Jockey CK Khaw (INFINITY GLORY) weighed in ½ kg underweight, was cautioned regarding this incident and reminded to take extra care in future.

Withdrawn at 2:11pm: Irregular pre-race sample. Impounded. Samples were collected for analytical and veterinary examination. A raid on Trainer HY Cheng’ stable was immediately conducted. An inquiry will be opened into this matter at a date to be fixed.

Hung inwards and shifted in away from the whip in the straight. An inquiry will be opened into the running and handling of the gelding.

Slow to begin.

Jockey B Pinheiro (CHEVAL BLANC) weighed in ½ kg underweight, was cautioned regarding this incident and reminded to take extra care in future.

RACE 5 (R0928) SPECIAL MAIDEN – 1200M (SC A4)

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of DUMA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to LIGHTNING GAL between the 600M and the 400M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 23 September 2024 and to expire on 29 September 2024, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM5000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 7 (R0930) SPECIAL MAIDEN – 1200M (SC A4)

1	MAKE YOU HAPPY (App Clyde Leck)	Jumped out sharply. Apprentice was advised to ride his horse out to the end of the race so as to leave no room for query.
2	SUNNY DAY (App A Nazir)	Carried out at the 1000M.
3	BOLD RUNNER (S Ruzaini)	Switched out to continue its run leaving the 300M.
4	BULL FIGHT (KC Low)	Eased sharply at the start and stumbled severely.

6	ROCKY PEGASUS (AK Lim)	Squeezed out at the start. Raced greenly throughout. Shifted out at the 1000M. Shifted inwards from the whip when hanging inwards in the straight and at the 300M.
7	STRONG WHITE (S Uzair)	Raced wide in the early stages. Momentarily inconvenienced at the 300M. Hung outwards in the concluding stages. Eased on 2 occasions between the 1100M and the 1000M. *(See Report)
8	TOUCH N GO (SU Lim)	Raced wide throughout. Returned cast near hind plate.

Trainer Ooi Chin Chin was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for presenting STRONG WHITE (S Uzair) with Winkers which was not declared.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App Z Syafifie, the rider of ROCKY BHAI, in the presence of his Employing Trainer’s representative, Trainer NM Selvan who is also the Trainer of the horse, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to STRONG WHITE on 2 occasions between the 1100M and the 1000M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App Z Syafifie’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be served consecutively with any other penalty, with effect from 13 October 2024 and to expire on 19 October 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App Clyde Leck, the rider of ITALIAN REVOLUTION, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PACIFIC EMPIRE (App PH Seow), DABBLE (AK Lim) which were tightened for galloping room at the 800M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App Clyde Leck’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 23 September 2024 and to expire on 29 September 2024, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM1000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 8 (R0904) CLASS 4B – 1020M (Track II), SUNDAY, 15 SEPTEMBER 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 22 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of DOCTOR GINGER and took evidence from Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of DOCTOR GINGER.

Leaving the 800M, PERFECT MISSION (HK Cheng) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of STRETCHY FOUR (App H Haikal) which was inconvenienced by YOU THINK SO (App A Nazir) which was tightened for galloping room when DOCTOR GINGER took an awkward stride and shifted out.

After considering the evidence, the Stewards deemed this to be a racing incident and therefore decided to take no further action.

RACE 9 (R0923) CLASS 5B – 1300M (SC A4), SATURDAY, 21 SEPTEMBER 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2024

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App Z Syafifie, the rider of MGR ROCKET, in the presence of his Employing Trainer’s representative, Trainer F Maynard, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to AUSSIE EAGLE and D’GREAT OCEAN approaching the 1000M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App Z Syafifie’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, to be deferred, with effect from 30 September 2024 and to expire on 12 October 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 3 (R0868) CLASS 4B – 1100M (SC A), SUNDAY, 8 SEPTEMBER 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 22 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of FIRST BOWL and took evidence from Jockey S Uzair, the rider of the FIRST BOWL.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, Jockey S Uzair was cautioned to take more care when shifting ground in races.

