RACE 1 (R265) OPEN MAIDEN – 1400m(lc) [WEIGHT-FOR AGE]
ARTEMISTER, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Jockey J Chuah, the rider of KING FORCE was dislodged on pulling-up when his saddle slipped to his off-side at the winning post.
Jockey J De Souza, the rider of MAXIM LEGEND reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MAXIM LEGEND revealed that the gelding had returned lame off fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of D’GREAT EASY (R Rueven) and CONSENSE (KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HUN YEANG SQUARE (S Salee) returned having cast its off hind plate.
The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of SONNY BILL (HS Gill) into the improved performance of the gelding today. Trainer K Coetzee explained that SONNY BILL stood when the gates were released at its last start. The gelding was given a short spell and on returning, the gelding trialed well on the 12th February 2019 and expected a good performance today. His explanation was noted.

RACE 2 (R266) CLASS 5 (B) – 1400m(lc)
RAINBOW STAR, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
GHOST SPIRIT (App A Zaimuddin) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.
DETERMINE TO WIN (KC Wong) was slow into stride.
SUPERB SEVEN (S Sandana) hung out racing to the 800M and as a result, EMPEROR WARRIOR (HS Gill) was taken wider on the track and raced wide from there until at about the 600M.
App S Saddam, the rider of RUSH reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of RUSH revealed no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ACIPENSER (S Anandan) and DAWN PROSPECT (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DEPUTY LAW (M Yusri) returned having cast its off fore plate.

RACE 3 (R267) CLASS 4 (B) – 1400m(lc)
COLORADO PRINCE (S Muniandy) blundered on jumping away, almost dislodging its rider and as a consequence, was slow into stride.
HELLO SAYANG (App R Lingarajan) was slow to begin and showed no early pace.
IKING (J De Souza) had to be steadied racing to the 800M when KEEN DRAGON (App S Saddam) rolled in.
HELLO SAYANG raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.
Post-race veterinary examinations of FLYING WINNER (Z Khairil) and COLORADO PRINCE revealed no obvious abnormality.
Jockey S Muniandy, the rider of COLORADO PRINCE was stood down by the Club Medical Officer for today and tomorrow.

The Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey CK Tan to replace Jockey S Muniandy as the rider of SWAN SONG.
APROBACION (SU Lim) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.
SATELLITE TURBO (Z Khairil) was slow to begin.
Jockey R Rueven, the rider of JACKWIN reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of JACKWIN revealed no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of LADY LIBERTY (J De Souza) and NAPOLEON (App I Firdzriel) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Panel of Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into the riding and handling of NAPOLEON, ridden by App I Firdzriel and trained by Trainer KF Wong.
The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of BALBOA (HS Gill) into the improved performance of the gelding today. Trainer K Coetzee explained that BALBOA had a lot of racing prior to being given a 2-months break in the stable and he considered that freshened-up had led to the gelding’s improved performance. He also advised Jockey HS Gill to be positive at the start and get a forward position. Trainer K Coetzee was reminded of the Rules regarding ‘in-and-out’ running under MRA Rule 117(3) and BALBOA is expected to maintain its form.
At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of SATELLITE TURBO pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at about the 400M, he shifted out when insufficiently clear of APROBACION, resulting in APROBACION having to be checked.
In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey Z Khairil’s guilty plea and mitigating factors. Jockey Z Khairl was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective from Monday, 4th March 2019 and to expire on Saturday, 16th March 2019, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (5.15pm).

BELLA VELOCE which was down 15kgs since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.
MOGAN’S PRIDE (KC Wong) jumped away awkwardly and had to be steadied at the 1500M to avoid the heels of PURPLE RAIN LADY (App S Saddam).
MOGAN’S PRIDE raced wide from the 800M until the 600M.
SECOND CHANCE (App I Firdzriel) raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.
Jockey HS Gill, the rider of HALO INSPIRE reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of HALO INSPIRE revealed no obvious abnormality.
Post-race veterinary examinations of SECOND CHANCE and PURPLE RAIN LADY revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of HALO INSPIRE (HS Gill) into the apparent poor performance of the gelding today. Trainer K Coetzee explained that he expected the horse to get a good jump, however as the gates were released, the gelding showed no early speed, despite Jockey HS Gill’s urging. Trainer K Coetzee further explained that he could offer no other tangible explanations. The Panel of Stewards advised him to report back if he detects anything amiss with the gelding on returning to the stables.

RACE 6 (R270) CLASS 5 (B) – 1200m(sc)
WILL BE BETTER which was down 18kgs since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.
Acting on veterinary advice that D’GREAT ELEGANCE (App CK Khaw) was lame near fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.18pm. The mare will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.
DON’T FORGET THIS (KC Wong) which was fractious, dislodging Jockey KC Wong. Acting on veterinary advice that DON’T FORGET THIS had bruised its bumpersthe Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.28pm. The gelding will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.
MR DREYFUSS which was fractious in the stall, reared, dislodging Jockey Z Khairil. The Club Medical Officer checked and certified that Jockey Z Khairil was fit to ride. MR DREYFUSS was taken out from the barrier, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.
WILL BE BETTER (HS Gill) and ARCHAEOLOGY (Y Aify) bumped shortly after the start.
Jockeys J Mallyon and Y Aify, the riders of PEACH BOWL and ARCHAEOLOGY both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of PEACH BOWL revealed no obvious abnormality and ARCHAEOLOGY returned lame near fore. As such, ARCHAEOLOGY will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.
Jockey R Rueven, the rider of SGFIFTY reported that his mount was racing ungenerously. A post-race veterinary examination of SGFIFTY revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Panel of Stewards questioned Trainer K Coetzee, the trainer of MR DREYFUSS (Z Khairil) into the improved performance of the gelding today. Trainer K Coetzee stated that the gelding is better-suited by the track condition and he had instructed his rider to get a better jump and to be more aggressive in his riding tactics. His explanation was noted and he was reminded of the Rules regarding ‘in-and-out’ running under MRA Rule 117(3) and that the gelding would be expected to maintain its form.

Acting on veterinary advice that POWERFUL STAR (J De Souza) was showing abnormal behavior, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.57pm. The gelding was impounded.
LOYALTY’S ANGEL (R Rueven) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.
DICAPRIO (HS Gill) was slow into stride and had to be steadied shortly after the start to avoid the heels of DARK EXPRESS (S Anandan) which was taken in by RANGITAIKI (HK Cheng).
DICAPRIO raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.
Jockey R Rueven, the rider of LOYALTY’S ANGEL reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of LOYALTY’S ANGEL revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of RANGITAIKI which raced poorly, revealed no obvious abnormality. RANGITAIKI will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

GENERAL REPORT – PRTC
The following horses had undergone corrective surgery at the PRTC Equine Hospital between 22nd January 2019 to 21st February 2019 and as such, will each be required to pass a Stewards’ Embargo Test before being declared to race again:-
1. MONSTER ENERGY (C394) – Tr. PK Leong – Arthroscopy left knee – 1000M/vet
2. HUN YEANG ROAD (C434) – Tr. I.Ismadi – Arthroscopy left knee – 1000M/vet
3. ENERGIZER (W502) – Tr. R Lines – Arthroscope left fetlock – 1000M/vet
GENERAL REPORT – PNTC
The Stipendiary Stewards inquired into the transfer of BAYMAX from Singapore to Malaysia and questioned Trainer S Hamilton. She advised that there was a mix-up in the arrangements of the transfer between her and Trainer HS Lim in the exportation of the horse. The Stewards considered email evidence and took no further action.
