RACE 1 (R0617)        CLASS 5(B) – 1300m (lc)                GALAO HANDICAP  

GOOD LUCK CHARM, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised off knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CHERISH (L De Souza) and COUNTRY LAW (S Saddam) were examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and were passed fit to start.

TRAFALGAR (KP Lim) showed no early pace, despite being urged.

YULONG DREAM (KC Low) was obliged to race wide on the turn and finished the race wide.

THAI BAHT (S Hafis) was hanging in in the straight.   Jockey S Hafis was shown the video of the incident and was warned that when his horse is shifting in, he should have changed his whip into his left hand and not use it with his right hand.

A post-race veterinary examination of THAI BAHT revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer EP Tan was questioned with regards to the improved performance of TURF PRINCESS today.   The only explanation that he was able to offer is that TURF PRINCESS was racing in a weaker field, having formerly being a Class-3 horse.   His attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding in-and-out running.

SUNNY FIGHTER, a course scratching as it had sustained respiratory allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CHAR KWAY TEOW (S Hafis) reared jumping awkwardly as the start was effected and was then slow into stride.

DIAMOND PEGASUS (App A Azizi) brushed the rail at approximately the 1000M-mark when racing tight on the inside of AUSSIE EAGLE (KP Lim).

App N Shahronnizam, the rider of MIGHT IS RIGHT reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of MIGHT IS RIGHT revealed that the gelding had returned with entrapped epiglottis and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of READY TO SEVENLUCK reported that he was held up at approximately the 1000M-mark.   An inquiry will be held into the running and handling of READY TO SEVENLUCK on a date to be fixed when Trainer R Line is available.   A post-race veterinary examination of READY TO SEVENLUCK revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BEIHAI TURBO (App P Haris) returned having cast its off fore plate and MYSTICAL STAR (KC Low) returned lame off fore.   As such, MYSTICAL STAR will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R0619)        CLASS 5(A) – 1300m (lc)                CON PANNA HANDICAP

STARHARMONY jumped awkwardly, resulting in its rider, jockey S Saddam becoming unbalanced and was slow into stride.

FIRE AWAY (KP Lim) jumped outwards.

Jockey KP Lim, the rider of FIRE AWAY reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of FIRE AWAY revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Jockey KP Lim, the rider of FIRE AWAY pleaded guilty to a charge for contravention of MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.  

The details of the charge are that he failed to make sufficient effort to ride to his instructions and thereafter, failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination in the straight, thereby failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

When deciding on a penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Jockey KP Lim’s riding record and mitigating factors.   He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) months, effective 30th June 2024 and to expire on 29th October 2024, both dates inclusive.    In addition, he was fined the sum of RM20,000/-   He was advised of his right of appeal (4.00pm).

RACE 4 (R0620)                   CLASS 5 (B) – 1600m (lc)              FRAPPE HANDICAP

MAGICAL PARK (S Hafis) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

SPEEDY SWALLOW (L De Souza) which was unable to be boxed, was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 2.22pm.   Due to its adverse history, the gelding will be required to pass two (2) starting stall tests before being declared to race again.

VILLAGE TYCOON (How Yang) and TARZAN (App M Lukman) were slow into stride.

MAGICAL PARK (S Hafis) shifted in from the whip in the straight.

Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of PENANG GENERAL was shown the video of his ride in the straight and was questioned with regards to stopping riding early.   He explained that he had felt something amiss.   He was instructed that in future, should he feel something amiss, he must immediately make a report to the Stewards and/or the Club Veterinary Surgeon after the race.

PENANG GENERAL (HK Cheng) and UNLIMITED STAR (S Saddam) which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockeys SU Lim, WW Cheah and S Saddam, the riders of TRINITY HONOR, THE JEWELLER and UNLIMITED STAR respectively, all reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations of TRINITY HONOR, THE JEWELLER and UNLIMITED STAR revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer S Shanmugam was questioned with regards to the improved performance of SUPREME SUCCESS today.   The only explanation that he was able to offer was that the going for this horse the last start was extremely bad.    He also kept SUPREME SUCCESS fresh since then.   This in his opinion, accounted for the improved performance today.

ROCK N ROLL (S Hafis) was slow into stride.

CIRCUIT STAR (HS Gill) was obliged to race wide on the turn.