RACE 11 (R0876) CLASS 5B – 1300M (LC A), SUNDAY, 8 SEPTEMBER 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 22 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of PACIFIC SOLDIER and took evidence from Jockey L De Souza, the rider of the PACIFIC SOLDIER.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, highlighted the inconsistency of his riding and advised him that should he appear before the Board regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.

RACE 8 (R0873) CLASS 4B – 1400M (LC A), SUNDAY, 8 SEPTEMBER 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 22 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of PACIFIC HUNTER and took evidence from Jockey KC Tham, the rider of the PACIFIC HUNTER.

The Stewards, on Thursday, 19 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of BORN TO WIN and took evidence from App M Lukman, the rider of BORN TO WIN, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, WC Lim who is also the Trainer of BORN TO WIN.

App M Lukman, the rider of BORN TO WIN, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that in Race 8 at the Selangor Turf Club on 15 September 2024, he failed to ride BORN TO WIN to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that:

1. From the jump, he failed to afford BORN TO WIN sufficient rein to allow the horse the best possible chance to jump well;

2. Between the 900M and the 800M, despite BORN TO WIN showing that it had a speed advantage over the other runners in this sprint race, he restrained this gelding, breaking its natural momentum and resulting in it throwing its head up;

3. Between the 700M and the 500M, despite BORN TO WIN easily obtaining the lead and going clear of the field, he failed to ensure or at the very least, make a significant attempt to position his mount strategically near the rail so as to not cover unnecessary ground and position itself in front of its other dangers; and

4. In the straight, his riding was passive, non-vigourous and lacking in intent and determination. In this regard, his riding specifically between the 350M and the 300M, causes BORN TO WIN to shift out and lose momentum and his riding for the remainder of the straight barring the last 2 strides, was passive, non-vigourous and lacking in intent and determination, in that, he offered minimal assistance to BORN TO WIN with his hands, his body was upright in the irons, his weight was back whilst riding and his whip use was lacking in rhythm and vigour,

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App M Lukman’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of twelve (12) months with immediate effect from 19 September 2024 and to expire on 18 September 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In addition, Trainer WC Lim was fined RM3000/- under MRA Rule 35(5) in that he failed to give adequate instructions to App M Lukman.

INQUIRY INTO A REPORT RELATING TO A NON-RACE DAY BLOOD SAMPLE CODED “23036” TAKEN FROM THE HORSE “SIAM WARRIOR” WHICH WAS TAKEN ON TUESDAY, 30 JULY 2024

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matter on Thursday, 19 September 2024 at the Selangor Turf Club, and evidence was taken from Trainer S Dunderdale, the Trainer of SIAM WARRIOR.

Trainer S Dunderdale pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 135(6) as read with MRA Rules 135(4) & (11) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for SIAM WARRIOR which participated in the SLTC Official Barrier Trial on Tuesday, 30 July 2024 and subsequently, its post-trial blood sample was found to contain “Furosemide”, a prohibited substance under MRA Rules.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the type of substance, the nature of the substance involved, Trainer S Dunderdale’s guilty plea, his mitigating factors and previous record. He was fined RM3,000/- and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 10 (R0875) CLASS 5A – 1600M (LC A), SUNDAY, 8 SEPTEMBER 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2024

Jockey KC Tham (TIN’S MACHINE) was granted a deferment by the SLTC Racing Stewards to ride at SLTC Race Meeting on 21 and 22 September 2024 and thus, his suspension from riding in races for a period of one (1) month was amended, to commence from 23 September 2024 and to expire on 22 October 2024, both dates inclusive.

REPORT OF ANALYSIS ON CLEARING SAMPLE

A Clearing Sample taken from DRAGON WHISPERER, which was received on 24 August 2024 by the USAINS BIOMICS Laboratory (report dated 29 August 2024), was analyzed and reported to be negative to Prohibited Substances and as such, the Stewards cleared DRAGON WHISPERER to resume racing under the provisions of MRA Rule 134 (12).

