RACE 1 (R149) CLASS 5(A) – 1600m (lc) POLISH HANDICAP
MY AIM, a course scratching as it had sustained right eye corneal ulcer, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
COUNTRY LAW (How Yang) and INTROIT (S Ruzaini) were examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and were passed fit to start.
SHYLOCK (M Ewe) was slow into stride.
App K Pavinthran, the rider of GUILTY PLEASURES returned 1kg over the weight he weighed out and as such, he was fined the sum of RM1,000/- under MRA Rule 121(7) in the presence of his acting master Trainer S Deva Raj.
A post-race veterinary examination of TAIWAN CAPTAIN (HS Gill) revealed that the gelding returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that INTROIT returned having cast its off fore plate.
At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, into the running and handling of COUNTRY LAW, Jockey How Yang, the rider of COUNTRY LAW pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
The particulars of the charge are that whilst riding COUNTRY LAW, he failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination from approximately the 450M-mark till the finish.
In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into account Jockey How Yang’s guilty plea, disciplinary records and mitigating factors. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months, effective Monday, 13th February 2023 and to expire on Saturday, 12th August 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (5.15pm)

RACE 2 (R150) CLASS 5 (B)– 1600m(lc) THRIANTA HANDICAP
SPEEDY SWALLOW, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near hock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
The Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey SS Vanan to replace Jockey CK Khaw as the rider of GOLDEN EMPIRE when the latter was certified unwell.
SOON YOU THINK (App S Sia) was slow into stride.
SUCCESS STREET (S Ruzaini) had a tendency to lay in in the straight.
Jockey KP Lim, the rider of TRINITY HONOR reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises during the race. Post-race veterinary examinations of GOLDEN EMPIRE (SS Vanan) and TRINITY HONOR (KP Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 3 (R151) CLASS 4 (B) – 1600m(lc) ANGORA HANDICAP
As there were no suitable riders available, the Panel of Stewards permitted App R Ruwaidy and App Z Syafifie to replace Jockey KC Tham and Jockey CK Khaw as the rider of DISCRETELY RED and GALAXY LAW respectively.
GALILEO’S APPROACH (S Sia) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.
A post-race veterinary examination of LAGO DE COMO (How Yang) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DISCRETELY RED (App R Ruwaidy) returned having cast both fore plates.
When questioned with regards to the improved performance of GALILEO’S APPROACH today, Trainer S Shanmugam explained that on the run on 28th January 2023, he had instructed the rider to go to the front and the horse compounded in the later stages. In view of that, today he asked the rider to sit off the pace and this in his opinion, accounted for the improved performance. His attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding ‘in-and-out’ running.

RACE 4(R152) ENRICH STAKES A (SW) -1400m(lc) HOLLAND LOP STAKES
QIJI ACHEEVA which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
Jockey M Ewe, the rider of YOU ROKK reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises during the race. Post-race veterinary examinations of YOU ROKK revealed no obvious abnormality and QIJI ACHEEVA (App Z Syafifie) returned with heat stress and as such, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

RACE 5(R153) CLASS 4(A) – 1300m(lc) REX HANDICAP
SKY SIXTY-ONE, a course scratching as it had sustained sole bruised near fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
BALL AND CHAIN (M Ewe) was examined behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start
Passing the 1200M-mark, GEORGETOWN (App R Ruwaidy) became crowded and had to check when racing on the inside of SUPER SIXTYONE (App Z Syafifie) which had been carried in by SILENT BOSS (S Ruzaini). At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of SILENT BOSS pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he permitted his mount to shift in at approximately the 1200M-mark, resulting in varying degrees of interferences to GEORGETOWN and SUPER SIXTYONE.
In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s guilty plea, disciplinary records and mitigating factors. Jockey S Ruzaini was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) race days, effective from Monday, 13th February 2023 and to expire on Sunday, 19th February 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4.15pm).
At the conclusion of an Inquiry, App K Pavinthran, the rider of AFALONHRO in the presence of his acting master, Trainer R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of incompetent riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii) in that he failed to give his mount sufficient rein on jumping, resulting in it throwing its head up and being slowly away.
In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration App K Pavinthran’s guilty plea, disciplinary record and mitigating factors. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months, effective from Monday, 13th February 2023 and to expire on Wednesday, 12th April 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (3.45pm).

RACE 6 (R154) CLASS 5 (A)– 1200m (sc) ENGLISH LOP HANDICAP
REY ELVIS, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
As there was no suitable rider available, the Panel of Stewards permitted App R Ruwaidy to replace Jockey KC Tham as the rider of PURPLE RAIN.
The Panel of Stewards permitted App S Sia to replace Jockey J Low as the rider of LUKE MAN when the latter was certified unwell.
As there is no suitable rider available, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of COLOUR PAINT at 3.35pm when Jockey HS Gill was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.
LUKE MAN (App S Sia) jumped awkwardly.
PURPLE RAIN (App R Ruwaidy) was slow into stride.
A post-race veterinary examination of ALESSIA BEAUTY (S Ruzaini) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 7 (R155) CLASS 5 (B)– 1200m (sc) FLEMISH GIANT HANDICAP
YOU ARE GENIUS and QUEEN FORCE, both are course scratching as YOU ARE GENIUS had sustained bruised off fore fetlock while QUEEN FORCE had sustained bruised off fore fetlock. Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
As there is no suitable rider available, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SHARP DRESSED MAN at 3.35pm, when Jockey HS Gill became unwell.
Heavy rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.
All riders returned an average 2.5kgs over.
Due to the inclement weather and the underfoot conditions today, the Panel of Stewards decided to abandon Race 8 and 9.

QIJI DIAMOND and D’GREAT BOSS both are course scratching, as QIJI DIAMOND had sustained sore back while D’GREAT BOSS had sustained cellulitis on both hind. Each will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

RACE 4 (R103), CLASS 5 (A) -1400m (sc)
The Panel of Stewards concluded the inquiry today, Sunday (12/2/2023) into the statements made by Trainer EV Breukelen and Assistant Trainer Khor Peng Hwa during the inquiry. After investigation, the Panel of Stewards decided to take no further action. However Trainer EV Breukelen’s attention was drawn to MRA Rule 35(5). He was further warned that in future, when he is on course, he should personally give the instructions to his jockey, failing which he may faced disciplinary action.
