IMMORTALITY (C Goon) was slow to begin. When questioned, Jockey C Goon advised that the mare had showed no pace and he had pushed it hard from the start. He was also of the opinion that IMMORTALITY is best suited when making a late run and afforded clear space.

In the middle stages, WINTERFELL (App L De Souza) was ridden wide.

At the 600M, WINTERFELL and D’GREAT EMPRESS (R Shafiq) bumped heavily on several occasions. App L De Souza, the rider of WINTERFELL, was warned that he must afford runners on his inside sufficient galloping room.

DROUGHT (App AR Aiman) was impeded for a clear run passing the 275M.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of BLACK IS POWER, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of BLACK IS POWER revealed no significant finding.

 RACE 3 (R233)         CLASS 5 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE)

RAMZES (J Daniel) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers at the request of the rider and was passed fit to race.

LIGHTNING HERO (App K Pavinthran) and RAMZES were slow into stride.

GOOD VIBRATIONS (App L De Souza) raced wide in the middle stages.

M SEVEN (App M Lukman) had to be steadied and then taken outwards to avoid the heels of the tiring GOOD VIBRATIONS between the 550M and 450M.

A post-race veterinary examination of PARISBAS (App R Nuqman) revealed that it bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

RACE 4 (R234)         CLASS 4 (A) – 1700M (LONG COURSE)

After declarations, Trainer C Leck was questioned as to the reasons he removed the Blinkers from WILLIAM KING (HS Gill) after the gelding won in its last start. He advised that he had been informed by Jockey HS Gill that although winning, WILLIAM KING had raced too fiercely over the 1600M and he was concerned that the gelding would again race in this manner with Blinkers over the longer course of 1700M. After considering this, the Stewards permitted WILLIAM KING to race without Blinkers but with additional Pacifiers, and confirmed that WILLIAM KING would be ridden close to the pace.

WILLIAM KING was inclined to lay inwards passing the 200M and was then carried outwards when SORBETA (App L De Souza) shifted ground over the final 150M. Jockey HS Gill advised that after leaning inwards, WILLIAM KING had shied away from the horse on its inside.

Jockey SU Lim (MACHUNG STAR) was questioned as to the reason he had led on MACHUNG STAR by a large margin in the middle stages. He stated that he had been instructed to ride the gelding where it was comfortable and even by leading as the horse was a noted front runner but was inclined to over-race. He considered that he had rated MACHUNG STAR appropriately, especially given that it was having its initial start over the 1700M distance.

Whilst accepting this evidence in part, the Stewards were of the opinion that Jockey SU Lim had ridden an ill-judged race when leading by this margin as the horse unaccustomed to this distance and believed that he should have ridden MACHUNG STAR more diligently in the middle sections of the race.

VALUE OF JUSTICE (App M Akmazani) was squeezed at the start.

Shortly after the start, ME NO MARSH MELLOW (J Daniel) shifted out, contacting THE CROWN JEWEL (KC Wong) which in turn brushed BLOOD ROYAL (App CK Khaw).

TOOBIGTOOFAIL (HS Gill) raced wide in the middle stages.

Jockey R Rueven was questioned regarding his riding of SUNTZU in the straight. He said that SUNTZU was a one-paced horse and he had urged it at several stages before straightening and although making some ground in the straight, he had tried to balance SUNTZU as it was inclined to tire over the 1300M. The Stewards noted Jockey R Rueven’s explanation.

A post-race veterinary examination of ELITE SILENCER (App A Zaimuddin) revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

This race was run in light rain.

After jumping awkwardly, BIG DALLAS (App R Nuqman) struck the hind-quarters of ASTRA (R Rueven) and became unbalanced, losing ground.

Jockey KC Wong, when questioned, advised that he had ridden SACRED GALAXY patiently and he had found himself rearward after steadying inside MAT SMART (J Daniel) near the 1100M. He had taken SACRED GALAXY wide after straightening as he considered the gelding resented the kickback. Further, his riding of SACRED GALAXY was consistent with his style on staying horses. The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SACRED GALAXY returned having cast its near fore plate.

Jockey SU Lim, the rider of GUILTY PLEASURES, reported that after leading easily, the horse was not striding out freely in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination of GUILTY PLEASURES revealed no significant finding.

SHOQEET was inclined to lay inwards in the straight causing him to stop and straighten on several occasions. Jockey O Chavez (SHOQEET) reported that his horse had shifted ground in the run to the first corner and in his opinion, was striding short. A post-race veterinary examination of SHOQEET revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

The Stewards advised to moderate the use of the whip to App M Lukman (SUPERSTARDOM) and App M Akmazani (SACRED SURFER) and referred them for further specific training.

STIPENDIARY STEWARDS’ REPORT

SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2020

SATURDAY, 8 FEBRUARY 2020

 STATE OF TRACK: Good

(Rail at 4M Short Course)

Panel of Stipendiary Stewards:

Mr Fin Powrie (Chief Stipendiary Steward), Mr Thanaraja Kasinathan (Stipendiary Steward), Mr Nigel Chong (Stipendiary Steward) & Mr Jarry Chong (Stipendiary Steward).

Veterinary Surgeons:

Dr Shri Kanth (Chief Veterinary Surgeon) & Dr James Yu.

RACE 1 (R181)         CLASS 5 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE)

SUPER EIGHT (App L De Souza) was slow into stride.

Near the 800M, SATELLITE GOLDEN (HS Gill) threw its head up when racing fiercely.

At the 250M, DANE’S ANATOMY (R Rueven) had to be steadied outwards when AIR POWER (App CK Khaw) drifted slightly.