REPORT OF ANALYSIS ON CLEARING SAMPLE

A Clearing Sample taken from HENG XING and THUNDER, which were both received on 1 September 2024 by the USAINS BIOMICS Laboratory (report dated 5 September 2024), were analyzed and reported to be negative to Prohibited Substances and as such, the Stewards cleared both HENG XING and THUNDER to resume racing under the provisions of MRA Rule 134(12).

RACE 10 (845) : CLASS 5A – 1800M [LC-A4] THE EXCHANGE 106 @ TRX STAKES, SUNDAY, 1 SEPTEMBER 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Monday, 9 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of READY TO SEVENLUCK and took evidence from Jockey WW Cheah and Trainer R Lines, the rider and trainer of READY TO SEVENLUCK respectively.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards found Jockey WW Cheah guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii) for Incompetent Riding. The particulars of the charge being that in Race 10 on Sunday, 1 September 2024, his riding on READY TO SEVENLUCK, is a deviation of the standard of riding expertise and judgement that is expected of a reasonably competent rider in that the manner of his restraint of READY TO SEVENLUCK between the 1000M and entering the straight is so severe that it resulted in this horse not being afforded the opportunity to capitalize on its early gains and in fact, negatively impacted the performance of this horse in the middle and at the end of the race.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey WW Cheah’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) weeks, to be deferred, with effect from 16 September 2024 and to expire on 27 September 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In addition, Trainer R Lines was fined RM1000/- for misconduct under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he conducted himself in an inappropriate manner on at least 3 occasions during the course of this inquiry.

The Stewards, on Thursday, 12 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of TRAFALGAR and took evidence from App S Shazmin, the rider of the TRAFALGAR, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer EP Tan.

The Stewards, on Thursday, 12 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of TIN’S MACHINE and took evidence from Jockey KC Tham and Trainer WC Lim, the rider and trainer of TIN’S MACHINE respectively.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards found Jockey KC Tham guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(iii) for Incompetent Riding. The particulars of the charge being that in Race 10 on Sunday, 8 September 2024, his riding on TIN’S MACHINE was a deviation of the standard of expertise and judgement required of a reasonably competent rider in that:

The method he adopted to ride his mount was lacking in urgency, vigour and rhythm which resulted in TIN’S MACHINE losing position between the 500M and the 350M; and
His whip use in the straight was weak and lacking in vigour and rhythm; and
His decision to remove his face mask was unjustified under the circumstances and resulted in TIN’S MACHINE being prejudiced.

INQUIRY INTO A REPORT RELATING TO A PRE-RACE BLOOD SAMPLE CODED “255197” TAKEN FROM THE HORSE “HENG XING” AND A PRE-RACE BLOOD SAMPLE CODED “255251” TAKEN FROM THE HORSE “THUNDER” WHICH WERE WITHDRAWN FROM RACE 3 AND RACE 6 RESPECTIVELY, ON SUNDAY, 24 AUGUST 2024 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2024

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matters on Thursday, 12 September 2024 at the Selangor Turf Club, and evidence was taken from Trainer L Moy, the Trainer of HENG XING and THUNDER.

Trainer L Moy pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(14) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for HENG XING when he administered an alkalinizing agent, bicarbonate soda on the morning of the race day to be run at the SLTC Meeting on 24 August 2024, and HENG XING failed a pre-race test after a sample taken from this horse on 24 August 2024 prior to the running of Race 3 run at SLTC disclosed upon analysis, the presence of TCO2 above the threshold of 36 mmol per liter of plasma, with the level detected being 36.9 mmol per liter of plasma.

