RACE 1 (R050) CLASS 5 – 1600m(lc) – LOST HORIZON – 1963 HANDICAP
I’M A GENIUS, a course scratching as it had sustained a cut to its near hind fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
FRANCES (J De Souza) was slow to begin.
POLO TYCOON (M Ganeesh) jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.
SUPERB SEVEN (S Sandana) dipped at the 1500M.
POLO TYCOON raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.
Jockey S Sandana, the rider of SUPERB SEVEN reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SUPERB SEVEN revealed no obvious abnormality.
Jockeys M Ganeesh, HS Gill and Y Aify, the riders of POLO TYCOON, SUCCESSION and PURE RABID respectively, reported that their mounts could not handle the going.
Post-race veterinary examinations of COLONEL LINCOLN (App KC Wong), DUE HOME (SU Lim), FRANCES and PURE RABID (Y Aify) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DUE HOME returned having cast its near hind plate.

RACE 2 (R051) ENRICH STAKES A – 1200m(lc) – JRA GOODWILL TROPHY
[SET-WEIGHTS]
MR NEVERMIND, YOU ARE GENIUS and STAR CHOICE, all course scratchings as they had sustained a bruised off fore cannon, bruised off fore sole and a bruised right knee respectively and will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Trainer R Lines was fined RM150/- under Clause 3.6 of the Perak Turf Club Official Programme for scratching D’GREAT EMINENCE without a veterinary certificate.
CRAZY CLUB (Lou Ho) was slow to begin.
TIDAL WAVE (Y Aify) shifted in on jumping away and bumped BALOTELLI (J Chuah) onto INTENTION (App KC Wong), which lost its position. INTENTION continued to race ungenerously for some distance and again had to be steadied at the 800M.
App J Daniel and App KC Tham, the riders of BRAVE MALALA and INTENTION respectively, both reported that their mounts were not striding out freely.
A post-race veterinary examination of INTENTION revealed that the gelding returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BRAVE MALALA (App J Daniel), TILSWORTH FREDDIE (TM Wan), BACH’S AIR (S Salee) and CELERITAS (F Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.

OUR GENIUS, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised right knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
LUCK SUCCESS (App J Daniel) was examined behind the barrier by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.
NATURE IS NATURE (F Yap) and DAVINCI (HS Gill) were both slow into stride.
NATURE IS NATURE showed no early speed, despite being urged.
DAVINCI raced wide from the 700M until entering the straight.
Jockey HS Gill, the rider of DAVINCI reported that his mount could not handle the going.
Post-race veterinary examinations of LUCK SUCCESS, ALASAMO (S Anandan) NATURE IS NATURE and HIGHLAND FALCON (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 4 (R053) MALAYSIA GROUP 1 – 2400m(lc) – PERAK DERBY
[SET-WEIGHTS]
LITTLEBITOFJOY which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
Trainer S Dunderdale was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5(a) for failing to declare the use of blinkers on FORTUNIQUE within the stipulated time.
Acting on the Veterinary Surgeon’s advice that the Farrier was unable to re-shod the off fore plate on STAR QUALITY (App J Daniel), the Panel of Stewards ordered that the near fore plate be removed and permitted the gelding to race without both fore plates.
FORTUNIQUE (M Ganeesh) which stood when the gates were released and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.
JUSTICE WORLD (L Sofhan) was slow into stride.
EN LAUDER (App KC Wong) jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start, EN LAUDER shifted away from the heels of ASTRO FAME (S Anandan) and bumped STAR QUALITY out onto VALUE OF JUSTICE (Y Aify).
Post-race veterinary examinations of STAR QUALITY, JUSTICE WORLD, REMEMBER ME (App AK Lim), EN LAUDER, ILUMINADO (M Yusri) and FORTUNIQUE revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 5 (R054) CLASS 5 – 1100m (str) – FROGGIE – 1961 HANDICAP
EXPLOSIVE FORCE, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near fore sole, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
SGFIFTY which was down 25kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
CLASSIC KING (S Sandana) jumped away awkwardly inwards and bumped BOLD PASSION (App J Daniel) onto KING SAVINSKY (S Salee) which in turn, bumped SIR RALLY (S Anandan). As a consequence, KING SAVINSKY lost its position.
Passing the 700M, HEAVENLY GIFT (Z Khairil) was carried inwards when ASTRO MAN (TM Wan) rolled in. ASTRO MAN continued to lay in onto HEAVENLY GIFT until about the 300M, resulting in HEAVENLY GIFT being hampered and was unable to be ridden out.
Jockey SU Lim, the rider of DARK EXPRESS reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of DARK EXPRESS revealed that the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of MARCO POLO (App AK Lim), BAZINGA (App S Rosmizan) and RANGITAIKI (HK Cheng) revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 6 (R055) CLASS 5 – 1200m (sc) – NORVAL LAD – 1962 HANDICAP
GOOD TASTE, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
MIROTIC, a course scratching as it was lame off fore, will be required to pass a 1000M/vet exam before being declared to race again.
JUST NAME IT was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards at 2.17pm, as the gelding’s vaccination status for Japanese B Encephalitis was not current. Trainer Evert Van Breukelen was fined RM1,000/- in terms of MRA Regulation 20.3.2 as read with MRA Regulation 20.6.
GET THE LOTSKI (App KC Wong) and EMPIRE BAY (App KC Tham) bumped on jumping away, resulting in GET THE LOTSKI being slow into stride.
V RESPECT U (HS Gill) jumped away awkwardly.
From the 1100M, SUPER RED (Z Khairil) commenced to hang out, resulting in DIRAC (Lou Ho) having to be steadied.
Post-race veterinary examinations of EMPIRE BAY and BARKER ROAD KID (HK Cheng) revealed no obvious abnormality and V RESPECT U returned lame off fore. V RESPECT U will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