EAGLE SOAR (J De Souza) had to be taken out across the heels of BELIEVE IT OR NOT (SU Lim) to obtain clear running near the 100M.

When questioned, Jockey R Shafiq stated that EMPEROR WARRIOR was sitting back at the start and was slow to begin. Subsequently, he had been further back than anticipated but had tried to improve as he believed the pace to be only moderate. EMPEROR WARRIOR had then commenced to race fiercely, but on straightening the gelding had compounded badly.

Trainer WC Lim advised that EMPEROR WARRIOR was a nervous horse and its racing performance may have been affected by its barrier manners. He stated that EMPEROR WARRIOR had raced consistently for some time and it was now his intention to send the gelding for a spell.

App A Zaimuddin, the rider of ELEGENT, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of ELEGENT revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

WILL BE BETTER (App M Lukman) raced wide throughout.

BUKIT SUBANG (R Shafiq) was inclined to lay inwards and near the 275M, steadied behind DAYFLIRT (S Salee) and had to be taken outwards across the heels of WILL BE BETTER when that gelding shifted in.

Jockeys R Shafiq and HS Gill, the rider of BUKIT SUBANG and NOVA EAGLE respectively, reported that their horses were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of BUKIT SUBANG and NOVA EAGLE revealed that the geldings returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will each be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

 RACE 3 (R183)         CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE)

Acting on veterinary advice that CLASSIC KING (R Rueven) was lame off hind, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 1:30pm. CLASSIC KING will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

HAPPY GHOST (App A Zaimuddin) which was standing very awkwardly, missed the start and was ridden rearward. The Stewards addressed this issue with the Club Starter.

D’GREAT SONG (R Shafiq) travelled wide in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination of D’GREAT SONG revealed no significant finding.

Passing the 250M, SILVER POWER (App M Lukman) was inclined to drift out over the final 100M, carrying JUST DUIT (App CK Khaw) outwards. App M Lukman was reprimanded for failing to straighten his mount.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey HK Cheng, the rider of READY TO RULE, pleaded guilty to a charge of improper riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(ii) in that:

  1. He applied undue pressure to SCORPION KING (SU Lim) near the 850M and continued to pressurize that gelding, bumping with it heavily near the 800M.
  2. Passing the 650M, when on the inside of SCORPION KING, he crossed in quickly when insufficiently clear causing that gelding to check severely and blundered.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey HK Cheng’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of eight (8) Malaysian race days with effect from 17 February 2020 and to expire on 15 March 2020, both dates inclusive. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:30pm).

TOM YAM (C Goon) threw its head and refused to gallop in the early stages. Trainer SY Lim was advised that in light with the mare’s continued manners, TOM YAM will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again.

App M Lukman, the rider of FLASH, reported that his horse was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of FLASH revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Acting on veterinary advice that SATELLITE PRINCE (App M Lukman) was lame near hind, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 2:29pm. SATELLITE PRINCE will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

D’GREAT OPULENT (R Shafiq) was slow into stride.

On inquiry, Jockey SU Lim, the rider of METAGROSS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that running to the 850M, he shifted in, crowding LUCKY JUSTICE (J De Souza) which bumped with BEAUTIFUL ONE (J Low).

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey SU Lim’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 17 February 2020 and to expire on 23 February 2020, both dates inclusive. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:25pm).

TRINITY HONOR (App A Zaimuddin) drifted out in the straight.

METAGROSS was inclined to shift inwards over the concluding stages.

The Stewards questioned App A Suriya (UNSHADOWED GENERAL), in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer C Leck, related to the riding of UNSHADOWED GENERAL in the straight. He stated that after riding to instructions from the rearward position, he had ridden vigourously with the whip in the early part of the straight and UNSHADOWED GENERAL commenced to make ground quickly, however, he had progressed very quickly behind FLASH ONE (R Rueven) when on the outside of BEAUTIFUL ONE (J Low). At this stage, he had to steady UNSHADOWED GENERAL near the 75M as he believed he had insufficient room to go to the inside of that gelding without causing interference to BEAUTIFUL ONE.

After considering this evidence and the fact that UNSHADOWED GENERAL was making ground quickly, the Stewards considered that App A Suriya had not erred in steadying at this stage.

App AR Aiman (BRINGER OF WAR) dropped his whip at the 100M mark. After consideration of this incident, the Stewards deemed that App AR Aiman was inexperience and as such instructed that after the weekend’s racing that he fulfill a training regime related to the use of his whip.

Jockey R Shafiq reported that UNSURPASSED was not striding out freely in the final stages and he eased the gelding at the 200M. SATELLITE GENIUS (HS Gill) raced fiercely with its head in the air. Jockey HS Gill advised that he wished to secure cover but SATELLITE GENIUS had been unable to do so as the gelding raced too fiercely, also SATELLITE GENIUS was inclined to hang out from the 800M until straightening.

FIRST LIGHT was inclined to lay inwards when struck with the whip over the concluding stages.

STIPENDIARY STEWARDS’ REPORT

SELANGOR TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2020

SUNDAY, 2 FEBRUARY 2020

STATE OF TRACK: Good

(Rail at 4M Long Course)

Panel of Stipendiary Stewards:

Mr Fin Powrie (Chief Stipendiary Steward), Mr Thanaraja Kasinathan (Stipendiary Steward), Mr Nigel Chong (Stipendiary Steward) & Mr Jarry Chong (Stipendiary Steward).

Veterinary Surgeons:

Dr Shri Kanth (Chief Veterinary Surgeon) & Dr James Yu.

