RACE 1 (R0817) CLASS 5(B) – 1300m (lc) FAST FLYING 2006 HANDICAP
Emergency acceptors RAINBOW FISH, SHYLOCK and PENANG STAR were withdrawn due to a capacity field.
The Panel of Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer S Cook to remove pacifier on DIAMOND PEGASUS due to the soft going today.
DIAMOND PEGASUS (S Ruzaini) which cast its near fore plate behind the barriers, was re-shod, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.
DIAMOND PEGASUS jumped awkwardly.
PROVOCATEUR (R Narendran) jumped awkwardly and shortly thereafter, shifted inwards to race behind the field.
CHERISH (SU Lim) showed no early pace, despite being urged.
TAIWAN CAPTAIN (R Rueven) was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
Passing the 300M-mark, CHERISH was eased up when the rider felt something amiss with his mount. A post-race veterinary examination of CHERISH revealed no obvious abnormality and the gelding which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Jockeys HK Cheng (BEYOND SACRED), L De Souza (FLYING SPIDER), R Rueven (TAIWAN CAPTAIN) and App Z Syafifie (MGR ROCKET), all reported that their mounts could not handle the going today.
A post-race veterinary examination of MGR ROCKET (App Z Syafifie) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DIAMOND PEGASUS returned having cast its near hind plate.

RACE 2 (R0818) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300m (lc) SUPREME ECHO 2003 HANDICAP
CAVANA, a course scratching as it had sustained respiratory allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Emergency acceptor JULIUS CAESAR was withdrawn due to a capacity field.
THAI BAHT (S Hafis) had to be steadied when GENERAL CHENG (L De Souza) jumped awkwardly outwards and STORM TO WIN (App A Azizi) jumped awkwardly inwards, losing ground.
FAST AND SUPER (S Saddam) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
ADIRA PEGASUS (App Z Syafifie) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Jockeys Y Aify (SOLID EIGHTY-THREE), R Rueven (GEORGETOWN), App A Azizi (STORM TO WIN), HS Gill (KNIGHT LOVE), L De Souza (GENERAL CHENG) and App Z Syafifie (ADIRA PEGASUS), all reported that their mounts could not handle the going today.
A post-race veterinary examination of GENERAL CHENG revealed that the gelding returned with a cut on its right cannon and will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again. BALL AND CHAIN (SU Lim) returned with respiratory distress and as such, the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R0819) CLASS 5(B) – 1300m (lc) SOLO VENTURE 2004 HANDICAP
Emergency acceptor WINNING SMILE was withdrawn due to a capacity field.
AUSSIE EAGLE (App S Shazmin) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.
ULURU (R Narendran) slipped as the start was effected, brushed the inside gate and was slow into stride.
JJ STAR (App N Shahronnizam) and CIRCUIT STAR (HS Gill) were slow into stride.
CIRCUIT STAR raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Jockey HS Gill (CIRCUIT STAR), App H Haikal (HI KARAKA) and Jockey R Rueven (COUNTRY LAW), all reported that their mounts could not handle the going today.
Post-race veterinary examinations of I’M SMART GREY (S Saddam) and ULURU revealed no obvious abnormality.
When questioned with regards to the improved performance of BAKUTEH (S Hafis) today, Trainer P Lee stated that the extra distance and the going today in his opinion, had contributed to its improved performance. His attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding in-and-out running.

RACE 4(R0820) OPEN MAIDEN – 1300m (lc) WORTH THE WAIT 2010 STAKES
WE CAN DO IT (S Hafis) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.
Acting on a report from the Starter that WE CAN DO IT could not be boxed, the gelding was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 2.22pm and will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.
EKRAAR PHOENIX (Y Aify) was slow into stride.
Jockey KC Low, the rider of FLEXI LAD was questioned regarding his ride. He reported that after getting a good jump, his mount had a tendency to shy away from runners on the outside and thereafter, raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. He also reported that his mount dipped on a few occasions rounding the turn. The Panel of Stewards were not entirely satisfied with his explanations, and he was warned that he should ride all his mounts out in a manner to as to leave no room for query.