ROCK N ROLL which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

App M Lukman, the rider of SUPER ATAS reported that his mount was not striding out freely.  A post-race veterinary examination of SUPER ATAS revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that KING RAVANA (AK Lim) returned lame near fore and as such, the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOLDEN TYCOON (Y Aify) collapsed in the Parade Ring on returning due to Exercise-Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage (EIPH) and was humanely euthanized.

The state of track was upgraded to “Yielding” after the running of this race.

SUSPICIOUS MIND and GOLDEN SHOW, both are course scratching. SUSPICIOUS MIND had sustained bruised both fore fetlock whilst GOLDEN SHOW had sustained sole bruised off fore.  Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

PERFECT MISSION which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.

BEAT THE LIGHT (Y Aify) had a tendency to lay out in the straight.

DISCRETELY RED (S Saddam) was drifting out under pressure.

Jockey How Yang, the rider of VILLAGE WARRIOR reported that his mount was coughing.  A post-race veterinary examination of VILLAGE WARRIOR revealed that the gelding had bled and as such, will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

App Z Syafifie and Jockey Y Aify, the riders of CAPTAIN PEGASUS and BEAT THE LIGHT respectively, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations of CAPTAIN PEGASUS and BEAT THE LIGHT revealed no obvious abnormality.

AYAAN, a course scratching as it had sustained fever will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

THE SWAN (App R Nuqman) and PROVOCATEUR (AK Lim) were examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and were passed fit to start.

KRATOS (App P Haris) which was unable to be boxed, was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 4.51pm and the gelding will be required to pass one (1) starting stall test before being declared to race again.

PURE PERFECTION (App M Lukman) jumped awkwardly, brushing the inside gate.

At approximately the 700M-mark, NEW GARDEN appears to clip the heels of LISBOA STAR (S Saddam), stumbled and dislodging Jockey S Hafis.  The Stewards deemed this to be a racing incident and as such, no further action was taken.  Jockey S Hafis, the rider of NEW GARDEN was exempted from weighing-in.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that LISBOA STAR had bled and as such, will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

Jockey AK Lim and Trainer S Deva Raj will be questioned with regards to the riding instructions pertaining to PROVOCATEUR at a date to be fixed.

Shortly after the start, IPOH KAIGEH (A Suriya) jumped awkwardly outwards momentarily, inconveniencing KNIGHT LOVE (HS Gill).

ZEUS PEGASUS (Y Aify) jumped awkwardly inwards, brushing GOLD SKY EXPRESS (AK Lim).

LET’S COME ON BABY (KC Low) was slow into stride.

STRAP MARKS (App R Nuqman) was obliged to race wide from the turn.

App Z Syafifie, App R Nuqman, Jockey HK Cheng and Jockey AK Lim, the riders of GOLD EIGHTY-THREE, STRAP MARKS, BEYOND SACRED and GOLD SKY EXPRESS respectively, all reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.  Post-race veterinary examinations of GOLD EIGHTY-THREE, BEYOND SACRED and GOLD SKY EXPRESS revealed no obvious abnormality.     STRAP MARKS returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

GENERAL REPORT

POST-RACE ANALYSIS (EQUINE):

16th June 2024 – PERAK JUNE GOLD VASE MEETING 2024

The report dated 27th June 2024 (V24/097) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory stated that 18 coded urine and 18 sets of coded blood samples from the above- mentioned race meeting were received on 16th June 2024, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.

JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES:                   

16th June 2024 – PERAK JUNE GOLD VASE MEETING 2024

The report dated 27th June 2024 (V24/098) from the Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics  Laboratory stated that two (2) coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 16th June 2024, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.  No prohibited substances were detected.


RACE 6 (MRA 0581) – GROUP 1 – BYD IPOH GOLD VASE – SUNDAY, 16th JUNE 2024 – PERAK TURF CLUB JUNE GOLD VASE MEETING 2024

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Trainer KC Tiang, the trainer of SUPER HAPPY pleaded guilty to a charge to a contravention of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(2)(b) for negligence in that he had failed to ensure that SUPER HAPPY, which finished third placing was presented to the post-race samples collections area immediately after the running of this race as required.   He was fined a sum of RM2,000/- and was informed of his right of appeal (11.33am).