RACE 1 (R165) CLASS 5 (B) – 1300M (LONG COURSE)

As there was no other suitable rider available, specific permission was granted by the Racing Stewards for Jockey HK Cheng to be the replacement rider of MONTE CARLO as Jockey R Rueven was stood down by the Club Doctor.

MONTE CARLO (HK Cheng) was slow to begin. Jockey HK Cheng advised that after being slow, he was unable to secure a midfield position and had been stuck behind tiring horses until straightening.

The saddle on GOOD LUCKY (App L De Souza) shifted back shortly the after start, placing App L De Souza at some difficulty and he subsequently rode the gelding wide in the middle stages.

Shortly after the start, when struck with the whip, SONG KID (App CK Khaw) shifted in and crowded D’GREAT ELEGANCE (J Low) which was inclined to race fiercely and shifted in causing ENDURANCE (Z Zuriman) to be restrained. D’GREAT ELEGANCE continued to race fiercely until the 1000M. App CK Khaw was reprimanded and advised that a repetition of such riding would lead to suspension.

PERFECT GIRL (C Goon) threw its head at the start, losing ground and raced fiercely in the early stages.

GOOD LUCKY raced wide in the middle stages.

Over the final stages, LUCKY VICTORY (HS Gill) rolled out, brushing PERFECT GIRL.

A post-race veterinary examination of PERFECT GIRL revealed that the mare bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three (3) months under MRA Rule 92(3) and thereafter will be required to pass a bleeder’s test before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of ENDURANCE revealed that the mare returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

RACE 2 (R166) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M (LONG COURSE)

E SUPREME (SU Lim) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon at the request of the rider prior to the race and was passed fit to race.

Although jumping well, WINNING TANGO (C Goon) shifted outwards from its outside barrier and then was ridden wide throughout. Jockey C Goon was advised that he must straighten his mount more quickly.

BIG CENTURY (App L De Souza) was slow to begin and had to be ridden vigourously to obtain a position in the field.

When struck with the whip near the 250M, HAPPY GHOST (App A Zaimuddin) shifted in and had to be restrained off the heels of WAR LORD (J Daniel).  App A Zaimuddin was reminded of his obligations to exercise caution when using his whip.

When questioned, Jockey SU Lim stated the E SUPREME had begun quickly and although he had pressed the gelding early, it had shown no early speed and the horse gave him the impression that it was not fit. Trainer MP Thwaites advised that today’s distance was too short for E SUPREME, however, he was disappointed that the horse had not effectively been competitive at any stage. In light of the poor performance, Trainer MP Thwaites was advised that E SUPREME will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race.

RACE 3 (R167) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M (LONG COURSE)

ELITE ROCKET (App R Nuqman) veered outwards, bumping NEW SENSATION (J Low) at the start.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J Daniel, the rider of SNAGGLE PUSS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 1100M, he shifted in causing TAIL SPIN (R Shafiq) to be checked and struck the hind-quarters of NEW SENSATION.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Daniel’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, his previous good riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 3 February 2020 and to expire on 9 February 2020, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:30pm).

TAIL SPIN then shifted out and this caused DETERMINETOSTRIKE (App L De Souza) to be taken wide. DETERMINETOSTRIKE raced wide in the straight.

Shortly after the start, SEMANTAN PRINCE (Y Sakito), FIGHTING WARRIOR (App L De Souza) and SPIN FIRE (HS Gill) buffeted.

FIGHTING WARRIOR (App L De Souza) was ridden wide and on the pace between the 1000M and the turn into the straight. App L De Souza stated that it was his first ride on the gelding and after jumping well, FIGHTING WARRIOR had commenced to race very fiercely and although wishing to take cover, he had been unable to restrain FIGHTING WARRIOR sufficiently. The gelding had subsequently been left in a 3-wide position and striding outside the leader. Trainer S Dunderdale was advised to ensure that he retains a strong rider on FIGHTING WARRIOR in future.

RACE 5 (R169) CLASS 3 – 1300M (LONG COURSE)

BIG DALLAS (HS Gill) was slow into stride and raced with its head in the air for the first few strides.

In the early stages, LIM’S EVOLUTION raced wide outside the pace.

LIM’S PERSHING steadied from the heels of SATELLITE BOY (R Shafiq) near the 1050M. Shortly after this, LIM’S PERSHING laid in, crowding BAHAR (Y Sakito) which shifted in and carried LISBOA STAR (App L De Souza) inwards and this caused GOD HELPS ME (App CK Khaw) which was racing fiercely, to be restrained. On inquiry, Jockey J Low was reminded to afford all runners on his inside sufficient galloping room.

Jockey C Goon, the rider of LIM’S EVOLUTION, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of LIM’S EVOLUTION revealed no significant finding.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J Low, the rider of LIM’S PERSHING, pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(i) in that passing the 250M, he shifted in, crowding GUILTY PLEASURES (SU Lim) which in turn shifted in causing LIM’S EVOLUTION (C Goon) to be tightened and checked severely, nearly falling. In this incident, PREMIUM STARS (J Daniel) and SATELLITE BOY (R Shafiq) buffeted. BAHAR (Y Sakito) which was following, was then blocked for a clear run.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Low’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, his poor previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one (1) month with effect from 10 February 2020 and to expire on 9 March 2020, both dates inclusive. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (5:30pm).

CHINESE NEW YEAR STAKES

Prior to the race, Mr Nagarajan a/l Supromaniam, the Stable Supervisor for Trainer PS Kumaran, when questioned as to the reason for the removal of cross-nose band for CONCORDE (R Rueven) given that on the 1 December 2019, during an inquiry into the tactics adopted on CONCORDE, it had been stated that the gelding had to race in a cross-nose band as it raced fiercely. Mr Nagarajan gave assurance the removal of cross-nose band would not affect Jockey R Rueven’s ability to control CONCORDE.