Trainer L Moy pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(14) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for THUNDER when he administered an alkalinizing agent, bicarbonate soda on the morning of the race day to be run at the SLTC Meeting on 24 August 2024, and THUNDER failed a pre-race test after a sample taken from this horse on 24 August 2024 prior to the running of Race 6 run at SLTC disclosed upon analysis, the presence of TCO2 above the threshold of 36 mmol per liter of plasma, with the level detected being 37.8 mmol per liter of plasma.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the type of drug, the nature of the drug involved, Trainer L Moy’s guilty plea on both charges, his mitigating factors and previous record. Trainer L Moy was fined RM30,000/- for each charge (total of RM60,000/-) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Trainer L Moy subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal against the severity of the sentence. The appeal hearing will be held at a date to be fixed.

RACE 3 (R0629) CLASS 4B – 1100M (SC A4), SUNDAY, 30 JUNE 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 15 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of OUR FINAL OFFER and took evidence from App R Nuqman, the rider of OUR FINAL OFFER, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, BT Lim. The Stewards also took consideration of the evidence tendered in previous inquiries on 24 August 2024 and 8 September 2024.

After considering the expert evidence which was produced by App R Nuqman, the Panel decided not to charge App R Nuqman. However, App R Nuqman was advised that he will be restricted from riding in races until such time that he provides sufficient evidence to the Stewards through his riding in trackwork and in trials, that he could reasonably compete under the rigors of race riding.

Jockey S Ruzaini (JUNGLE KING) appeared before the Panel of Stewards and was questioned regarding his decision to restrain his mount, which has a history of racing prominently, into the slow early pace of this race. In this regard, he explained that his mount was constantly pressured by INFINITY GLORY (T Krisna) which was not running a true racing line on the rail. He explained that this had resulted in JUNGLE KING showing an inclination to lean out and become unbalanced. He further explained that with the pressure that he was experiencing to maintain his horse’s position, he also did not want to risk getting into a speed duel with ITALIAN REVOLUTION (App Clyde Leck) which in his opinion, would have only compounded the difficulties which he was experiencing in the running. The Panel noted the explanation of Jockey S Ruzaini.

In the straight, GOLDEN PEGASUS and ANTIPODEAN came together and bumped on at least 4 occasions.

A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of the second placed horse, GOLDEN PEGASUS, against the winner, ANTIPODEAN (B Pinheiro) on the grounds of interference in the straight.

After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered that at the points of contact between the runners, GOLDEN PEGASUS was in fact the primary aggressor and that ANTIPODEAN was headed by GOLDEN PEGASUS leaving the 250M, however, despite the constant outward pressure from GOLDEN PEGASUS in the straight, this gelding still fought back to win.

Consequently, the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, GOLDEN PEGASUS would have finished ahead of ANTIPODEAN, therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge’s result to stand.

RACE 10 (R0875) CLASS 5A – 1600M (LC A)

This race was rescheduled to start at 5:35pm.

The Stewards, on Sunday, 8 September 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of ZILFIKAR and took evidence from Jockey SU Lim, the rider of the ZILFIKAR.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, reminded of his obligations that when setting a pace, it is appropriate under the circumstances.

INQUIRY INTO A REPORT RELATING TO A POST-RACE URINE SAMPLE CODED “36250” TAKEN FROM THE HORSE “DRAGON WHISPERER” WHICH RACED IN RACE 9 ON SUNDAY, 4 AUGUST 2024 AT THE SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2024, AND WAS FOUND TO CONTAIN “FLUNIXIN”

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matter on Wednesday, 4 September 2024 at the Selangor Turf Club, and evidence was taken from Trainer HY Cheng, the Trainer of DRAGON WHISPERER.

Trainer HY Cheng pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for racing the horse DRAGON WHISPERER which finished second in Race 9 on Sunday, 4 August 2024 at the Selangor Turf Club, and its post-race urine sample was found positive to “Flunixin”.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the type of drug, the nature of the drug involved, Trainer HY Cheng’s guilty plea, his mitigating factors and previous record. Trainer HY Cheng was fined RM6,000/- and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), DRAGON WHISPERER was disqualified from the race and the results will be amended accordingly.

