When questioned regarding the improved performance of BM POWER (HK Cheng), Trainer B Ng was unable to give any tangible explanation other than the better barrier draw today as compared to her last start on 23 December 2017. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 117(3) regarding in and out running.
Jockey HK Cheng stated that BM POWER had drawn Barrier 11 in her last start and the mare jumped away awkwardly, and he had ridden forward to try and get a good position but was caught wide until racing to the 600M when he commenced to ride the mare with the whip, it failed to respond to his riding and was very disappointing. He further stated that today from Barrier 4, BM POWER was able to lead comfortably as its normal racing pattern and the mare finished the race well.