After being slow to begin, CONCORDE raced fiercely approaching the 900M, throwing its head. When questioned, Jockey R Rueven advised that he had been instructed not to ride aggressively at the start in an endeavour to allow it to settle. GONG XI FA CAI STAKES

SHELLOMADA (App A Zaimuddin) bucked in its preliminary, dislodging its rider. SHELLOMADA was quickly captured and subsequently checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon who passed the gelding fit to race. App A Zaimuddin was examined by the Club Doctor who passed him fit to ride. Trainer BT Lim was advised that SHELLOMADA will be required to undergo satisfactory Paddock Schooling before being permitted to race again.

SAHABA (O Chavez) which was restless in the stalls, dipped on jumping. Jockey O Chavez was advised that it had been his intention to ride the gelding in a forward position but after the incident at the start, he had been further back than anticipated.

DRAGON HIGH (HS Gill) and TAFFETAS (App WW Cheah) were slow into stride.

D’GREAT EFFORT (R Shafiq) raced wide throughout.

DRAGON HIGH was ridden wide between the 700M and straightening.

When making ground quickly in the straight, TAFFETAS had to be steadied behind D’GREAT EFFORT at the 250M and then was tightened when taking a run inside of SHELLOMADA.

Jockey J Daniel reported that the saddle on MACARTHUR had slipped backwards at the 800M.

SHOWAR (O Chavez) was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon upon the request of the rider and was passed fit to race.

MR HOPKINS (R Shafiq) was slow to begin.

DAVINCI (HS Gill) was slow to begin and was ridden extremely wide throughout.

D’GREAT LIGHT (J De Souza) raced fiercely near the 1200M, throwing its head.

At the 275M, MURDOCH (SU Lim) dipped for no reason and shifted inwards, striking the running rail.

Jockey O Chavez (SHOWAR) reported that although SHOWAR had travelled well in the early stages, it had commenced to shorten its stride from the 450M and he believed the gelding to be sore. A post-race veterinary examination of SHOWAR revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of PEER GYNT, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of PEER GYNT revealed no significant finding.

RACE 9 (R134) OPEN MAIDEN (WFA) – 1400M (SHORT COURSE A)

PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR STAKES

FARDUS (R Rueven) was slow to begin and dipped when striding onto the heels of MAPLE RISING (App CK Khaw) near the 750M.

On jumping, BURBANK (App M Lukman) veered outwards, inconveniencing MAPLE RISING and SECKILL (App A Zaimuddin).

Approaching the 550M, MAPLE RISING laid inwards, causing SECKILL to check. As a result, BURBANK was inconvenienced. App CK Khaw (MAPLE RISING) was reminded of his obligations to afford runners on his inside sufficient galloping room.

At the 275M, FIRST SUCCESS (Y Sakito) rolled in, brushing the running rail.

TRINITY GENERAL (App L De Souza) drifted out at the concluding 100M.

Jockey J De Souza (LEOPARD ECLIPSE) dropped his whip two (2) strides before the finish when it struck the saddle cloth of KING’S ORDER (SU Lim). He was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 44(11) for failing to report this to the Stewards.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of KING’S ORDER (SU Lim), Trainer C Leck stated that early in its career, KING’S ORDER looked promising, racing competitively in 3 year-old quality races, however, the gelding had lost form and had been sent for a spell. On returning, KING’S ORDER had failed to find its form and was considered by its riders as being tended to be uncompetitive and not racing into the bit. He had added with blinkers/pacifiers before today’s start in the hope that it would improve its attitude towards the race. The considerable improvement was a surprise to him.

GREAT SUCCESS STAKES

BELLA VELOCE (App AR Aiman) threw its head at the start, losing considerable ground. When questioned, App AR Aiman advised that although BELLA VELOCE had thrown its head, he did not have hold of the breast-check as instructed. The Stewards considered that this failure had compounded the problem and instructed that App AR Aiman to complete training including satisfactory barrier trials before being permitted to ride in races again.

GROUND ATTACK (O Chavez) raced wide from the 800M until the 650M. Jockey O Chavez (GROUND ATTACK) reported that the bit was inclined to pull through the gelding’s mouth and after securing cover near the 650M, he had then taken GROUND ATTACK out on straightening but the gelding failed to improve.

Near the 175M, ELITE SILENCER (App R Nuqman) rolled in, crowding MOGAN’S PRIDE (App CK Khaw).

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App S Uzair, the rider of BAADSHAH, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, L Moy, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that over the concluding stages of the race, he allowed BAADSHAH to shift out and thereby caused D’GREAT COMMAND (R Shafiq) to be restrained at the 25M mark.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App S Uzair’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Selangor race days with effect from 2 February 2020 and to expire on 8 February 2020, both dates inclusive. App AR Aiman was severely reprimanded for negligence in this regard.

SONNY BILL (HS Gill) dwelt, losing ground.

ME NO MARSH MELLOW (R Rueven) and ASHHAB (O Chavez) were slow to begin.

In the early stages, ME NO MARSH MALLOW was inclined to pull hard.

ASHHAB was extremely wide from the 800M until straightening.