After the running of this race an objection was lodged by the 3^rd placed horse HUNTER PEGASUS (S Ruzaini) against the 1^st placed horse HARVEYWALLBANGER (App S Shazmin) and the 2^nd placed horse LIM’S SINAI (S UZAIR) on the grounds of interference in the straight. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Objection Panel overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Panel took into consideration the finishing distanced between the runners at the finish and that, from the side on angle in particular, it could not be definitively established that but for the incident in question, HUNTER PEGASUS would have finished ahead of HARVEYWALLBANGER and LIM’S SINAI. Accordingly, the objection was overruled and the judge’s result was allowed to stand.

After considering the evidence in this matter, the Panel imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 2 race days. Jockey L De Souza waived his right of appeal and requested a deferment which was granted by the Panel. Suspension dates: 9 September 2024 – 15 September 2024 both days included.

Jockey S Ruzaini was fined RM1000/- under MRA Rule 41(7) in that he rode MATILDA which was equipped with a defective gear in the above race.

RACE 9 (R0773) CLASS 4A – 1500M (LC A), SUNDAY, 11 AUGUST 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Saturday, 24 August at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of PACIFIC WINDSOR in the above race and took evidence from Jockey KC Tham, the rider of PACIFIC WINDSOR.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, highlighted the inconsistency of Jockey KC Tham’s riding and advised him that should he appear before the Board regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.

A subsequent report from the Veterinary Department revealed that WISEMAN was found to be exhibiting signs of respiratory distress, as such the gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test (1 month embargo) before being declared to race again.

SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2024

A report dated 9 August 2024 (V24/125) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 33 coded urine and 33 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 4 August 2024, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded “36250” which revealed the presence of “Flunixin”. After decoding the sample number, it was established that this sample was reported to have been taken from the horse “DRAGON WHISPERER”, which finished second in Race 9 on Sunday, 4 August 2024 at the Selangor Turf Club August Meeting 2024.

On 14 August 2024, Trainer HY Cheng was advised of the contents of this report and his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 134(12) which prohibits this horse from racing until it is cleared by the Stewards, and MRA Rule 137(1)/MRA Regulation 46.1 & 46.2 relating to the referee sample. An Inquiry related to this matter will be conducted at a date to be fixed.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey AK Lim, the rider of TERMS OF REFERENCE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding TERMS OF REFERENCE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to FIRST BOWL at the 1000M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AK Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 12 August 2024 and to expire on 17 August 2024, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM1,500/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey S Zulfikri, the rider of DARCY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) whilst riding DARCY he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BE YOURSELF at the 250M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Zulfikri’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Selangor Turf Club race days with effect from 12 August 2024 and to expire on 1 September 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

The Stewards, on Saturday, 10 August 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of BORN TO WIN and took evidence from Jockey SU Lim and Trainer WC Lim, the rider and Trainer of BORN TO WIN respectively.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, highlighted the inconsistency of Jockey SU Lim’s riding and advised him that should he appear before the Board regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.

RACE 9 (R0745) CLASS 5A – 1400M (LC E), SUNDAY, 4 AUGUST 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB AUGUST MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Saturday, 10 August 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of THUNDERGOD and took evidence from Jockey S Zulfikri and Trainer S Hamilton, the rider and Trainer of THUNDERGOD respectively.

The Stewards reviewed the films of the incident and considered the evidence tendered. Jockey S Zulfikri, the rider of THUNDERGOD, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride THUNDERGOD to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that his riding was lacking in vigour in the straight, specifically with regard to his whip action and whip use, which was prejudicial and offered minimal assistance to his mount.

The Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Zulfikri’s guilty plea, riding record, mitigating factors and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months with effect from 2 September 2024 and to expire on 1 November 2024, to be served consecutively with any other penalty, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 8 (R0684) CLASS 5A – 1600M (LC A), SATURDAY, 13 JULY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JULY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Saturday, 10 March 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of MOMENT OF JUSTICE and took evidence from Jockey S Zulfikri, the rider of the MOMENT OF JUSTICE.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action.

