RACE 1 (R259) CLASS 5(B) – 1400m(lc) CANBERRA BELLS HANDICAP
FEISTY LEO, a course scratching as it had respiratory allergy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
GERMAN SPEED (App R Nuqman) jumped away awkwardly and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.
Approaching the winning post, GERMAN SPEED ducked out suddenly, unbalancing its rider momentarily.
App R Nuqman, the rider of GERMAN SPEED also reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of MY AIM (KC Wong) and BORN A FIGHTER (O Chavez) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 (R260) CLASS 5(B) – 1400m(lc) PINK ROCK LILY HANDICAP
GOLD COAST CAPTAIN, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
EMPEROR WARRIOR (HS Gill) jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.
FRANCES (App CK Khaw) had to check shortly after the start to avoid the heels of JUMBO STAR (HK Cheng) which rolled inwards.
FRANCES was taken wider passing the 900M when RANT AND RAVE (M Yusri) rolled out.
App S Saddam and Jockey S Anandan, the riders of LETHAL WEAPON and ULTIMATE HERO respectively, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of LETHAL WEAPON revealed that the gelding had bled and ULTIMATE HERO revealed no obvious abnormality. LETHAL WEAPON will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ANAK WARRIOR (App P Haris) and GET THE LOTSKI (KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that RANT AND RAVE had bled and as such, the gelding will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R261) CLASS 4 (A) – 1600m(lc) KANGAROO PAW HANDICAP
MR DAVID (App P Haris) jumped away awkwardly outwards and shortly after the start, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SING EXPRESS (S Muniandy).
EASTER MATE (M Yusri) was difficult to settle in the early stages and passing the 1400M, had to check to avoid the heels of LAUGHING BUFFALO (C Goon) and thereafter, continued to pull very hard and was difficult to settle.
DISCRETELY RED (App S Saddam) which was also over-racing, shifted in passing the 1200M, causing EASTER MATE to be steadied and lost ground.
INDOMITABLE SPEED (KC Wong) had to be steadied and shifted out passing the 300M to obtain clear running.
Jockey R Rueven, the rider of DIXIELAND ROCK reported that his mount was not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of DIXIELAND ROCK and LAUGHING BUFFALO which was impounded, revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R262) ENRICH STAKES A (SW) – 1600m(lc) DESERT FLAME STAKES
OCULIST which was down 22kgs in body weight since its last run, was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to race.
OCULIST (J Chuah) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to start.
OCULIST broke down passing the 400M, dislodging Jockey J Chuah, who was exempted from weighing in. The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that OCULIST had fractured its near fore fetlock and as such, was humanely euthanized.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ROYAL EXPLORER (O Chavez) and HONGCHEN (App S Hafis) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R263) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400m(sc) LILLY PILLY HANDICAP
GRAND SHOW which was up 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to race.
MAGICAL PARK (KC Wong) stood when the gates were released and was steadied shortly after the start to avoid the heels of RED EASTERN (App R Nuqman) which dipped on jumping and shifted outward.
The saddle on DETERMINE TO WIN (WK Yan) slipped backwards shortly after the start.
PEACH BOWL (HK Cheng) which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
The Panel of Stewards questioned Jockey KC Wong, the rider of MAGICAL PARK into the gelding’s apparent poor performance today. Jockey KC Wong explained that after being steadied at the start, MAGICAL PARK failed to respond to his riding and he used the whip on several occasions passing the 1200M. He also stated that MAGICAL PARK was under pressure throughout the race and when being ridden out with the whip in the straight, the gelding failed to respond to his riding. His explanations were noted.
Post-race veterinary examinations of DETERMINE TO WIN, GOOD TASTE (M Yusri) and MAGICAL PARK revealed no obvious abnormality.

DARCI SUPER (App S Saddam) and INVICTUS WARRIOR (HS Gill) bumped on jumping away.
DARCI SUPER had to steady to avoid the heels of GOLDEN STATES (App P Haris) passing the 1200M.

RACE 7 (R265) CLASS 5 (B) – 1000m(sc) GREVILLEA HANDICAP
HANDY BET, ALAN and SWIFT, all course scratching as they had sustained bruised near fore suspensory, bruised back and bruised off fore fetlock respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
GOLDEN COIN which was down 30kgs in body weight since its last run, was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to race.
NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (CK Tan) had its head turned to the outside when the gates were released and jumped away awkwardly.
GOLDEN COIN (S Salee) and CAVATINA (App P Mogun) were both slow into stride.
D’GREAT LORD (J De Souza) had to be steadied on several occasions from the 900M to the 800M to avoid the heels of MIROTIC (App A Azizi) which was shifting ground in and out.
Jockeys WK Yan, CK Tan and J Daniel, the riders of VICTORY MARCH, NEVERUNCONDITIONAL and MILITARY STAR respectively, all reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of VICTORY MARCH and NEVERUNCONDITIONAL revealed no obvious abnormality and MILITARY STAR returned with respiratory distress. As such, MILITARY STAR will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT LORD revealed no obvious abnormality and MIROTIC returned broken-winded. As such, MIROTIC will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

JOCKEY URINE SAMPLES
1ST FEBRUARY 2020 – PENANG TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2020
A report dated 19th February 2020 (V20/020) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 2 bottles of coded urine samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 3rd February 2020 for analysis under MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
GENERAL REPORT – PRTC
PANEL OF STEWARDS’ INQUIRY INTO THE RIDING AND HANDLING OF “MARTELLO”, RIDDEN BY APPRENTICE JOCKEY CT LEE IN RACE 8 (R247) – CLASS 5(B) – 1400M(sc) – 1st DAY, SUNDAY, 16th FEBRUARY 2020 – PERAK FEBRUARY MEETING 2020.
At the conclusion of an inquiry today, App CT Lee, the rider of MARTELLO, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Mr. Lim Hoon Seng and Trainer C Robert, the trainer of MARTELLO, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
The particulars of the charge are that:
- From about the 1200M to the 800M, he made no effort to get MARTELLO into a better racing position closer to the rail, when he had opportunity to do so;
- From about the 800M to the 400M, he continued to race MARTELLO unnecessarily wide.
In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration App CT Lee’s guilty plea, disciplinary record and mitigating factors. App CT Lee was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months, with effect from Monday, 24th February 2020 and to expire on Sunday, 23rd August 2020, both dates inclusive. In addition, he was fined a sum of RM10,000/- He was advised of his right of appeal (1.05pm)
REPORT OF ANALYSIS:
PRE-RACE BLOOD TEST – 1ST DAY, SUNDAY, 16th FEBRUARY 2020
PERAK FEBRUARY MEETING 2020
The report dated 16th February 2020 (V20/04) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 132 coded blood samples were received from the above mentioned race meeting for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. All samples were analyzed and none failed the pre-race testing criteria.

The report dated 22nd February 2020 (V20/05) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 66 coded blood samples were received from the above mentioned race meeting for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. All samples were analyzed and none failed the pre-race testing criteria.