GENERAL REPORT(S) – SLTC

RACE 3 (R107) OPEN MAIDEN – 1600M (LONG COURSE A), SUNDAY, 19 JANUARY 2020, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JANUARY MEETING 2020

Jockey J De Souza (FIRST SUCCESS) who lodged an appeal against his suspension of 2 Malaysian race days for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii), applied to withdraw his appeal on 26 January 2020. After consideration by the Selangor Turf Club Racing Stewards, his application was acceded to and his deposit was refunded. His suspension will commence from 27 January 2020 and to expire on 2 February 2020, both dates inclusive

RACE 8 (R112) CLASS 5 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), SUNDAY, 19 JANUARY 2020, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JANUARY MEETING 2020

The Stewards, on 22 January 2020 at the Selangor Turf Club, inquired into App L De Souza’s riding of CATAPULT in the above race. Evidence was taken from App L De Souza, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, R Lines who is also the Trainer of CATAPULT.

Trainer R Lines stated that although CATAPULT’s best distance was 1200M, it had an inclination to be slow to begin. Further that at its previous start, the gelding had been ascertained to be suffering from respiratory distress, and he subsequently changed his feeding and training regime.

App L De Souza stated that CATAPULT had dwelt slightly but from his outside barrier, he had hoped to be slightly behind midfield. He had to push CATAPULT then hit the gelding near the 800M, thereafter taking it wide in order to progress.

Whilst accepting these explanations, the Stewards advised App L De Souza that their concern centered around his apparent change of riding style in the straight, albeit at that, he had struck CATAPULT numerous times with the whip.

App L De Souza was warned that he must ride his mounts out in a strong positive manner to leave no doubt as to his true purpose.

RACE 4 (R098) CLASS 4 (A) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A), SATURDAY, 18 JANUARY 2020, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JANUARY MEETING 2020

The Stewards, on 23 January 2020 at the Selangor Turf Club, inquired into Jockey R Shafiq’s riding of MARTIN VJ in the above race. Evidence was taken from Jockey R Shafiq and Trainer PS Kumaran, the rider and trainer of MARTIN VJ respectively, and Mr Nagarajan a/l Supromaniam, Stable Supervisor for Trainer PS Kumaran.

Trainer PS Kumaran advised that he had instructed that MARTIN VJ be ridden where it was comfortable believing it to be mid-to-back from its outside draw. Jockey R Shafiq stated that MARTIN VJ, after jumping fairly, had been in a rearward position where he had secured cover, but attempted to quicken from the 600M and although taking the turn into the straight wide, he believed that the gelding was travelling well. Shortly after this, he had pushed MARTIN VJ but near the 300M, the gelding exhaled heavily. Thereafter MARTIN VJ was inclined to shift ground and it was laboring, breathing heavier until the last 100M, where he felt something amiss with the gelding. He reported this to the Stewards and a subsequent veterinary examination revealed no significant finding.

During the course of the inquiry, Trainer PS Kumaran advised that his Supervisor, Mr Nagarajan had reported to him that MARTIN VJ had returned from the races without its tongue-tie. On inquiry into this late report, it was ascertained that Mr Nagarajan had applied the tongue-tie himself but found it to be missing when MARTIN VJ returned. He had not reported or advised anyone of this at that time.

Trainer PS Kumaran was fined RM2000/- under MRA Rule 35(7) for failing to report that MARTIN VJ had lost its tongue-tie during the race. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (3:04pm). Trainer PS Kumaran and Mr Nagarajan were instructed that they must ensure all equipment and gear was properly fitted to every runner. Further, MARTIN VJ will be required to pass 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

ADDENDUM

RACE 3 (R107) OPEN MAIDEN – 1600M (LONG COURSE A), SUNDAY, 19 JANUARY 2020, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JANUARY MEETING 2020

The Stewards spoke to Trainer C Leck, the Trainer of BANGALORE and addressed an issue related to App A Suriya striking the filly several times in the stalls prior to the start being effected. App A Suriya was directed that he should not strike a horse with the whip prior to the gates opening in an attempt to ensure it jumps as this is potentially dangerous and in the case of BANGALORE, when striking forward of the shoulder, it caused the filly to miss the start. He was advised that a repetition would lead to a suspension.

[Course A (True Position)]

Panel of Stipendiary Stewards:

Mr Fin Powrie (Chief Stipendiary Steward), Mr Thanaraja Kasinathan (Stipendiary Steward), Mr Nigel Chong (Stipendiary Steward) & Mr Jarry Chong (Stipendiary Steward).

Veterinary Surgeons:

Dr Shri Kanth (Chief Veterinary Surgeon) & Dr James Yu.

RACE 1 (R105) CLASS 5 (A) – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

MR CONNERY (App L De Souza) raced wide in the early stages.

At the concluding stages, MURDOCH (O Chavez) was inclined to lay inwards, crowding WIRA SAKTI and brushed with the gelding near the 20M. Jockey O Chavez was reminded of his obligations to straighten his mount when he shifts.

An objection was lodged by Jockey R Shafiq, the rider of WIRA SAKTI, placed second, against MURDOCH (O Chavez), being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference at the concluding stages. After considering the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

App AR Aiman (JEFFREY) who was dislodged when pulling up, was examined by the Club Doctor who passed him fit to fulfill his riding engagements for the remainder of the races today.

Jockey AK Lim, the rider of M SEVEN, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of M SEVEN (AK Lim) revealed that it was lame off fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Trainer BT Lim, when questioned, advised that LIM’S MASTER (App A Zaimuddin) had been ridden in its wins from a rearward position and he believed was best suited by 2000M.

RACE 3 (R107) OPEN MAIDEN – 1600M (LONG COURSE A)

Prior to the start of this race, Jockey O Chavez (AMAZING ECLIPSE) reported to the Starter that his lead bag was sitting forward of the saddle, however, AMAZING ECLIPSE was very unruly and proved difficult to reset the saddle. Jockey O Chavez confirmed that he was satisfied to ride the mare with the lead bag in its position, given that it did not pose any risk.

JET TWENTY (App CK Khaw) dipped twice shortly after the start.