Jockey S Uzair was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to arrive on course within the prescribed time. He was also fined RM500/- for misconduct under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for smoking in the Jockeys’ room.

The Stewards, on Sunday, 4 August 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of OLYMPIA and took evidence from Jockey J Daniel, the rider of the OLYMPIA.

Jockey J Daniel, the rider of OLYMPIA, was found guilty of a charge of reckless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(i) in that in Race 7 on Sunday, 21 July 2024 at the Selangor Turf Club, he rode OLYMPIA in a reckless manner in that approaching the 1000M mark, he recklessly made a maneuver with his arm, outside the scope of normal riding, which resulted in him making contact with and unbalancing App T Ammar (COUNTOFMONTECRISTO).

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Daniel’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month, to be deferred, with effect from 12 August 2024 and to expire on 11 September 2024, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 9 (R0712) CLASS 4A – 1400M (LC A), SUNDAY, 21 JULY 2024, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JULY MEETING 2024

The Stewards, on Sunday, 4 August at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of EXIT STRATEGY in the above race and took evidence from Jockey CK Khaw, the rider of EXIT STRATEGY.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, highlighted the inconsistency of Jockey C Khaw’s riding and advised him that should he appear before the Board regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day, to be deferred, with effect from 29 July 2024 and to expire on 4 August 2024, both dates inclusive. In lieu of two (2) Malaysian race day(s), he was also fined RM4,000/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey AL Da Silva, the rider of ANOTHER SHOW, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding ANOTHER SHOW, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PURE PERFECTION (SU Lim) at the 900M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey AL Da Silva’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 22 July 2024 and to expire on 4 August 2024, both dates inclusive. The Stewards reviewed the start pertaining to LINDA KHAN drawn in stall gate number 10. In this regard, it was established that prior to the start being effected, LINDA KHAN was restless in the gates and as the start was effected, the filly had bumped the front gate which resulted in it opening marginally earlier than the other stalls. The Stewards were of the view that this horse was afforded the opportunity of a fair start by the Starter, did not gain any advantage from its gate opening slightly earlier, and had jumped awkwardly in its own accord. Therefore, LINDA KHAN was deemed to be a runner in this race.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey WW Cheah’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) Malaysian race day with effect from 22 July 2024 and to expire on 28 July 2024, both dates inclusive. In lieu of one (1) Malaysian race day, he was also fined RM2,000/–. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey S Ruzaini (HAPPY PRINCESS) appeared before the Panel of Stewards, and was afforded an opportunity to place on record any factors which in his opinion, had contributed to HAPPY PRINCESS performing below market expectations (RM6/- favourite). In this regard, he explained that his instructions were to go forward from the jump and take cover in second or midfield. He explained that after jumping fairly, obtaining cover and travelling well through the middle stages of the race, when entering the straight, he switched his mount out for a clear run, however, upon asking it for its final finishing burst, this mare had nothing to come and in his opinion, was amiss in the run. In view of this report, a subsequent veterinary examination was requested on HAPPY PRINCESS which revealed no significant finding and this mare was impounded by the Stewards.

Trainer KC Tiang (HAPPY PRINCESS) appeared before the Panel of Stewards and confirmed the statements given by Jockey S Ruzaini in relation to him. He further explained that he was satisfied with the ride of Jockey S Ruzaini but disappointed with the mare’s run and would await the findings of the veterinary surgeon.

The Stewards, on Sunday, 21 July 2024 at SLTC, concluded an inquiry into the riding of COLONEL CHIEF and took evidence from Jockey Z Khairil, the rider of COLONEL CHIEF.

After reviewing the films of the incident and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards decided to take no further action, however, highlighted the inconsistency of Jockey Z Khairil’s riding and advised him that should he appear before the Board regarding a similar occurrence in future, more severe sanctions may follow.