JOHNNY’S CAFE, a course scratching as it had sustained a swollen tongue, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Trainer B Ng was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5(a) for failing to declare the use of blinkers on LIKE A JET within the stipulated time.
KAISER (Lou Ho) jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HUN YEANG VILLAGE (App KC Wong) which shifted out.
SCRAT (TM Wan) jumped away awkwardly and was hampered when YENDOR (F Yap) shifted out and KUTTNER (App AK Lim) shifted in. SCRAT dipped on several occasions shortly after the incident.
SCRAT raced wide from the 800M until entering the straight.
App KC Tham, the rider of FIELD FORCE reported that his mount could not handle the going.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ALAN (SU Lim), KUTTNER and FIELD FORCE (App KC Tham) revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Panel of Stewards opened an Inquiry into the riding and handling of BABY POLO, ridden by Jockey M Ganeesh and trained by Trainer B Ng. After taking initial evidence from Trainer B Ng and Jockey M Ganeesh, the Panel of Stewards adjourned the Inquiry to a date to be fixed.

ROYAL EASTER, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised right knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
HERE COMES THUNDER (HK Cheng) reared when the gates were released.
WINNING EXPRESS (S Anandan) was slow to begin.
SILVER WIND (CK Tan) reared, jumped away awkwardly and lost ground when the gates were released and then continued to race ungenerously until approaching the 800M, shifted out and had to be checked across the heels of BEAUTIFUL BABY (App KC Wong).
MISTER MIYAGI (S Sandana) dipped at the 800M.
Post-race veterinary examinations of SILVER WIND, BEAUTIFUL BABY and WINNING EXPRESS revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Panel of Stewards advised Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of HERE COMES THUNDER that an Inquiry into his riding and handling of HERE COMES THUNDER will be held at a date to be fixed.

GENERAL REPORT
RACE 9 (R020) CLASS 4 – 1000M(sc) STARTING ANEW HANDICAP
1st DAY, SATURDAY, 6th JANUARY 2018 – PERAK JANUARY (DERBY) MEETING 2018
The Panel of Stewards investigated the circumstances surrounding MISTER MIYAGI (S Sandana) being declared a non-starter in the above race. The Starter confirmed that after being placed in the barrier, MISTER MIYAGI lean backwards and forced the rear gates to open, resulting in MISTER MIYAGI to back out from his stall as the start was effected. The Starter further stated that in future, Barrier Handlers would be in place to view the rear of the gates in an effort to avoid similar circumstances.