After being slow to begin, BANGALORE (App A Suriya) had to be ridden vigourously and to keep in touch.

AMAZING ECLIPSE (O Chavez) was slow into stride, thereafter raced wide from 900M till straightening and laid inwards in the straight. When questioned as to the performance of AMAZING ECLIPSE, Jockey O Chavez stated that the mare was unruly at the start and tended to lay outwards and subsequently missed the start. Although his instructions were to ride mid-to-back, he found himself in a rearward position and in a slow pace, and he had elected to go wide and forward from the 800M. Further, as AMAZING ECLIPSE had raced erratically in the straight, he had to stop and straighten on several occasions. Trainer F Maynard advised that AMAZING ECLIPSE was a very sensitive mare and may have been tested on the 1600M second up.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J De Souza, the rider of FIRST SUCCESS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 1050M,  he rolled in and crowded OSCAR ECLIPSE (J Low) which in turn shifted ground causing JET TWENTY to be restrained.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J De Souza’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 27 January 2020 and to expire on 2 February 2020, both dates inclusive. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (7:11pm).

At the 1000M, BANGALORE and ICHIKA BACHIKA (Y Sakito) were buffeted with ICHIKA BACHIKA becoming unbalanced.

Between the 250M and the 100M, GLOBAL ARMY (App A Zaimuddin) and BEAUTIFUL ONE (App S Uzair) drifted in causing GHOST BAY (App R Nuqman) to be blocked and taken outwards to obtain a clear run.

AMAZING DRAGON (R Rueven) was slow into stride.

STREET BLADE (KC Wong) dipped shortly after the start.

Near the 650M, TRINITY GENERAL (SU Lim) checked. It was established that SOMAR (App S Rosmizan) which was racing on the inside of WEATHER MAN (O Chavez), shifted in at this stage tightening TRINITY GENERAL. In considering this incident, the Stewards could not blame any one rider.

An objection was lodged by Jockey SU Lim, the rider of TRINITY GENERAL, placed fourth, against WEATHER MAN (O Chavez) placed third, on the grounds of alleged indirect interference from WEATHER MAN at the 650M. After considering the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

AMAZING DRAGON had to be steadied when SOMAR shifted in near the 175M.

Jockey O Chavez, the rider of WEATHER MAN, reported that his horse was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of WEATHER MAN revealed that the horse returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

Jockey AK Lim, the rider of THOUSAND THOUSAND, reported that his horse was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of THOUSAND THOUSAND revealed that the gelding returned broken-winded, and as such will be required to undergo a veterinary examination at rest and thereafter pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

On inquiry, Jockey KC Wong, the rider of THE CROWN JEWEL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that passing the 175M, he commenced to shift out, carrying GOLDEN PEAK (J De Souza) out which caused UNSHADOWED GENERAL to check. THE CROWN JEWEL continued to shift out, carrying GOLDEN PEAK outwards causing that gelding to dip near the 25M. In this incident, Jockey J De Souza dropped his whip.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey KC Wong’s guilty plea, mitigating factors and his poor riding record which has four (4) similar charges in the last six (6) months. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) Malaysian race days with effect from 20 January 2020 and to expire on 8 February 2020, both dates inclusive. RACE 1 (R095) CLASS 5 (B) – 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)

LIM’S MYSTERY (App R Nuqman) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 800M, FRENCH VINTAGE (App A Suriya) rolled out, bumping BUKIT SUBANG which in turn shifted, carrying TRINITY ROCKET (SU Lim) which checked from the heels of GOOD VIBRATIONS (App L De Souza). In assessing this incident, the Stewards considered that FRENCH VINTAGE, in shifting out, had tightened the horse on its outside, whereby TRINITY ROCKET had to steady from GOOD VIBRATIONS which had been hanging in prior to this.

D’GREAT STRIKE raced fiercely with its head in the air and was taken wide from the 700M, and was inclined to lay inwards in the straight with Jockey R Shafiq having to straighten on several occasions.

CAVATINA (App P Mogun) was forced to race wide.

A post-race veterinary examination of D’GREAT STRIKE revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MIROTIC (App CK Khaw) returned having cast its near hind plate.

On inquiry, App S Rosmizan, the rider of JUST DUIT, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer S Hamilton, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that near the 1000M, D’GREAT STRIKE (R Shafiq) had to check when crossed by JUST DUIT (App S Rosmizan), bumping the hind-quarters of BUKIT SUBANG (AK Lim).

LINCOLN CITY (KC Wong) dwelt on jumping, losing considerable ground.

Although pushed hard in the early stages, BEIJING STAR (C Goon) was reluctant to go forward, racing in rearward positon. When questioned regarding the performance of BEIJING STAR, Trainer S Edwards advised that the gelding was having its second start after a severe tendon injury and was again disappointing. After dipping at the start, ASHHAB (HS Gill) was bumped when FUNKADELIC (C Goon) shifted out quickly and shortly after, steadied when crowded by SUNTZU (App S Rosmizan). When questioned regarding the performance of ASHHAB, Jockey HS Gill advised that after being interfered with at the start, ASHHAB was reluctant to progress and failed to respond to his urging. On straightening, he had taken the gelding wide, looking for a clear passage, and although the gelding had run somewhat in the straight, it had peaked on its run near the 200M.

STAR INVINCIBLE (App CK Khaw) and MARTIN VJ (R Shafiq) were slow to begin.