RACE 5 (R0821) LISTED RACE – 1400m (lc) CHARITY CUP
Emergency acceptors NO REGRETS and LEONG MA BISCUIT were withdrawn due to a capacity field.
Trainer I Ismadi was fined RM100/- under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on VINCENT’S STAR (KC Tham).
CHICAGO STAR (R Narendran) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.
CASTELO (Y Aify) was tightened for room when CHICAGO STAR jumped awkwardly inwards and JOEY (KC Low) jumped awkwardly outwards.
TEOCHEW KID (S Ruzaini) and VINCENT’S STAR were slow into stride.
Passing the 1100M-mark, AHTIMS KLIS (S Saddam) had to steady when CHICAGO STAR rolled inwards. Jockey R Narendran, the rider of CHICAGO STAR was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future, failing which action may be taken against him in future.
STORM EIGHTY-THREE (App Z Syafifie) raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
Jockey L De Souza (STREETS OF FIRE), App Z Syafifie (STORM EIGHTY-THREE) and Jockey S Ruzaini (TEOCHEW KID) all reported that their mounts could not handle the going today.
Post-race veterinary examinations of STREETS OF FIRE (L De Souza) revealed no obvious abnormality and CHICAGO STAR returned with respiratory distress. As such, CHICAGO STAR will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 6 (R0822) COSMO D – 1600m (lc) CINDY’S PET 1999 STAKE
DARCY, a course scratching as it had sustained a nail bind injury off fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
MIEJ (AK Lim) was slow into stride.
Passing the 150M-mark, the whip of Jockey L De Souza, the rider of MR MONDELLO was accidentally struck off by Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of NORTHERN STAR.
App S Shazmin who rode his 40th winner on LANKARAN today, he will be permitted to claim 2kgs with effect from 26th August 2024.
App Z Syafifie (CAPTAIN PEGASUS), Jockey Y Aify (SUCCESS STREET), App A Azizi (CHER) and Jockey AK Lim (MIEJ) all reported that their mounts could not handle the going today.
A post-race veterinary examination of CAPTAIN PEGASUS (App Z Syafifie) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 7 (R0823) CLASS 4 (B) – 1200m (sc) FOX HUNT 2001 HANDICAP
BORN TO WIN, a course scratching as it had sustained laceration off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Approaching the 1100M-mark, MODRIC bucked badly, unbalancing its rider, Jockey S Salee who was dislodged. SOMAR which was following, was hampered, unbalancing its rider, App A Azizi who was also dislodged. BALIN (App P Haris) which was racing on the outside, had to take evasive action to avoid the fallen riders. MODRIC will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
App A Azizi was exempted from weighing-in and was sent to hospital for observations. Jockey S Salee was stood down by the Club Medical Officer for the remainder of the day.
LAXON (S Hafis) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of LAXON revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Panel of Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of LAXON, ridden by Jockey S Hafis. After taking initial evidence from Jockey S Hafis and reviewing the video of the race, the Panel of Stewards adjourned the inquiry for Jockey S Hafis to produce his witness at the date to be fixed.

RACE 8 (R0824) CLASS 4(A) – 1200m (sc) NOBLE HERO 2000 HANDICAP
EMPHATIC, a course scratching as it had sustained a swollen near hind, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Acting on veterinary advice that HEARTS OF GOLD (WW Cheah) had sustained a bruised near fore fetlock, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.12pm. The gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
The Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey AK Lim to replace Jockey S Salee as the rider of BURGUNDY BUBBLES when the latter was medically stood down.
Acting on veterinary advice that DOCTOR GINGER (M Ganeesh) was lame off fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.44pm and the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Jockey HS Gill, the rider of THUNDER SPIRIT reported that his mount could not handle the going today.
Post-race veterinary examinations of LEGEND OF THE SUN (SU Lim) revealed that the gelding had returned with epiglottic entrapment and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again and THUNDER SPIRIT (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey S Hafis, the rider of FA FA STAR was found guilty to a charge for contravention of MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
The particulars of the charge are that:-

He failed to give sufficient reins to FA FA STAR to jump on terms with the field, resulting in FA FA STAR throwing its head up and losing considerable ground.
In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Hafis’s disciplinary record and mitigating factors. Jockey S Hafis was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months, effective from Monday, 26th August 2024 and to expire on Friday, 25th October 2024, both dates inclusive. In addition, he was fined the sum of RM15,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit: Fifteen Thousand Only). He was advised of his right of appeal (6.45pm).

RACE 9 (R0825) CLASS 5 (A) – 1000m (sc) PACIFIC TYCOON 2002 HANDICAP
The Panel of Stewards permitted App Z Syafifie to replace App A Azizi as the rider of GOLDEN SHOW when the latter was medically stood down.
LET’S COME ON BABY (KC Low) jumped awkwardly outwards.
Passing the 200M-mark, LET’S COME ON BABY had to switch out over the heels of CASTLE OCEAN (J Chuah) and GREATEST ALL TIME (HK Cheng) to obtain clear running.
Jockeys Y Aify and AK Lim, the riders of IPOH KAIGEH and LEGACY FIGHTER respectively, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of IPOH KAIGEH and LEGACY FIGHTER revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of CASTLE OCEAN revealed that the gelding had returned broken-winded and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

When questioned with regards to the improved performance of LANKARAN (App S Shazmin), Trainer S Hamilton stated that LANKARAN had been working well. In her opinion, the apprentice allowance and going had contributed to the gelding’s improved performance. Her attention is drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) pertaining to in-and-out running.
