1000m & vet) before being declared to race again.
DON’T FORGET THIS (KC Wong) which was difficult to be loaded, causing unnecessary delay, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.
NOVA DASHING (HK Cheng) was slow into stride.
Post-race veterinary examinations of NOVA DASHING, JET ACE (A Aucharuz), THONG’S JIAQING (App S Saddam) and HANDSOME BOSS (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that JOHNNY’S CAFE returned having cast its near hind plate.

RACE 7 (R017) CLASS 4(A) – 1000m (sc) – AUSPICIOUS START HANDICAP
SACRED SURFER and HUN YEANG ROAD, both course scratching as they had sustained a cut to its near hind leg and a bruised near fore sole respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
D’GREAT EMINENCE which was down 23kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
FIELD FORCE (Y Aify) was slow into stride.
WHITE CHIN (App CK Khaw) and CHAMPAGNE REIN (M Yusri) bumped at about the 200M. WHITE CHIN continued to shift in under whip-riding. App CK Khaw, the rider of WHITE CHIN was shown the video in the presence of his acting master, Trainer K Coetzee and he was advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances in future.
Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT EMINENCE (KC Wong), HELLO SAYANG (App J Daniel), MULTIBLUE EAGLE (App I Firdzriel) and FIELD FORCE revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 8 (R018) CLASS 4(B) – 1000m (sc) – MORE TO FOLLOW HANDICAP
SATELLITE MASTER which was down 27kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
SONNY BILL (M Yusri) which stood when the gates were released and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.
BELT AND ROAD (CK Tan) had to be steadied racing to the 900M when SUPER DRAGON (AM Aizat) rolled in.
A post-race veterinary examination of BELT AND ROAD (CK Tan) revealed no obvious abnormality.
At the conclusion of an inquiry today, App CK Khaw, the rider of RAINBOW NATION in the presence of his acting master, Trainer S Cook pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding RAINBOW NATION, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BELT AND ROAD passing the 800M, resulting in that gelding being tightened for galloping room and brushing the running rails for some distance.
In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration App CK Khaw’s guilty plea and mitigating factors. App CK Khaw was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective from Monday, 7th January 2019 and to expire on Sunday, 13th January 2019, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (6.05pm).

PENANG YANG DI-PERTUA NEGERI GOLD CUP DECEMBER MEETING 2018
The report dated 4th January 2019 (V18/151) from the Chief Analyst of USains Biomics Laboratory stated that 25 bottles of coded urine samples and 29 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 24th December 2018 for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