MARTIN VJ raced wide until straightening. Jockey R Shafiq was questioned regarding his ride on MARTIN VJ. He stated that he had been instructed to see how the gelding jumped and to ride it where it was “comfortable”. MARTIN VJ had been slow into stride and failed to show early pace being ridden rearward by the 1000M, he had progressed into the race well and after riding MARTIN VJ strongly on straightening, it had not responded and was inclined to be one-paced. Further, the gelding had shifted in when struck with the whip causing him to steady. He reported that MARTIN VJ had made a bad noise. A post-race veterinary examination of MARTIN VJ revealed no significant finding. This inquiry was adjourned to allow for MARTIN VJ’s Trainer, PS Kumaran to be called.

ORIENTAL SPIRIT (App AR Aiman) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

No. 3 – BAADSHAH (App S Uzair)

No. 4 – MOONSHINE MISTRESS (App AR Aiman)

TRINITY HONOR (R Rueven) was slow into stride.

BAADSHAH (App S Uzair) was slow into stride and drifted out in the straight.

AUSSIE EAGLE (App CK Khaw) raced wide in the middle stages.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App A Suriya, the rider of MAIDANZ BEAUTY, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, Trainer C Leck, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that shortly after the start, he shifted in, crowding HENG KINGDOM causing that horse to be tightened and in turn causing SENA SIXTYNINE (HS Gill) had to be checked.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Suriya’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 27 January 2020 and to expire on 2 February 2020, both dates inclusive. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of his suspension. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6:42pm).

Veterinary Surgeons:

Dr Shri Kanth (Chief Veterinary Surgeon) & Dr James Yu.

RACE 1 (R047) CLASS 5 (B) – 1300M (LONG COURSE B)

LIM’S MYSTERY (App R Nuqman) was slow into stride.

After being slow to begin, PERFECT GIRL (KC Wong) was ridden wide and stumbled near the 800M and again on straightening.

When questioned, Jockey KC Wong advised that the mare was agitated prior to being loaded after being upset by an adjacent horse, she had subsequently thrown her head at the start and he had been unable to secure a position in the field. He said that further, PERFECT GIRL felt funny in his action on straightening and shortened her stride over the final 200M. A post-race veterinary examination of PERFECT GIRL revealed no significant finding. PERFECT GIRL was impounded for routine analytical and veterinary examination, and will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having poor performance.

SECKILL (C Goon) was inclined to lay outwards in the straight.

GOLDEN DRAGON (App WW Cheah) raced wide in the middle stages.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that ELITE GUSTAVO (B Pinheiro) returned with a cut to its off hind heel. ELITE GUSTAVO will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MEWTWO (C Goon) raced wide on straightening.

In the middle stages, ELITE CONQUEROR (App R Nuqman) raced wide.

BLUE EYED BOY (R Rueven) and MEWTWO (C Goon) were slow into stride.

When making ground in the straight, LIM’S MASTER ran onto the heels of DETERMINETOSTRIKE (App L De Souza). App A Zaimuddin advised that he had been held tight inside GOD’S FATE (App CK Khaw) and LIM’S MASTER commenced to race strongly when he had progressed behind DETERMINETOSTRIKE. He was advised to exercise greater action when he rides his mounts out to ensure he has a secure passage.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOD’S FATE returned with a cut on the off fore coronary band.  The mare will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

RACE 3 (R049) CLASS 5 (A) – 1300M (LONG COURSE B)

GORDON G (App L De Souza) jumped awkwardly, throwing its head.

NOVA DASHING (R Shafiq) jumped awkwardly, losing ground.

Near the 600M, BIG CENTURY (B Pinheiro) had to restrain off ASIA (App CK Khaw). STREET OF LONDON (App S Uzair) which was following, had to check from BIG CENTURY’s heels.

The whip of Jockey AK Lim (SASA LADY) was struck from his hand accidentally by the whip of App L De Souza (GORDON G) near the 300M.

ASIA was blocked for a clear run and had to be steadied off the heels of SEGAR THE BEST (App A Zaimuddin) near the 275M when SEGAR THE BEST drifted out.

After the winning post, GORDON G rolled in, crowding SASA LADY and HYDRANT (App A Suriya). App L De Souza (GORDON G) was reprimanded and advised that the Stewards considered that an incident after the post could be deemed as careless riding.

A post-race veterinary examination of NOVA DASHING revealed no significant finding.

HAPPY DAYZ (App A Suriya) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, D’GREAT COMMAND (R Shafiq) and ELITE SILENCER (App R Nuqman) buffeted.

D’GREAT COMMAND was inclined to race erratically in the straight, and on several occasions, impeded ELITE SILENCER which had to be taken wide.

HORSEH (HS Gill) raced wide and took the turn into the straight wide. When questioned, Jockey HS Gill stated that he had intended to ride midfield with cover, however, runners had kicked up on his inside, and he had not wished to ease back and was unable to progress forward. As such, HORSEH was obliged to cover a considerable amount of ground.

POKEMON BABY (AK Lim) which was unable to be loaded, will be required to pass 1 Starting Stall test before being declared to race again. The gelding was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 4:06pm.

HAYTHAM (B Pinheiro) and ZA’EM (J De Souza) were slow to begin.

DUNE SAGA (App CK Khaw) and HAYTHAM were inclined to lay inwards in the straight.

When questioned as to why he was so far back, Jockey B Pinheiro advised that he had been instructed to ride the gelding where it was comfortable as its previous starts had been less than ideal. He had been blocked early and although in a rearward position, believed that with the very fast early pace would allow him to make ground in the straight.

Trainer AB Abdullah confirmed these instructions and advised that HAYTHAM was a very big horse which he had trouble in its training. Given the performance, the Stewards advised that HAYTHAM will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again due to racing intractability.

App S Rosmizan (SUPER LINE), when questioned, advised that from his wide barrier draw, he wanted to have SUPER LINE race handy but he had been unable to secure a forward position and he felt that the nature of the track (yielding) had adversely affected the gelding’s ability to race with a fast early pace

Jockey HS Gill (BIG BUS) advised that BIG BUS had thrown its head prior to the start being effected and fly-jumped, resulting in him being in a rearward positon rather than being handy. Whilst this had not been ideal for BIG BUS, he believed that the fast early pace would allow BIG BUS to make ground in the straight. The gelding had been uncomfortable that the “sticky” nature of the track.

Jockey HK Cheng was questioned regarding his riding of READY TO ROLL. He stated that he had been instructed to ride off the pace, however, after jumping extremely well, READY TO ROLL had pulled very hard and despite his efforts, it led by a considerable margin. He believed that the increase in distance from its previous start, allowed it to lead easily and it had not been his intention to ride in this manner.

RACE 6 (R1590) CLASS 3 – 1400M (LONG COURSE B)

PLACE YOUR BET (Y Sakito) was slow to begin.

App A Zaimuddin (PANCA DELIMA) weighed in at 1.1kg overweight. The Stewards were unable to ascertain the origin of this discrepancy. App A Zaimuddin was fined RM500/- under MRA Rule 121(7), and was instructed that he could not accept rides at less than 54kgs.

A post-race veterinary examination of BAHAR (O Chavez) revealed no significant finding. The gelding was impounded for routine analytical and veterinary examination.

Trainer AB Abdullah was questioned regarding the instructions given to the riders of both his horses, PANCA DELIMA (App A Zaimuddin) and RUNNING FLAME (HS Gill). He advised that he instructed both riders to attempt to lead but if unable to lead comfortably, to take a sit. He also stated that he had given similar instructions to the rider of his other horse, BAHAR although he considered it would be ridden off the pace given its outside draw.

SHADOW SPEED (HS Gill) was ridden wide in the middle stages.

LA FAMILIA (O Chavez) bounded in the air at the start, and was subsequently ridden in a rearward position. When questioned, Jockey O Chavez advised that LA FAMILIA did not began well although it had been his intention to be handy and the gelding had then resented the kick-back, and remained in a rearward position. He was also of the opinion that LA FAMILIA did not relish the state of the track.

RACE 8 (R1592) CLASS 4 (B) – 1600M (LONG COURSE B)

Acting on veterinary advice that SPARKLE LOT (S Anandan) was lame near fore, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 4:01pm. The gelding will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again.

GIGANTE DEL ANDRE (Z Khairil), ZA’EEM (HS Gill), FIRST SUCCESS (O Chavez) and HAPPY BUFFALO (C Goon) were slow to begin.

After beginning slowly, GIGANTE DEL ANDRE commenced to bound and lost ground. When questioned, Jockey Z Khairil advised that he believed the gelding was attempting to buck and he had attempted to extricate his rein which was trapped under the breast-plate, thinking this was part of the course. GIGANTE DEL ANDRE continued to race ungenerously and he had effectively eased the gelding down in the straight.

In light of this, Trainer S Edwards was advised that GIGANTE DEL ANDRE will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for its racing intractability. A post-race veterinary examination of GIGANTE DEL ANDRE revealed no significant finding.

After being slow to begin, HAPPY BUFFALO (C Goon) commenced to hung outwards from the 1000M, finishing on the outside fence in the straight. As HAPPY BUFFALO had performed in this manner and in view of its previous history, the Stewards advised Trainer SY Lim that HAPPY BUFFALO will be required to pass 2 1000M/vet tests before being declared to race again for its racing intractability.

Jockey R Rueven, the rider of MR WOLFF, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MR WOLFF revealed no significant finding.

An objection was lodged by Jockey Y Sakito, the rider of RAKAMA, placed second, against Jockey J Low (D’GREAT RISE) being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 150M mark. After considering the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the result stood.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J Low, the rider of D’GREAT RISE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that he shifted in over the final 100M and from the 25M, crowded RAKAMA (Y Sakito).

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Low’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 23 December 2019 and to expire on 29 December 2019, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6:15pm).

This race was rescheduled to start at 5:10pm and was run in heavy rain.

AMI ELEVEN (App WW Cheah) which cast its near fore plate behind the barrier, was replated, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.

NEVERSAYNEVER (App S Uzair) stopped quickly in the straight and after passing the winning post, collapsed and expired. A post-mortem of NEVERSAYNEVER will be conducted.

GOLD POWER (J Low) and RAINBOW FISH (AK Lim) raced wide throughout.

AMI ELEVEN had to be restrained and taken outwards off the heels of NEVERSAYNEVER at the 175M.

App A Zaimuddin (SEGAR THE BEST) was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race under the provisions of MRA Rule 44(6).

RACE 11 (R1381) CLASS 4 (B) – 1400M (LONG COURSE A)

This race was rescheduled to start at 5:40pm.

On jumping, LINING TOGETHER (R Rueven) veered out and cannoned into ELEGANT DANCER (S Muniandy) which in turn bumped CONCORDE (SU Lim). At the same time, TALISMAN (App S Uzair) shifted in, making contact with CONCORDE and when being pulled off, had to steady off the heels of SHENBAO (O Chavez). Jockey R Rueven and App S Uzair were warned that they must ensure that they keep their mounts straight on jumping.

TALISMAN raced wide in the early stages.

The Stewards opened an inquiry into a mix-up with saddles GOOD VIBRATIONS (App L De Souza) and READY TO STAR (HK Cheng) from Trainer R Lines’ stables. The mix-up necessitated reweighing of both riders prior to the race. An inquiry was adjourned to allow the Stewards to examine the CCTV footage of the weigh-in process.
